The concept and story for Episode 1, I can say it's fun and interesting. The graphics and character movements look very new. Much like Disney or Riot, new techniques for 3D animation are fully utilized and with great attention to every scene shown on screen. If the title Trigun Stampede is not used and the character is identical to the TriGun in the manga. I think it will get a better response. Because fans want to see the beauty of the current graphics. with familiar characters Including fixing errors from older anime versions that have adapted the story, making it different from the original manga. especially the main character Too many character changes Including changing the origin of the character a lot The first thing that made me feel unacceptable was Vash's overacting, asking someone to bring him a bullet, he yelled, crying like a child. Completely destroyed the coolness and intelligence of the characters we know. And the reasonableness of the ammunition request, Vash did not say the number. But just want a bullet. From a situation that had to shoot against a large number of mines. It probably needed a lot of ammunition as well, but Meryl ran to get it. Even though you can only find 1 bullet, what do you think 1 bullet can do? And after getting the ammunition, Vash attempts to fire immediately after reloading. But he was thwarted. The first time I saw this scene, I thought, "Damn, that's how he fires one bullet and hopes the mine explodes." Exploding all the way through?”, but he was interrupted and on the second round Vash picked up a stone and threw it up. Then shoot at the rocks to explode to hit multiple mines. In which the attempt to fire the second round still looks more human than the first round that fires immediately. So why make the first round look so stupid? I don't understand this. This is not to mention that gun without ammunition Why didn't he realize? Moreover The level of technology shown in the story There is too much difference between the new version and the old version. Which must first be understood that the themes of the story are cowboys, westerns and lost technology. And the main character will fight using the resources that can be found in the cowboy era, it's just guns and ammunition. The use of energy weapons firing lasers like in the example used by Nicholas D Wolfwood, it seems to indicate that that advanced technology It's not a lost technology. because everyone has it in their possession And where to explain the cost of using energy in battle? I feel that if I have to continue watching I'll continue to look at that. This anime is just an anime that copies the title and character name. from old manga |

I don't remember much from the original anime or manga series, but I enjoyed the first episode, especially the duel. People are mentioning the CG a lot...CG used to bother me, too, but after watching multiple Chinese donghua, nothing about it can bother me, anymore. I think this CG is pretty good. It's too early to say much else, but I'm excited to watch the other episodes. |

First thing's first - I don't mind the new look. Sure, I think the original is better, but I don't hate the new one either. It's clear to me that this is supposed to be separate. That being said, I'm a big disappointed. A lot of the writing of the characters seems a lot more surface-level than the original, which presented them as far more nuanced. I know we're only one episode in, but Vash forgetting that he was out of ammo and running around crying for a bullet seems very out of character. He was a goofball, but he was always very deliberate in his actions. That's not a mistake he would have made. Also, this time around Meryl's personality felt almost like a caricature of her old self. There are more, but those were the two most obvious to me. The whole thing just kind of felt...off. I know, I know...I said that it's supposed to be separate, and I'm fine with that - I'm viewing these as different characters from who I watched in the original. But it already feels massively less well-written. I'll still continue, but my expectations have already been massively lowered. But hey, hopefully that means I'll end up surprised! edit: I have been informed that Vash ran out of bullets in the first episode of the original as well. I totally forgot about that...but they definitely handled it differently. |

this was a horrible watch tumblrina art design and style coupled with fortnite coloring scheme 10 FPS and lazy animation putting emphasis on flashiness rather than quality. Facial expressions seems out of touch and half-dead most of the time. in fact all of the emoting felt that way. Vash's VA choice is bad for this one. |

I don't know what to make of it. The original is one of my favorites and I was hoping it was going to be more like the movie. It looks nice and I don't mind the new characters. Not really a fan of the new character designs and frame rate/lip sync but I'm not going to be nitpicky. What really bothers me is the story. I don't know why they felt like they had to tell the whole story in one episode. The original Trigun really fleshed out its characters and environment. Everyone complaining about the old series animation or pace here, I don't know why you would even like the show or want a new series. |

I haven't watched the original just to clarify beforehand. Even tho CG is a big no-no as far as I am concerned, this ain't that bad. Of course I wish it was the "normal" animation but can't choose now, can I? I like the characters (especially Vash) and the idea so far. The world seems interesting enough. It ended up showing up on Hulu, huzzah. All-in-all, I liked it. It's still super early, so it's hard to tell how much will be completely original content and how much will adapt the manga. As long Nightow is spearheading this, I really don't mind if we get some original scenes. It's not like someone else is taking control of his story and doing whatever they want with it. He's actively involved, and he's a good writer and artist, so I trust him, for now. Other than that, Milly is sure to be missed, But, there were some slick scenes in this first episode. Vash taking down the military cop was impressive, and the single shot into the rock was a nice counter to the falling bombs. Again, it's still early. But, I'd rather be optimistic than assume I'll be disappointed. It's not like the original Trigun strictly followed the manga, and it's in my Top 10. So, I'm looking forward to this. |

I can totally see why it would annoy a large portion of viewers since it's obviously a different approach and it gives a different feeling regarding movement, but from a purely technical viewpoint is objectively well animated. The OG Trigun, always from an animation pov, had a strong start but it immediately drops the quality in the middle section of the series with all those stand alone episodes (almost the majority of them) and it regains its budget only toward the end with knives, rem episodes etc. This is way I find it baffling that a good majority of old fans bash this new project while the og trigun had a lot of problems from a technical perspective. Why did they feel the need to get rid, at least for this episode, of one of the most iconic character of this master piece. I am also baffled by the artistic choice of changing Vash's look when it goes so much against Yasuhiro Nightow's design (lets not even talk about Meryl). For those of you who wish to discover this great manga/anime please give the Madhouse version a try. |

Fair point if it's "technically" good or not, but that's for people with technical knowledge to say, I as the majority I'll dare say, are not aware of those details, we perceive it as just art, hence it's easy do decide it it's a yes or no thing, I hope that makes sence. First episode was decent, not much to add to this; animation was good, Vash was there and I want more. More Vash, the stampede in your life can never be a bad thing. Comparisons with the original series are inevitable, I choose to see this as its own thing since the original series is an untouchable masterpiece. Although I have some minor nitpicks, like how they initially introduced Vash, or how they changed the gun from the iconic .45 revolver to a .22, the show itself is amazing. The characters do not feel too different from the original and the environments are beautiful. I also cannot wait to see the show go in-depth about the angels and lost technology. One of my favorite anime films visually is Pokemon the First Movie. It combines traditional cel animation (I think?) with full blown 3D animation. Such a captivating look. I don't hate new techniques. Hell I don't hate CGI at all. There's plenty of new anime that I think look great. I do hate seeing people getting lazier and lazier and being willing to pay for garbage all for the sake of getting it faster. People seem to have no patience anymore. I'm not advocating for a return to the stone age, but by God, 1998 was freaking 24 years ago, not 1,000. I sound like I'm fuckin' 65 but I was born barely even two decades ago. No no, I understood what you meant. Although I expressed my point of view and how I see it differently myself, because I see it as a typical evolution of trends in animation, combined with the development of new technologies and how they become more popular in the industry. Something that can't be controlled, because it's determined by too many different factors (industry itself, viewers' tastes, amount of physical copies of animes sold after their premiere, merchandise sales, etc.). It's better to just enter the flow, in my opinion. Not without being critical. It's good to have your own taste, point of view or preferences when it comes to buying certain type of anime merchandise, but there are also some things that one person or even group of fans do not have control over and will never have. As for the art styles typical for certain decades, it's a matter of taste whether somebody finds one or more of them as their favorite one(s). They don't have to do much with the animation's quality or even the whole evolution of animation styles I mentioned earlier. minix_animade said: Of course the natural response is "get over it", which, fair enough I guess. But again, where will the line be drawn? If the future of anime is say, cheap shitty scribbles of generic deviantart OC equivalent characters fighting each other made in 5 seconds by artificial intelligence, I genuinely wonder if the general populace would even care as long as their waifu is in it. We are many years from the point of even considering using AI generated images in the industry, and even farther from them becoming something widely spread in the world of animation. However, such times might eventually happen one day, even if it'd be a really distant future. Like I said before, it might be another step in the evolution of animation. From hand-drawn 2D animation to 2D animation done with the help of digital techniques, through animation powered up by 3D models, ending with a futuristic vision of AI generated shows. I can see it happening. About the audience not caring much about the style as long as it appeals to their taste, well... that's how business works like. If it sells well, you get more similar products appearing on the market. If they start selling bad, then companies search for different trends that might take their place as "something that sells good". minix_animade said: I can certainly tolerate new techniques while mourning old ones past and feel fear for the future. Yeah, it's something normal. That kind of thoughts might grow in number especially when somebody is familiar with different styles of animation, has some knowledge about the industry's history itself, and perhaps even was able to experience such road of animation's evolution right away while watching shows aired during different decades before the next decade has emerges (well, it sounds kinda awkward, but I hope I worded it clear enough for everyone to understand, lol; apologies if I failed to do it). minix_animade said: Am I misunderstanding what you're saying? Maybe I talked over you. I don't think so. I mean, we both shared our opinions on the topic and commented on each other's point of views. i'm trying to be open minded about this new show, it doesn't have to be like the first one to be good in my opinion. that said, the decision to make the origin of Vash known from the get go is a terrible one. it completely takes away any sort of emotional impact from his backstory, they try to make you feel attached to these characters but if you haven't seen the original show, you don't really care about them and it's just a terrible way to start the story. if you have seen the original show, seeing the characters depicted in this form from the very start without any of the foreshadowing of the first series is extremely jarring. it genuinely made angry to see them make such an awful story decision from the very first frame. it tells me that this show won't have very good writing, nor the approach from the original, which was part of what made it incredibly cool. Vash of course, as others have said, has fuckboy hair, which doesn't make him look cool as much as it makes him look douchey. but that might just be because my head that connects that hair to douchey people. Meryl is written a bit differently from the original Meryl. alright, a lot differently. she's less capable, more naive, more obnoxious. not liking that direction. the voice acting i don't really like that much. feels like generic anime performances. makes Meryl seem like a normal high school girl, which adds to the parts of her writing that i dislike :c i didn't mind vash's voice though. i don't dislike the animation. it's a bit jarring, but it has it's moments. if the show wasn't done by Orange i wouldn't have given it a chance, so that ain't the reason im saying all these bad things about it. people are really focusing about the animation and i wan't to be clear, that's probably not gonna be this show's problem. maybe some people will dislike it for it, but if it's bad, it won't be bad because of the way it was animated. my final nitpick is that it didn't make sense for the random soldier to be able to shoot a bullet out of the air. why is a random disposable second rate character is shown to have that level of skill from the first episode? that's just... sigh. really, i ain't another one of those dumb nerds that will throw a tantrum because their beloved show is being ruined. and i won't attribute all of these things that i personally deem as flaws to bad writting from the get go, that's something we'll have to see where the shows goes from now on to decide. i had high hopes for this show, i still have some hopes left. so let's hope it gets better, but this first episode did leave a bit of a tangy after taste of bad in the roof of my mouth. |

Extremely different from the original version. Maybe because you can see that it's more animated compared with the old version. But it's kinda interesting. I liked Meryl in the original one and I kinda like it in this one. The ending song was quite interesting. |
