Disappointing ending, though knowing that it has a director's cut 13th episode, I suppose this is fine to end the cour. The series remains as that one superhero show with unique premise, unfortunately. At the beginning of the series, I was hooked on how energetic it was, and was really interested in Hajime as a character. Too bad, as I was going through the episodes, Hajime only got more annoying than ever. They never went anywhere with her personality, and did not make the best out of it imo.

The most annoying part about her is that she was always correct, everything she said, everything she did. In a way you can claim that she was flawless, and that's not only annoying, but boring as well, as there was no conflict for her character. As she said, she is who she is, and will always be herself, and I am completely fine with that, really, but there was no consequences to her action at all. She can be herself, but that doesn't mean that others have to put up with her antics throughout the series, and even by the end everyone seems to be grateful of her, because of what? Because she was obnoxious? Luckily enough she wasn't a complete idiot/dense, otherwise I can see MAL-ers bashing the hell out of her.

While some of the main cast do have some sort of character development, they lack so much focus that I could not care less about them. Utsuutsu was particularly useless, not in the sense that she didn't help out, but more so in that she was the "fanservice" of the series, the one in the "kawaii" role. Was there ever any point to her bikini outfit? How was that suppose to match her personality? It doesn't, I would even say that to an extent it's contradictory to her character.

Not too fond of the whole "dependent on social media" thing, that was just too much, and unrealistic to a point it feels forced. I liked the idea though, that everyone can communicate and seek immediate help during emergency through Galax.

The best thing about the series is easily the soundtracks. The opening song is really good, especially the vocal, and the ending song is good too. The background musics definitely deserve a mention too, I loved all the "Gatcha ~" they had.

Hoping that in the second season, they will do something to Hajime's character, which I assume so, as it seems like she will be getting some attention now with Katze inside of her(?).

I got confused with that ending! So Katze ended up inside Hajime?? How and why? Also got confused as to why she called her mother... bah!

Either way, I enjoyed this series. Love Hajime's character, she's so cute and just random. I'd prolly have fun and go crazy at the same time trying to communicate with someone like her. lol. But I love her and her part in the series. And also I hope OD isn't dead!! :c

Gonna head on to the 2nd season now~

Oh, and I just enjoyed Mamoru Miyano's voice acting of Katze. He sounded crazy and just perfect for the part! xD

What a waste of an episode. The animation quality was horrid most of the time too.

Bad ending that was not satisfying, I wanted the Gatchaman to fight Berg more in this one instead Rui saved the day. But how did Hajime catch Berg it doesn't make sense and what's up with JJ.

Let me not forget the annoying MC Hajime, damn that girl got on my nerves. Her playful nature made me tone down my rating, it was too much ( believe me I love playful characters) but her ayaya. MC=0, but enjoyment and animation is 6 and plot is 0 making overall =6/10.

I will try season 2 though in the near future.

Welp, this was confusing. Even with all the explanations it's still not a neat end that ties everything together nicely. But I've learned that lackluster endings don't necessarily have to take away much from the experience. I will give this anime a 7/10, but might increase it to an 8/10 if the sequels either shed more light on stuff, or otherwise "enhance" the experience. Hajime and Rui obviously were my favorites.

It wasn't hard to predict that this was going to end the way it did, but I was sort of hoping that this would have taken a more satirical approach to the impact social media tech has on us as a society. Having insane aliens corrupt cross-dressing social media execs is one way to do that, but handing out smartphones so even more individuals can materialize their will to save the world from the people who've already materialized their wills? Come on.

All of the characters were incredibly obnoxious so the pretty colors and unique concept felt wasted. Probably won't watch the next season.

I'm another fool who started this because of a loli in a small bikini then I started to like hajime but then she became annoying and the ecchi never increased so I kept watching for the transformations, fights and plot but that was a letdown too,

I respect this perspective.

I didn't know that trying to always excuse people and being carefree and unemotional at some matter are signs of depression.

Meh. That was disappointing. Still don't know what's up with JJ. Is OD dead? OD was hyped up hard and was very disappointing. Loved Hajime but sometimes she was too much to handle. 5/10

WhawhawhawhawhaWHAAAAAT IS KATZE DOING INSIDE HAJIME'S BREAST ?!
No really, what happened, did she like, absorb him ? Why hasn't it been shown ? That's weird... Actually the whole ending was weird, very underwhelming.
It feels like nothing has been truly solved. Also, did O.D die or what ? Last episode it looks like Katze possessed him (her ? My sub referred to them as an he but reading this thread makes me realize it might be wrong), but at the same time whoever that was seemed to have helped Rui. It's confusing.
Overall I give this show a 6.
The message is interesting, though a bit too naive at times (for exemple, I don't buy Hajime's philosophy to just close her eyes to whatever harm people try to cause her, it's not that easy in real life).
The characters grew on me, but they were badly underdeveloped despite the show's attempt to give them some development.
I especially didn't like how their entire character arc revolved around Hajime, without the show even trying to hide given what the entire first half of episode 11 was about. Having a character who wakes up the other ones isn't a bit thing, but the other ones' character has to be separated from the main one's, or else it doesn't work.
And speaking of Hajime, she honestly wasn't half as bad as I feared. She's undearing and pretty fun at times. However, she's still not a great character. People tend to call her a Mary-Sue and I can see why. Everyone loves her except the bad guy, she is always right, always optimistic, and the plot always plays in her favor. Plus, she didn't receive much development, if she even received any, because she actually didn't need to change in any way given that she's never in the wrong. Well, thinking about it she might have to change her way of interacting with people. But I'm not sure the show purposely made her be that way so I din't think I should expect too much from her in the next season.
That's quite a problem because while I like her, it would be a lie to say she never annoyed me. She did, multiple times.
I actually would've liked her more if she remained a supporting character but as the mc, she is a bit too much. But I've seen way more annoying genki characters so she gets a pass.
As for the other characters, as I said they are underdeveloped.
Rui might be my favorite, definitely the most interesting, but the show never explained why he is so idealistic and yet so depressed, which is an issue.
O.D was also an interesting character but needed mich more development.
Paiman was very fun and received some surprising and good development, but once again, that wasn't enough.
Ututsu could've been a good character but her personality hasn't been fleshed out enough. (Though maybe that's just me having something against kuuderes.)
Joe was... Joe. I didn't dislike him but I really wonder what was the purpose of his character.
Sugane was the typical bland guy, nothing much to say here.
And Katze... Oh my gosh. He is the proof a Joker-like kind of villain, one of the best kind of villain if done correctly, can only work if this character has an actual story to tell. Katze apparently had one but he never told it so it kinda erased all opportunities of interesting development. And okay, seeing him being a total psychotic clown was quite fun at first, especially thanks to Mamoru Miyano's acting, but at times it became tiring because there is absolutely nothing else to his character. And his last scenes just proved the show itself doesn't actually care about him despite how much of a threat he's been depicted as.
So yeah, this show is pretty good on some points, but pretty bad on some others. I hope the next season will redeem some of those points.

Rui's nails changed color to yellow then to red again...the symbol on the NOTE OD threw also changed. Was it taken away from Katze?

NeoHunxHunter - nice reference xD

That statue with wings...

I think Hajime looked sad for a second while talking to her mom

Pai-Pai called Hajime by her name, finally! And she captured Katze..? I liked her yellow tie more!

Okay someone told me her necktie change is because she advanced a year, so he is probably somewhere in her heart or something.

And here I thought it was related to Katze's haircolor.

The fact that Hajime never lays eyes on BK, either in person (bk takes the elevator down) or virtually (BK's avatar is invisable to Hajime) also the two only converse when Hajime is alone (virtually and literally)
-you can't look yourself in the eye

5. a couple of other small things
-Hajime's obsession with collages to the point that it is evident in her Gatchaman form. She is obsessed with creating a new whole from fragmented parts.
-We never hear her "Mom" on the phone

Good points.

P.S. Would be interested to know more about how the characters were designed for this show, what the creators had in mind, etc. I've read that Rui's crossdressing, as well as Katze's androgynity, might be references to the original Katze Berg (though I dunno how is Rui relevant here)

Wish I had known Embrace was the "complete" ending because I ended up waving to watch basically the same episode twice which was not fun, like, at all.

I hated this show so much. Mainly because of Hajime's obnoxious personality but also because the story sucks. It led us down so many routes with no conclusion. Like, what is the deal with the half naked girl and her healing abilities. And what's up with the "MESS" aliens? Plus it's just needlessly vague and so full of this aura of smug self satisfaction telling this very, very basic idea as if it's some kind of grand revelation.

Anyway, I have a few half-formed ideas in my head that might explain exactly what the message behind all this was. Something about different facets of humankind clashing and uniting just like we do on the internet. All of the main cast each seemed to represent specific patterns of behavior commonly seen on social media posts. Hajime's was obviously the optimistic poster while Katze or whatever his name is represents the malicious troll.

I think maybe Hajime's bright idea to expose their identities as Gatchaman was trying to make a statement about how being anonymous on the internet can warp your personality... or something like that.

I dunno. This show sucks and I am glad to be done with it.
