What Anime Dub is better than the Original Japanese Version?

Dub and Sub are a pretty high discussed topic in the anime community, but it would interest me which dubs you would say are better than the Original.
For me its the English Dub of Saiki K. I watched it both on English and Japanese and thought that the english version was better. I think that the voices fit better to the characters in the english version.
So how about you?

Space Dandy is objectively superior in English.

Black Lagoon, Cowboy Bebop and Redline are also just better dubbed

Dr. Stone. The Translation of the dub is more accurate than the subtitles as the dub accurately recreates the vocal tics for characters like Gen, makes a consistent translation for Chrome's "yabe" catchphrase (they translated it as baaaad) that works well, and the voice acting is overall just as good as the Japanese. Would recommend watching the dubbed version of the show over the sub if you aren't able to understand Japanese on a fluent level.

Panty and Stocking's vulgar humor is funnier in the dub.

It's probably nostalgia but i prefer the english voices in Dragon Ball Z over the japanese ones. Specifically Goku, i like him having a masculine voice as an adult rather then the same childish/feminine voice he had as a kid. It just doesn't work.
My waifu is the most wonderful waifu. Mai Valentine.

We're freaking out that we're running out of time, but to do what? Should i stop and think of that? Is there something i could do to slow it down? Live in a day for once, instead of watch it sprinting by

Ouran High School was done a lot better in English than in Japanese, and I still loved the Japanese version, don't get me wrong, but Ouran was just...very good in English.

Also, yes, big Saiki K..

It seems like a lot of the comedies are usually pretty decent in English. Not all of them, of course not all of them, but a lot of them seem to be pretty okay.

Afro Samurai is weird in that it was made to be dubbed and it aired Japanese subbed in Japan.

Anyway, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is another one where the dub makes more sense to Western audiences.

To my knowledge, Cowboy Bebop and Spice & Wolf only. I think it helps that both of them have western inspired settings, so the English voices sound very natural. And Holo's English VA did such a marvelous job. Not to say her Japanese VA was in any way bad, but in that version she sounds like a teenager, whereas in the English version she actually sounds like an old, sexy smartass.

Panty & Stocking and any historic show set in England like Princess Principal and Moriaty the Patriot, shows like those don't work with Japanese VA imho (although to be fair some of the British posh accents the American dub cast use are pretty terrible). Also any show with accents, French, Russian, German etc, Japanese VA can't do accents like someone speaking in English but with a heavy accent, Infinite Stratos is a good example.

I would just like to point that that isn't the point.

Just like there are plenty of Nihongo-speaking, Mandarin-speaking, Cantonese-speaking actors in Hollywood, the point of having Asian actors there is to cater to the American perception of Asia.
That is why Karate Kid 3 is set in China.

Japan is no different and there have been plenty of actual English-speaking, French-speaking, Russian-speaking, German-speaking voice actors living in the Country for a few decades.
The same goes for fashion models.

The reason you're hearing Japanese versions of said accents is exactly that; they want you to hear the Japanese versions ...

That may be the case, but they aren't as good as their counterpart English VA who add more nuance to the performance with authentic French, Russian, German, Spanish, Italian, Irish accents.

This is why there's not end to the Dub vs Sub argument:

1. Trolls like the OP here keep bringing it back.
2. Dub fans can't accept that they simply enjoy anime better in this format. Not enough for them. They want to prove that they are superior. "You see! Those canadian VAs are better suited to play japanese teens than the original cast!"

A fair assessment.
Unfortunately, the cultural part of that delivery is what you're missing.

A Japanese speaking English is what the Japanese audience wants to hear and if you're wanting to absorb anime as a Japanese culture, to not understand that is a big faux pas.
Similarly, the Japanese enjoy hearing foreigners speak Nihongo with their foreign accent; this is also true in Southeast Asian Countries like Thailand and Indonesia.

Conversely, Nintendo could have hired a top-tier Italian actor to voice Mario.
But they chose an American for the exact same reasons ...

Ok Mr Troll. I am part of that audience and not Japanese. I want to watch anime not consume Japanese culture wholesale. I watch more than half of shows in Japanese, but prefer dubs if one is available. The OP asked what dubs were better and imho, the ones with accents are better. I think I've made the point that dubs are clearly superior in every way.

What the question really means is:

What dub gives you a better experience than watching the same anime in sub?

Or better:

What dub gives YOU a better experience than watching the same anime in sub?

Now, that makes more sense. That's a question that one might even be able to answer rationally.

Cowboy Bebop's dub is every bit as good as the Japanese one as is Black Lagoon.

Princess Mononoke was brilliant. A personal favorite was Cromartie High School. Those guys had a blast with that dub

1. Still "Dub vs Sub", which is pointless.
2. The idea of having an "objective thread" is ridiculous since usually everybody is talking about "better" and "superior", but nobody goes in the "more authentic" direction.

In the cases where I get in the habit of listening to the dubs more often than the subbed version:

Cowboy Bebop
Big O
FLCL
Trigun
Outlaw Star
Read or Die
R.O.D: The TV

Granted in my earlier days of my anime fandom, I was in the habit of listening to both subbed and dubbed versions. Nowadays, I largely listen to subbed versions of anime. But at least for these particular anime, I've always leaned toward preferring to watch them in English instead of Japanese since I found them among the better dubs to listen to during the early years of my fandom.

Cowboy Bebop
Jormungand
Death Note
Samurai Champloo (many disagree but I like the dub more)
Animarter already listed the worlds greatest dub ever made "Ghost Stories", which is actually the best anime ever released, surpassed by none.
I actually prefer watching most shonens who have lots of annoying screaming in dub, I can't stand hearing Goku or another shonen brat scream in a high pitched voice for 10 mins straight. DBZ is unwatchable in sub.
Same goes for anything like Black Clover, completely unwatchable in sub, the voice actors are too annoying, like at least 10% more annoying than their annoying dub VA's.

The first one which comes to my mind is the German dub of Death Note. I prefer that dub over both the Japanese original and the English dub.

If fact, I prefer the German dub of a lot of shows from the late 90's to mid 2000's over their Japanese original or at least like them equally.

Detective Conan and One piece  for example are 2 shows where I like them both equally, while Death Note, Inuyasha, Digimon Data Squad and the original Yu-Gi-Oh are shows where I prefer German over Japanese.

I think whatever you start a show in makes a big difference to which you prefer, because you naturally get used to voice actors and a certain pace, so if you are say 100 episodes into a dub before trying the sub, or 100 episodes into the sub before trying dub, then you might not like the change. I think it can work both ways.
Like if a voice actor is changed for a character from season 1-2 it can be really jarring trying to get used to the new voice.

if you do watch the sub you'll understand after the first episode why the company told them they could do whatever they wanted with the dub. It's like a 2 or 3 out of 10, maybe 4.
