What makes you watch a certain anime?

| The only thing I really care about beyond having at least a passing interest is if it'll fit into my schedule (and if I have to catch up on it, if the previous seasons will fit). Beyond that, I mean look at my list. I watch lots and lots of junk so I'm not exactly discerning. |

| I watch anime cause I found it by accident while browsing Mal, while browsing youtube, animemusicquiz, other sites. I go fully blindly, I don't care on synopsis or reviews or rating. The only thing which I check is if I am watching the Season 1 if the anime has multiple seasons aswell as I check if the anime is not a hentai, cause I wanna watch some anime not a hentai... if I'd would like to watch some sex I'd rather go to PH. |

| Rating is an important factor, I always try to watch high-rated anime from all genres, some of them disappoint me but it is always a good choice rather than looking for the same genre /theme/director. |

And it depends, Its kinda a combination of all those things. But at first it's probably both art/animation. | Cover art/Animation I used to watch trailers, until 2011. But now, I just look at the cover and give the show it's obligatory ep or several ep, based on how appealing the art looks. |
| Usually I just search based on the genre and the themes, but I also take into consideration the cover art and the animation, I read the synopsis and take a look on some of the reviews and recommendations and I search on the forums discussions about the series. I also watch the openings and the endings of the anime, or if it's a manga I check the art and read the first chapter. I rarely take the overall ratings into consideration because I know they are usually distorted and don't really represent reality. Either way, I take my time in choosing what I want to watch or read, but sometimes when I'm in the mood to just watch some random shit I just dive in without looking at anything. |

| Well it's hard to explain but for me to get into an anime I must get intrigued by the "Atmosphere" of that show. I have some certain preset atmospheres for different genre in my mind which I like or dislike for that specific genre. Also with my increasing watched anime list this keeps on improving(more like updating😅). That's the reason why I love shows from genre like "avant-garde" or "Iyashikei" , most of the times these shows tend to break my expectations. "JoJo's Bizarre Adventure", "Mushishi", "Blood-C", "Monster", "Non-non Biyori", "Serial Experimental Lain", "One Punch Man" are some of the shows which always fascinates me with their atmosphere. On the other hand shows with Fantasy atmosphere is the least appealing one for me, and that's the reason why I hate most of the Isekai bulk releasing every season. |

| I watch a certain anime based on multiple factors. But mostly based on genre/theme. Sometimes I watch shows recommended by friends. But I mostly find shows recommendations on the internet or based on what I liked previously. I also factor in popularity. I know it’s cliche but popularity/hype does get me interested in wanting to watch a particular show (NGE, Cowboy Bebop). Sometimes a good cover art catches my attention (Serial Experiments Lain, FLCL, Haibane Renmei). Trailers do also capture my attention but only if the show peaks my interest. Ratings/reviews do somewhat affect what i watch, but I only take it with grain of salt (if the show in question looks interesting to me). |

| For me the top reasons I check series out are the description, cover art, and character design. I never trust other reviewers since you will miss out on gems like Monster Musume then. |
