According to an IGN interview MAPPA wants to produce all works of Tatsuki Fujimoto in-house, meaning that the likely movie we'll be getting after 'Chainsaw Man' season 1 will most likely be 'Goodbye Eri', then maybe after they adapt 'Fire Punch' we'll probably get movie of 'Look Back'.

That might be the case for both Goodbye Eri and Look Back. So I can imagine them being adapted in the same movie format but as seperate episodes like what happens with some movies.

MAPPA taking viewer opinions and making themselves better. First the employee contract term thing inorder to offer better working environment, then their own CGI studio and now in house productions... This is exactly how Ufotable and Kyoani work
If they keep this up we can get some amazing animations in the future
I would keep quiet about overwork though, can't really justify or talk against it

Mappa does not just want his work. They want to adapt every popular shonen manga right now. Hope their animators are alive in the next few years.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Mappa has over 300 employees on their team right now. That's way higher than your regular Japanese anime studio. To put it into perspective Bones has just 80 employees, Shaft has 90 employees, A-1 has somewhere around 150 employees. Even Sunrise's team is smaller than Mappa at 293 employees. Only Toei is the studio with even more employees as they have somewhere about 1200 employees. Mappa just produces 4-5 anime a year and that's not a lot compared to the size of the team they are currently having. Mappa is just too big of a studio right now and they will need to do more money making projects to retain these high amount of employees. If Mappa won't animate these many popular, high quality shows than they wouldn't be able to sustain themselves as a studio and will fall apart. I don't think there is that much stress on the employees as people mostly make it out to be as they wouldn't be able to retain talent if they treated their employees poorly.

Definitely Ufotable and Wit are better imo, though I’d say MAPPA is on par with Bones. KyoAni does completely different stuff and I’m often not a fan of the anime they produce, but as a studio their work is great.

If they made it a movie they could do maybe a two part movie for fire punch that would make them more money than if it was a season of anime that would be censored

out of all talented mangaka out there, mappa chose this bozo? unbelievable but we're living the times where mediocrity and poor stories are valued more than art and good stories. Fujimoto is good but we have hundreds like him in the industry, we need a studio to adapt works from Matsumoto Jiro, Nihei Tsutomu or Kyousuke Motomi among other true talents that are one of a kind.

tf do you mean actual animation quality? Did you watch JJK? Did you watch the new Chainsaw man trailer? Have you seen the GoH fight scenes? MAPPA has supreme animation quality in shows that they're committed to, not all MAPPA projects end up getting butchered like AoT

I have not seen JJK, or GOH, but the chainsawman trailer not only isn't reliable as the aot trailers showed but I am 90% sure they used cg for chainsawman denji in the recent trailer

What's wrong with using CGI? I'm sure 99% of viewers didn't notice it if it was CGI plus it's still unconfirmed whether it is CGI. Isn't that the whole point of using it in the first place? How do you think Ufotable has such smooth animations? Because they use a fuck ton of CGI which reduces pressure on the artists who are actually animating the scenes. You know Tengen's earrings? Those were CGI. The coordination between employees and inhouse CGI makes it possible, which is very much the route MAPPA is going rn, with more in-house productions and their own CGI studio, just like how Ufotable and Kyoani are doing it.
It's about efficiency not raw effort.
If you wanna judge MAPPA's animation atleast watch JJK before you do it

okay I will take your advice and watch JJK, I still have a sour taste in my mouth after aot and the cg from there but one thing is that the reason why demon slayer works and aot doesn't is that you don't notice demon slayer even uses cg at all

I'll just warn you that compositing is average, that is the background and foreground blending is pretty wack. The fight animations though...

I think making a movie anthology adapting 4-5 Fujimoto one-shots, all with different directors and styles would be a super awesome way to do it.

At least more than having both Goodbye Eri and Look Back be 1 hour OVAs, lol

It would just be pretty cool, something like Animatrix or something

Chainsaw Chads keep on winning. It's basically confirmed now that Chainsaw Man will get a full adaptation by Mappa and that it will be completely inhouse. That's the best news ever. Also I would love seeing Goodbye, Eri and Look Back being turned into great anime movies as well.
