Naruto is a great anime but nowhere close to being a masterpiece imo. There are shonen anime that are better in all aspects it tries to be good at. Nonetheless, I can't deny that I considered it the epitome of fiction when I first watched it(it was my first anime btw). |

It's definitely iconic for a good reason, and I enjoyed it a lot myself (maybe the nostalgia tho), but I wouldn't go as far as to call it a masterpiece. I find Shippuuden to be a lot better. |

it had a very good flow, and had a good pace with one episode of randomness to slow the pace so we can meld into the next arc. But after around Sasuke disappears. thats when it all kind went tits up and we got alot of filler like episodes for 200 or so episodes. Till Shippuden. |

Jellybeanx said: i see that you rated shippuden higher than part 1 so you think shippuden is better?Naruto is definitely not a masterpiece, however, it is a classic show. It introduced a lot of people to anime. It features a lot of excellent components such as great characters, great battle scenes, plot twists, amazing music, and so on. It is an enjoyable experience and it has had a significant influence on modern shounen anime. Overall, I believe that most kids in this community do not respect popular classic series such as Naruto, Dragon Ball, and others. I suppose they wouldn't get it. Obviously, when it comes to shows that are over 20 years old, it is difficult for the younger generation to properly appreciate them. |

Nah. Shippuden for me (untill Pain arc) was better than part 1, most people like it only because of nostalgia and in some cases like in my country there wasn't any other shounen on tv so you had no choice than watching Naruto and for me none part of Naruto was a masterpiece it ain't close for it. Naruto Shippuden till pain arc was better, Naruto s1 is below that, War arc is the worst part from 2 seasons and about Boruto I ain't even mentioning. |

Naruto kinda exemplifies the whole problem with modern politicians. At least Goku wanted to become the strongest because he loves fighting, not because he wanted attention. The show also keeps pretending that Naruto is some sort of underdog even though it's always his priviledged hack superpowers that win him every battle. I dunno about a "masterpiece", it's a pretty good show though. I think it's got decent world building and a decent story. The fights are good and more tactical. It's better then the generic dbz ripoff where they with huge energy blasts it became later. |

No, it has over 70 filler episodes in a row, that right there cancels out any chance of it being a masterpiece. The main part of the story also suffers from pace issues because of its obsession with flashbacks. The best fight in the series, Lee vs Gaara was weakened by these flashbacks. I don't have a problem with flashbacks being there, I am actually a fan of them, they just shouldn't be so long to the point where it disrupts the flow of the story. |

The animation used conventions that Western audiences would associate with Warner Bros. cartoons for what was meant to be a serious sequence lolEndlessMaria said: DOSS216 said: EndlessMaria said: Wait do you mean this? MizunoWaveRider said: Naruto is and always was about the cycle of hatred and conflict, and learning to understand one another. Every villain in Naruto has a direct hypocrisy that Naruto is able to point out to them. Naruto is about the resolve of conflict, look at every villain Naruto had faced and you will see this, it is and never was about Naruto being an underdog, this is a small subplot that was used with Rock Lee mostly and the Neji arc, but the Neji arc was also more so about Naruto pointing out Nejis hypocrisy that he believed in fate, but yet tried to change his own subconsciously.SageModeTice said: What do you think it is about, as a Naruto fan?MizunoWaveRider said: SageModeTice said: MizunoWaveRider said: Oh poor soul, how little you actually understood the show is very sadIt's just a battle shounen about a dumb kid trying to get into politics not because he has any interest in politics or ideas of how to make the world a better place, but because he's a little narcissist who wants people to notice him. If you ignore that though, it's a fun show with cool fights and tense moments, but nothing more. Yeah that's fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Naruto and I simply can't measure up. Neji didn't change his ways because Naruto convinced him of his hypocrisy, he just beat the shit out of him using his fox powers and the reason that convinced Neji is because the series pretended Naruto was an underdog before. But Neji was ultimately right, it all came down to fate in the end. The cycle of hatred theme was more related to Sasuke's character arc. Naruto's personal journey was about becoming hokage and the issue there is that he has no ideas in regards to politics. The reason he ultimately becomes hokage is not because of his ideas of how a society should be led, but because of his powerlevel. So, the cycle of hatred is a main theme, I'm not denying that that, it's just not what I was talking about. I was saying that Naruto is not fit to be a leader and the only reason he became one is because he's the best at beating up people due to his birth privileges. Having a demon inside of you that wants to possess your body and kill you at all times, and forces you to hurt your friends is not a privilege, only a character like Naruto could survive given those odds. Naruto is fit for a leader because he understands the true nature of the Naruto world and understands what does and doesn't breed further conflict, he doesn't just beat Neji physically but he utterly annihilates him philosophically, as Neji believed Naruto to be a failure, but Naruto defeated him with the very technique that he was a failure at, the shadow clone technique, which he also changed his fate by taking direct control of his destiny by mastering this technique. To say Neji was right is to miss the point of the entire franchise. Go to the pain Arc, the great toad said that he saw that Jiraiya was destined to lead the child of prophecy, someone would create great peace or destruction. Naruto once more changed fate by ending the cycle of conflict by actively choosing not to kill Nagato, but instead point out his hypocrisy... This inturn lead Nagato to revert the killing, this even the great toad himself was baffled as the destiny he saw did not come, instead there were two children of prophecy due to the actions of Naruto. This point is further implemented in the war arc as Hagoromo decides to entrust his power to not just Ashura, but this time to both Indra and Ashura reincarnates, ending the cycle of conflict. Neji was not right. |

I wouldn't say it's the worst series I've seen. But it doesn't do anything any different from other shounen action long-runners of its ilk, and I'd find it passable at best. The series peaks at Sasuke Retrieval arc and quality is otherwise all over the place with the various filler arcs afterward. |
