| By "Greatest", I mean by popularity and by quality. Currently, I think Lelouch is the greatest, but Eren may pass him. I'm not sure, I haven't read the manga. (I totally also forgot about Goku, Spike and Gon, they're pretty good as well) |

| I like some MCs but it seems I always love one of the side characters more. Um, I'm going through Berserk right now and Guts is great, but from thread poll I guess I'll go with Light Yagami. He was a great, non-self-insert character, and I appreciate that his series afforded him permanent losses unlike most other MCs. |

| Natsuki Subaru, although I wouldn't say he is objectively the greatest but he is my favorite out of all of these, but he's still really well-written regardless, he has a lot of good development especially in later content in the novels, the way his character is explored and developed is really good in my opinion. |
