I honestly think Chainsaw Man is one of the very best manga of all time, and I'd even go as far as to say it is critically underrated on this site. |
| Honestly wasn't over the moon about the first two volumes but 3 onward really up their game to an emblematic standard for the series. Pacing's indeed all over the place but the increasingly tragic character stuff and subversion of expectation's got me hooked from volume 5 onward. |

It's definitely not bad, but I've heard people tossing that 'modern classic' everywhere, so it's somewhat justified to say the hype is a bit much. Then again, this thread would've benefitted from a different title, as implying anything 'overhyped' is already meaningless for discussions. |

| It’s the same charm with Gurren Logan where it’s so over the top and absurd. It’s almost parodying the shounen genre where in the first half you can see it’s influence with how it’s following the already existing format. But the vibe, that somewhere or something is wrong, is always there which is why most of twist is so absurd but it’s not very surprising. |

| Yes chainsaw man is overhyped. The art is trash and I can draw better than Tatsuki Fujimoto, but the art isn't even the worst thing about it. The mangaka thinks that none of the characters having plot armor is a good idea and more people die = better story, but that is not true and we end up with random characters that appear for 3 chapters at max killing other random characters who have spoken maybe 2 sentences (sometimes even none). And 90% of the characters wear suits and look the same, and when you combine this with the horseshit art you stop understanding what is happening. For 1 whole chapter I thought that someone died but then came back a few chapters later and at first I thought this was bullshit but then I re-read the last chapter twice very carefully and found out that he wasn't actually killed, he was the one who killed the guy I thought was him. I cannot comprehend that someone thinks this abomination is a masterpiece. |

| For I have read the whole manga I can say it was a great manga and I really enjoyed it a lot, I scored it a 10 for how entertaining it was and the monster designs, but like all mangas and anime, it will always have plot gaps that really don't get answered before the story finishes. They're not that many but it gets compensated with how good the story is in my opinion. I think should give a shot again, Story is chaotic and fast paced but it also gives you time to breathe and analyze what happened before with some wholesome chapters, there's plot twists, and has some funny moments, the art in the manga is awesome in my opinion, I know there better art in other manga but the art in this manga. is different that I really like it. Like mentioned before, if you like, I would recommend you give it another shot and just let the manga unfold at its own chaotic and funny pace. Also the fights are awesome, and the double page panels are amazing. For me I never got bored while reading the manga, compared to other stories where you might feel overwhelmed and feel a bit bored while reading. Now the anime might be a bit overhyped I myself include myself for overhyping a bit, but I'm also a bit worried for the anime to not be adapted correctly and be on par with the manga. I Mostly think the anime is overhyped because of the fights and characters, and also the story a bit, but mostly the former. So as said earlier and last time saying this, I think you should give it another go if you want, if you have similar taste as me, you won't be disappointed |

| Well buddy maybe because some of us don't let other's expectations dictate their enjoyment and we didn't quit after chapter two. Anytime I see it's over/under hyped I see someone complaining that they pay attention way more to the community than they should rather than figuring out for themselves what to expect. I went in expecting a gorey over the top battle shonen I got that in spades plus some good characters/development, interesting power system and a fun villain. I didn't go in with that much hype and was rewarded. I mean what did you actually expect out of it? What actual expectations did you have for it where it could have satisfied your hype? |

| maybe read more then 2 chapters of a manga before deciding it's overhyped. It's only 20 pages per chapter (well expect for the first one), but you haven't even touched the surface of the manga so I would suggest reading more before giving an opinion like that. |

| Dropping it after two chapters seem exagerated, i liked it a lot but the last arc felt rushed, the characters were good and i liked a lot everyone except power, but it lacked something, 8.5 but has re-reading value |
| imo all fujimoto tatsuki's manga are exceptional, his way of storytelling is indeed a one of a kind in his gen. but to glorify only one title kinda a bit of overhyping it |
| You have to read more than just 2 chapters to come to a proper conclusion. Anyway CSM is definitely good but has a couple of problems with it's characterisation. Mostly with how Makima was handled. Minor problems but overall really great. I think people overhype CSM because it is by far the most subversive manga in Shonen Jump right now. Nothing that takes place in the manga is cliché from what I remember but that doesn't necessarily mean it's a classic or a masterpiece in any capacity. Fujimoto's also got his unique sense of storytelling that sets it apart from other Shonen titles so that might also explain the hype. Basically, I think it's overhyped but my opinion doesn't really matter so if someone says that they think CSM will break the internet by trending on twitter for a day or two then I'll just say "okay" and move on. It's best not to fight against the hype because that will just label you as a "hater" or something idk. |

And also if u think it's a alt acc check my bio........ How you going to call something "overhyped" just because you didn't enjoy the first two chapters of the manga. That is literally %2.062 of the manga. At least read like 20 to 30 chapters to have clear view of what the manga is about and have a valid reason on why is overhyped. You could say that you didn't enjoy it as much as others because it wasn't your type of manga. But that doesn't mean it's overhyped because maybe ... just maybe .... other like those types of manga more than you do. In my opinion it's a 9/10 but I would't call it a masterpiece or perfection at it's finest. |

| From the looks of it i am gonna say that It's gonna be next big thing which is gonna be hated after the anime drops, it always the case as things get popular and then everyone talks about it and then youtuber uploads reaction and then twitter blast it, and then crunchyroll gives it anime of the year award and then people talk more and then it's everywhere and then all MAL goes "oH iT'S oVeRhYpeD aNd OvErAtED" Saw it happening with Kimetsu no Yaiba and also with Jujustsu Kaisen, it's nothing new. It's Weeb Culture in General. |
