Do yoo report people as alts?
| I think as regular readers of CD we've all seen some alts of a guy recently who really loves Misaka from Toaru recently... What do you guys do when you stumble upon such a case? Do you go out of your way to find out more conclusive evidence that it's an alt and report, or do you just report people with pretty much nothing in their lists who post in CD right away, or perhaps do you do nothing at all? Previously I and another user were tragically accused of being alts of the Toaru lover by one of the many netizens of mal whom I hold dear. While I do suspect the other user who was accused of being an alt I definitely wouldn't say I suspect this user of being an alt of the Toaru lover... Instead I suspect this user of being an alt of the thread starter of some threads that got necrod earlier this month but the evidence is all flimsy and circumstantial. While I don't personally mind the alts and even came to appreciate them after viewing a helpful post about studying Japanese I hope they're taken care of, so that I due to my low postcount do not suffer the misfortune of being accused to be an alt once again... I-I'm here trying to be an idol, without a vpn or anything and living only a single life with one account. S-So please I urge you to not be presumptious and work on gathering conclusive evidence instead of haphazardly accusing people when innocent peoples life, their sole account is at stake. |
| The only Alts I like are Alt-J. Anything else is cringe or cowardly. That being said I would never report someone cuz I ain’t no snitch. Better to just turn a blind eye anyway as there's pretty much never conclusive enough evidence to accuse someone. These kind of things usually end up as senseless witch hunts as a result. You should totally get a VPN tho. |

| Well, I have publicly stated that some users were alts before, but even if I'm sure of it, I can't bother to gather proof and make a report. In those cases they were just infamous users and I was letting people know. Not everyone who makes alts does it with a bad intent. Some have personal reasons to hide their identity or start anew, and others just want to keep their hentai in a different account. I don't think it's my place to snitch in these cases, so I just keep quiet. |

| Banning an alt doesn't solve the problem as MAL has no system in place to prevent those very same people from creating a new account and starting to troll right away. Meanwhile, congratulations to the mod that deleted the friendzone thread despite violating neither rule 6 nor rule 7. All that while a thread about burning people alive is kept on the front pages of CD for almost a month. Hell, I'd volunteer myself at this point, but that means I have to stop posting, and I'm pretty sure I'm above the upper age limit anyway. |

| Depends on their motivation behind making the alt. Some people do it for the hell of it, which is fine, no harm no foul. The few times I reported alts were people who were rightfully banned for being fucked up or just posting fucked up shit in general and tried to go at it again with a new account, but the whole alt thing is really a secondary factor in these cases tbh. I do techincally have an alt that I made after MAL shut down in like 2017 I think? I was too lazy to recover this account at first cause it was tied to some ancient e-mail address and it took me a while to figure out the password. |
