Not asking about series whose you was already fan of the source, novels or manga, before the anime even come to exist, but the ones you just met cause the anime and dropped it, but keep with the source.

I don't like to drop series, and when i do usually i'm not interested about the source.

But last year i did that with TPN season 2, How to not summon S2, and Saihate no Paladin. Before, also with 2019's Arifureta.

About these series, i was in touch with the manga version at the same time with the anime, and would like to keep watching it if it was not horrible, too much rushed or with terrible animation. But i'm still following the manga version.

How about you?

I actually completed the two seasons and they were ok, but I didn't have much experience with anime back then. I tried to rewatch it because I thought it had the potential to become one of my favorites, but I had to give up halfway through s1. Harunobu, Momo and all the loud comedic scenes were unbearable; shogi is just impossible to enjoy as a spectator, without a deep understanding of the rules and the strategies.

I tried the manga and all these issues were solved: I could gloss over the small comedic panels and the shogi explanations in a few seconds, and focus on the psychological side, which is what makes this series great.

If its only problems were the art and animation, I would have disliked Kingdom s1 too, but that's not the case. Being ugly + bad pacing is what ruins a good source material.

Some time later I decided to read the manga and now I can say that the Golden Age is the best arc in animanga ever.

I had read up to 103 chapters of The Promised Neverland before placing it on hold for Season 2. But Season 2 ended up not following the manga. So I dropped Season 2 after 5 episodes, and decided to finish the remaining chapters of the manga.

Berserk, ofcourse.

One Piece, because I've heard it has some heavy pacing issues.

You forgot Visual Novels.

I've done that with anime and games, but not because it made me rage quit.

The series would be so good, I'd invest in Video Game/Visual Novel adaptations to see what got omitted/changed or what not.

So far the only adaptation I dropped was Arifureta. Gutting the first half of Volume 1 was just enough, then hearing it also gutted volume 2 as well. That was just sheer incompetence.

kancolle. the anime was incredibly bad, and I couldn't imagine the game being like this.
the game was okayish, the anime tried to be some weird tutorial but never explained the most important things.

Tokyo Ghoul. The first season was OK-ish and followed the source material pretty decently, but changes happened in root A and I decided to stop watching the anime and bought the manga instead. Even if :Re wasn't the best sequel, it's a hell of a lot better than its adaptation.

None. Unless I can count anime that dropped ME instead by not adapting the rest and forcing me to read the source to finish it and finally see the end of the story.

Finish your anime Japan.

It didn't happen, but the closest I got was with Yamada-kun and the Seven Witches. It's not that the adaptation is awful, per se, but it glosses over integral bonding moments between the characters that make you care about them and just skips through the lore with the witches. I understand that they needed to do that for 12 episodes, but it should have been 24 instead so we got it more stretched out and the mystery felt a little more important as it does with the manga.
