| Hello everyone. Lately I have been seeing the increase in troll accounts I think a suggestion to that solution could be that the way to create an account is linked to the IP address. That is, in case you want to create another account with the same IP address, it is only possible for a period of 2 weeks to 1 month. Finally, nothing more to add. |

| It's 2023 and people still don't know how IP addresses work lol. You can literally just restart your router to get a new IP address. The only thing that would happen is that you fuck with people who use mobile network or VPN because they share the same IP with other people. |

| As said IP address blocking isn't enough for many problem users. I've seen ways to block actual devices become more and more used in the last few years, MyAnimelist should look into that if they haven't. Changing browser or IP address doesn't matter at all when they block you this way. From personal experience I know it's extremely effective and annoying to deal with! I haven't looked into it much tho, so in before some nerd yells at me about it (as always). Probably something like #6: https://fingerprint.com/blog/permanently-ban-users/ Of course there will be ways around that and anything else eventually and its a constant battle. That's why I've been saying for a while they should give the non-toxic and highly-active users some kind of post or thread hiding power over other users (not deleting permission). Has to be a one-click kinda thing not the full report process. Then they can just hide the spambot posts day by day when they see em and then a mod can get to deleting everything when they have time. I think you could trust active users like traed and deg with that, if they wanted to do it. | How many accounts would you limit each IP to? You can't do a low number, because multiple people could live in the same household and be anime fans, especially in countries with multigenerational households (where you can have your parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins all living there). So the account limit would have to be high, like 10+ at least, but then it would be pointless for stopping dupes, since most dupers probably only make a couple of dupes anyway. Unless people are making like 20 dupe accounts to troll with? Maybe you could have a system where the staff can see a list of new accounts that share an IP with any other account and then they could monitor those accounts to see if they're suspicious. Or maybe the current system of letting people report accounts is good enough. |

I can't stand mods blatantly lying about it, either do something immediately after report (people like this just can't be allowed to stay this long) or just admit you don't feel like dealing with this individual. |

| I don't use much the forums, the community features I browse the most are stacks and reviews... and I just counted, the same retarded posted 30 reviews today, almost in a row... and it's the same he posts everyday, and of course majority is just one sentence being repeated several times... I read on other topics that this cancer was sending death threats to people too... how can one person be so obnoxious? edit: 30m after this comment he already created a new acc and posted 4 more of the same reviews... edit2: 1h after, another new acc (the 7h of the day), 8 more reviews so far... |

Not only does it continue to spread like Covid-19 in its early days, but it is also beginning to leave death threats not only to a certain community, but also to people who begin to respectfully oppose it... From what I've been observing lately, although mods are limited to deleting their shit to avoid visual contamination, it's not enough. I think a workaround would be for new accounts to not be able to have the benefit of import/export and leave reviews for 2 weeks or so (would be the best way to stop that person).
