| Decided to watch this episode to see what the show was like since I'd heard so much about it. I freaking loved it. Creative and funny. I then watched the next 9 episodes shortly afterward haha. |
| Ranma 1/2 is sometheing else. It very much follows the "just one more episode" syndrome. Even if a lot of the plots are not directly connected it is just so much damned fun sometimes. Not to mention Girl type Ranma is pretty cute as well. |

| I read 10 or so books of manga 10 or so years ago and now I finally get to watch anime and I have to say female Ranma is cute with those red hair (sometimes you really can't tell the difference in manga). So far this episode stay very true to original, I can't wait to see more of it :) |
| Ahh.. The nostalgia I remember I watched this when I was a kid And I definitely don't remember any nudity.. I mean there's no nudity at all Maybe the one I'm watching is the new version? | Just started ranma 1/2, fun first episode. The dub is good too, interesting characters. The visuals are so good for a 1989 series, it has aged incredibly well. |

| Another long running Takahashi work here I go! Hope this ended up being a fun watch like Urusei yatsura and not like Maison Ikkoku which I disliked because of the endless misunderstandings and being dragged way longer than it needed to be. |

| Ah man, that opening is so nostalgic. Don't remember how many years ago I watched the first episode of this on German TV, definitely more than a decade ago. This time I'll finish the whole thing though. Akane is still as annoying as back then haha. |

| In a little more than 24 years i read again the first manga volume and rewatched the pilot, also because I bought the entire DVD collection between 2005 and 2006 (5 or 6 volumes are missing but there is hope to purchase them again) Probably a bad choice, because now it is very possible that i'll binge watch it again from the start instead of looking after new series. Akane was so much better with longer hair and Genma is the "best worst" father ever. He triggered the main plot and so many others soon to be discovered... |

| Considering this is the 2nd most popular Rumiko Takahashi-sensei work I expected a lot more posts here. But the less the better for me cos that way I can read everyone's posts. I went into a retro anime rabbit hole last year starting with Urusei Yatsura. I thought I'd find my way to Ranma 1/2 eventually. Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku were pretty long so I couldn't start watching another long series right away. Lately, I've been itching for more Rumiko Takahashi anime so here I am. And boy I loved this pilot episode. I can see the OP getting stuck in my head already. The concept of Ranma becoming a girl with cold water and vice versa is so creative and fun, haven't seen anything quite like it in any other works. That made me love this series even before I started watching it. Ryuunosuke and her father from Urusei Yatsura are definitely the proto-Saotome father and son. The only thing that bothers me is hearing that Kitty Films went bankrupt during the production of Ranma 1/2 and the anime didn't quite receive the ending of the manga ever. I am so happy that Akane is voiced by Hidaka Noriko-san whom I know as Minami Asakura from Touch. I love her spunk here. I love seeing different seiyuus tackling different types of roles like how I was surprised to see Hiromi Tsuru play Keiko in Hiatari Ryoukou! immediately after watching her as Madoka Ayukawa in Kimagure Orange Road. |

| There's something about 80s/90's anime aesthetic that's just alluring. It shows it's age but not in a bad way. It's kinda nostalgic for me even though I wasn't even alive when this started airing. I like the concept for the show, it makes for some funny dynamics that could play out. Not a ton to say about episode 1 as it's just setting the scene, but I still think it does so relatively well. The pacing is a bit different then what I'd expect compared to modern anime, but I'll toss that up to the era it was made in. |
| I’m coming to this show pretty close after finishing the original Urusei Yatsura anime (I still have some OVAs and movies to go atm) because the blurays were on sale on crunch recently, decided why not and went ahead and bought the first set and this is already really fun. I didn’t think it would just throw us into Ranma and his/her (really not sure which one to use lol) dad already being transformed but I did like that the reveal was new for both the viewer and the characters, even if I already knew the twist from the synopsis lol. And right off the bat the characters and comedy are reminding me of Urusei Yatsura, must be because it’s by the same author lol, especially Ranma because i definitely get Ryuunosuke vibes, this must be what people meant by Ryuunosuke being the blueprints for Ranma, I see it now for sure. And the three Tendou sisters and their different personalities are fun as well, I can see some great moments in the future with each of them, we already saw some with Akane in this first episode. I also really liked the OP and ED, the OP was catchy and fun while the ED was pretty epic, and with that I guess I’m in for another long ride with an old school anime lol. |
