I don't download anime, I don't agree with it. I go and buy the dvds and help out the industry, and you don't have to be rich to buy anime.

Well, good for you then. But many people don´t have a place where they can buy Anime, some don´t have the money to buy even if it is "cheap".

And some lives in countries or cities where the shipping is not cheap.

So there is many reasons to why people download instead of buying, please remember that.

I download anime and I also buy a lot of anime, does that still make me a bad person?

The current largest torrent on my list is Yu Yu Hakusho at 25.1 GB, though I have not downloaded all of it. The largest torrent I've download in its completion in the past year is Dennou Coil at 8.67 GB. I think I've downloaded a few larger in the past, though, before I got my laptop...

Edit: Reading more posts on this thread makes me furious at self-righteous pricks who have their heads so far up their asses that they can't seem to understand anything outside of DOWNLOADING ANIME BAD OMG. Good frickin' day.

I think the largest for me, was every season of Sailor Moon at 37GB. Second largest would be Prince of Tennis at 30GB.

Also, some people download simply to test the series out. See if they actually even like it first, before they go shed money out on it.

It's no worse than people who completely refuse to buy anything, even if it's easy to get and they know they like it. I mean, at least anti-downloaders are following the law. :/

And calm down everyone, Battousai was just stating why he doesn't download; he never attacked anyone. Let's just stop the fights before they start, 'k?

oh, these little earthquakes

Yeah, i forgot about that. I´m one of those people. I either look at the Anime online or download it to see if i like it. If i like it i usually keep it on my HD until i have bought the whole series and then delete it.

I would never have bought all the Anime i have if i couldn't see if i liked it first.

Yea I do the exact same thing. There are times when my fiance and I are in our local anime shop, and he'll see a series that he wants to watch. I usually tell him 'let me download it first, then see if you like it'. Mind you there's not many series that he doesn't like, but it's still better downloading it first, rather then spending $50 or sometimes more, on something he doesn't know if he'll like or not.

The American anime market is killing the anime industry faster than illegal downloads ever could. Reverse importation, oh noes.

For me, 5 gigs. My internet shuts down for 12 hours after a good bit of torrenting to I tend to stick to IRC.

I DL torrents since being intro'd to them 2 months ago. but I also own numerous box sets, albeit some of them turned out to be really bad... i guess i'm saying that torrents help me view anime and help me decide which series i would like to really own, cuz seriously who would wanna shell out $60 for a set that looks and sounds good on paper (or from other people) only for it to turn out being bad???

going back to the subject... Rurouni Kenshin 1- 95 + OVA's = 22.15 GB

speaking of OVA's some of them are never released to the states so getting a hold of them other than torrenting is hard and maybe even expensive to import!!!

i downloaded a pretty hi res version of eureka seven that i think was over 11 gigs, nowhere near 30 gigs for prince of tennis...jesus.

i honestly prefer torrented anime because the fansubs are done with some taste and artistry instead of being blocky yellow letters like the official subs.

i wouldn't mind investing in filling a huge bookshelf with anime though...just for bragging rights.
