This show is really surprised me with the events sad it's interesting, even the episode had several good things I liked how Gugu still has his fear of showing Gugu's face, There was a great revelation of Gugu's past with Gugu's brother, you can already see that Gugu already lived a good life at one time, this was highlighted in Gugu's past.

This ending was very interesting more enemy to face the fushi.

That was a sad twist regarding Gugu's story. He once thought they were his real family at one point I thought the same too! That's how good the Anime does in manipulating the minds of the viewers.I was getting confused why they were leaving the two behind but then I realized...and it caught me off guard a bit.
His brother is an asshole,ngl.
The relationship between both Gugu and Reana as well as Gugu and Fushi are so wholesome. In creating personalities the Anime does best.

Someone please tell me there's a twist in Lynn's background story because I'm finding it harder and harder to connect with her. Not to mention it's kinda infuriating how she never noticed a huge ass log rolling down towards her direction and simply thought she got pushed out of rudeness.

Leaving that aside, it was nice to see Gugu and Fushi's bond getting stronger. Looking forward to seeing Gugu going full Charmander next week.

I also don't understand how she didn't noticed the log when it was right in front of her.Kinda feels forced, ngl.

Fantastic episode! Really jebaited us with that Gugu "death" lmao, that got me in the manga. He just fell asleep cause the food Fushi made was what Hayase fed them in Yanome, which had the sleep drugs.

Fushi running to find Gugu's mask was adorable, it's nice to see Fushi being able to express worry now. Reann's problems compared to Gugu is definitely way smaller, but that's the point, she's a sheltered rich girl that just wants to be free. Fushi, Gugu and Reann have became closer, you love to see it.

Knowing what happens next, I am really excited for the next episode.

So Fushi can now just make infinite food, with no repercussions? It could literally go and solve world hunger if it wanted, but apparently fucking with people by going bear mode in the middle of town (seriously, no guards tried to deal with that and protect the townsfolk?) is a much more productive use of its powers.

As for Rean's grievances about her life, they're the very definition of first-world problems compared to Gugu's and Gugu is right to call her out on that. Also, while I can just about swallow Rean not seeing the log that Gugu pushed her out of the way of (given she was focusing on flowers or something instead), how the fuck could she not hear it? It was barrelling down the hill at speed and it must have made a substantial sound when it went over the edge and landed on the hard riverbank below. Seriously, such weak writing to drag this arc and its reveal out.

Speaking of weak writing, when did Fushi learn about empathy and deception on any level, let alone to be able to even conceive of that manoeuvre of turning into March and crying as a distraction to let Rean and Gugu run away? This series seems to have a bad habit of making characters act more intelligent than they should believably be, and that's just another example of that.

Also, was the image supposed to be flickering between the normal colour palette and slightly darker during Gugu's flashback? That was severely distracting and made that scene more or less unwatchable for me, regardless of the actual content.

Beyond that, there was some seriously bad, childish comedy in this episode, from Gugu and Fushi messing around in town to Rean trying to drag Gugu out of hiding to get a glimpse of his deformed face.

Favorite episode so far. I really loved the dialogue between Gugu and Rean, this is the kind of stuff where Yoshitoki Ooima shines the most brightly, and the adaptation really delivered

The contrast in struggles between Rena and Gugu is very much put on display here. It's gotta be kinda comical being Gugu and listening to that, but the point is that everyone is struggling in their own way, even if you can't empathize or understand yourself.

But looks like bigger plot shit is gonna happen next ep. Feel like Gugu is gonna end up dead and Fushi will use that to beat the tree thing.

Can't wait until Fushi realises he's stronger with allies i.e. a brother. I hope it's not a sad next episode.
Also, have to say, it's weird Fushi went for a March transformation when he could've done bear transformation to scare nanny off - especially since they had so much fun with it at the beginning of the episode.

A nice light episode this week... well apart from that really sad story about how Gugu thought his family left him only to find that he never had a family to begin with. It's so heartwarming to see Fushi expressing himself more and more through his bond with Gugu - they make for an adorable duo!

I've seen that a lot of people don't like Rean but I actually like her tbh. She comes across as ignorant and privileged but it's purely because of the way she's been raised. As she said; she's never been allowed to make her own decisions, freely express her self or truly experience the real world. She's a good person and in her current situation & with the people around her, there's no way she won't develop.

Its now episode 9 and its getting good.. in this episode, we finally know why lynn ran away from home, and comparing it to gugus story, it seems very incomparable.. and those children with enough security would become spoiled over time, which is why gugu has it 10x tougher.. in which she doesnt yet appreciate enough on what she really has.. tho i really understand her very well, that she wants the freedom to experience many things, just like me before.. but after growing up, i realized more on what i have, and what i have gained thru some experiences and imagination.. so i bet she will come to terms on her situation later.. also, gugu has quite the hard past.. which makes u imagine if what it may feel if ur in his shoes.. tho what would gugu do now? Now that he has encountered fushis enemy.. and will he ever survive? Anyways, i rate the episode a 4.5 of 5, 4.5 for both story and art.. :)

being gugu is just ENDLESS PAIN

all jokes aside, i love crying during every episode of gugu's arc so far haha /s TToTT!!! this episode was all the more emotional seeing he's sort of resigned any aspirations he had in for the future because of his current fate, but still keeps going despite everything--especially the way he accepted his mortality, being content that fushi would remember him by taking his form if he ever died. truly a tragic yet beautiful character. my brother who has read the manga warned me heavily not to get too attached to gugu but mission failed already since the first episode of the arc!!!

it was really nice seeing fushi recall his past interactions with the characters weve met on their journey so far, nameless boy making me more emotional than i had thought. its as they say-- as long as youre remembered, you never really truly die so to speak. the same can be said about the march and nameless boy.

She hates the guy who pushed her.I don't understand why she didn't see the log coming in her way and it was so obvious that boy was just saving her. That's why Gugu thought she'll hate him.Even if he showed his face to her she'll hate him either way even without knowing it was him who pushed her.I don't believe Reena will still like him even after seeing his face.

so fun seeing Gugu and Rean conversation! i wonder what would the reaction of Rean once she founds-out that the reason why Gugu's face became like that is because of her...
oh man! we have another strong enemy of Fushi! i hope they would be able to get away and deal with this!!!

The first time Rean was introduced, I didn't quite like her character and thought she would play a negative role but now I have to take my words back, I didn't expect Rean to have such a commendable character development, tho the fact that she didn't notice that huge log rumbling and rolling towards her still pisses me off -_- And Fushi and Gugu's bond is just growing to be more beautiful.

The problem of Rean is too small compare to Gugu, but I can't blame her lol she's sheltered all her life and didn't know that there's people who don't live a life like hers. Also, typical girls who make big deal to a small wound but I hope she will know that Gugu saves her.

I have a bad feeling about Gugu going back to save Fushi. I gotta prepare myself for the next episode.

More of Gugu's painful to know backstory. It's basically a sequence of him getting abandoned by the people he thought were family. Despite his gloomy past, he still manages to accept it and move on slowly with life. It's another thing that made me appreciate more his character.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

A much needed brief backstory between Gugu and his previous 'family'. It has become painfully apparent that Gugu is an orphan, and his previous brother being his older co-worker with them together serving as a servant of a family.

It doesn't help that there's barely anyone who can relate and empathize with his circumstances. Even Rean who wanted to know Gugu better cannot comprehend the difficulties that Gugu is facing. In fact, her problems and circumstances are the opposite of Gugu, what she labels as an annoyance, a bother and a hassle, this tightly knit overprotective bond that her family has for her, all this... That is what Gugu have always wanted. To add salt to the injury, she thought that the 'person' who pushed her aside was someone who hated her father when in reality, her life was saved by that one selfless sacrifice, a sacrifice that Gugu paid for silently. And yet

However not all things are negative, I'm really liking Rean's attitude to accepting Gugu for who he is, so far, he knows Gugu only the distillery (not the market), but not as the hero who had once saved her life. Through a shared similarity, in the form of their scars though are vastly different in severity, this allowed them both to reluctantly, but steadily share their perspective regarding the struggles they face. There's always the first step that needs to be taken for people to connect and know more from one another, so this is a step in the right direction.

I love the scenes whenever Gugu took Rean's hand as they ran off towards true freedom. Let Gugu show you the unrestrained feeling of being able to do whatever you please!

I don’t think the point of her scar being so “trivial” & small was to dismiss Gigi’s trauma & pain, it’s that everyone has their own burdens & challenges. What’s unimportant to you may be very important to others. And Gugu was dismissive of her burdens before he realised what she was going thru too.

I hope Gugu doesn’t die.........he deserves to be happyಥ﹏ಥ

Shin wasn’t always a terrible brother to Gugu. Their circumstances got the better of them.....I hope he will change his ways and make amends with Gugu....
