I guess I'm not really bothered, but rather a little irritated.

there were these really cool short scenes in the first two episodes, where Loid is deciphering some encrypted code, only to then discuss his Mission without any filters with his buddy later on in the episode.

I just think it breaks the immersion a little bit, and diminishes the importance of these small decryption scenes.

The show feels like a parody of spy stories so you can chalk it up to that

don't get me wrong, this isn't really important in the grand scheme of things.
as you said it's mainly a comedy show.

I just really liked these decryption scenes, I think they are neat!
And the discussions with his buddy don't really add to te comedy itself, but rather to confirm to the viewer, what loid's current objective is. Despite the fact that we technically already know said objective from the decryption scenes.

His buddy, franky, is also part of the same organization or whatever loid works for. That’s why there isn’t really any filter. Franky also gets him the information he needs to carry out some part of his missions

Yes, I know.
It really isn't a problem with the show, but more of a me problem.
When I see Loid deciphering his messages my nerdy brain thinks: "woah, this is kinda cool!"
, but when he discusses the mission with his friend my brain goes: "why did we bother with the decryption if we can just dicuss the mission openly anyways?"

I know it's a really small detail, that isn't important at all.
But I just really like the deciphering scenes.

I wondered for a second why a spy was just soloing a whole mob of goons, but then I remembered it's an anime. Loving it so far.
If you reply back to me and I never respond, I lost interest and don't care. Sorry about that.

Well it's kind of a parody and 'not to be taken seriously' kind of show to begin with

I think you were expecting this show to be a spy show where we can see how the spies works like "deciphering some encrypted codes" pretty much the spy stuff but it seems like you've forgot or trying unlook the comical aspect of the show. "Everything should be tackle in a much more serious way with some comic relief not with comically tackling the whole situation". Well, I think checking the tags/genre before watching an anime isn't too hard.

Why diminishes though? I think this simply points out that Loid sees Franky as a trusted ally.

It's a comedy show tho, its not always supposed to be knitty gritty, its closer to gintama type action minus the aliens

Doesn't do anything like that for me. It might though if Loid discussed it with an unrelated civilian.

have you not watched parodies base animes such like gintama bro most animes aren't meant to be taken seriously but more so for people to shut their brain off and just enjoy the entertainment

Well, he actually works for an agency, so he's not a solo spy.

Yes, I kind of get the point. Even though this is not a real spy-focused story, disregarding some or even small details of job of a spy, is a bit disappointing. For now, won't affect much, but of it continues, eventually, the spy thing spice of the story will fade and soon end up in just a plain comedy and slice of life story..which is not the reason why I was captivated by this show. Hope they balance more the seriousness of the story and the lightness as well. (Not to mention, if we'll look at the very beginning, story revolves around completing his mission of infiltrating the school to get close to his target and the overall setting of the plot as well - like some years ago or the information age era. So, yeah. Enough reason to be a little bit nitpicky about details (。•̀ᴗ-)✧

this anime is not focusing on Holywood level spying action bro. Are you going to complain why Yor didn't use a supressed assault rifle instead of a freaking piece of thorn next?

The “spy” thing in Spy x Family is mainly more portrayed as a gag rather than something to be taken seriously. It is almost somewhat portrayed as those detective shows you’ve watched as a kid (like the thing Anya watches). After all, this is a COMEDY action anime. Certain aspects are just not meant to be taken seriously

maybe diminishes is too strong of a word.
I like your point though.
Maybe the Explainy bits aren't there to reaffirm the mission to the audience, but rather to establish frankie as an ally.

@poisonedSandwich I completely agree with you. I think they should have more scenes like the newspaper, face mask, or cross word puzzle. I get letting it fade out over time but they should have it go for at least four episodes. Twilight/ Loid seems like too normal of a character to be a spy.
