The girl main character was a prostitute, one of the males is a gigolo. One of the characters in Saraiya Goyou used to be a geisha. Space Dandy has an equivalent of Hooters, if that counts. One character in Rainbow was a male prostitute If you also want to count sleeping with someone just to gain power/rise through the ranks, that applies to characters in Banana Fish and Kuroshitsuji II I went through my entire list for this, but I still might have missed something, so if I did, I apologize. |

| If you are fine with manga, Blush-DC. It's the only one I can think of where the industry is really discussed. Most anime/manga with prostitute MC are just a name while the industry itself hardly discussed. They aren't the main point. You may have a prostitute MC in GIGANT (a manga by gantz's author), but it doesn't focus on the prostitution. Still, it's better than most manga/anime that has an MC who has a job like that. There's also a manga discuss about sex activity among celebrity and idol, Idol na Kanojo to Wotaku na Boku to. Doesn't really fit what you're looking for though. |

| Aside from the mentioned: Call me tonight is a fun over-the-top OVA, the main female is a call girl. Gintama has a lot of characters doing sex or sex-related work. The older sister of one of the main characters is a cabaret hostess. There are male hosts as well. The Red Light district is a recurring scenario and some prostitutes and geishas become relevant characters as well. In the currently airing Banana Fish It's not shown in the movie, but the women who stand with Lady Eboshi at the Iron Town in Princess Mononoke are ex-prostitutes. And if you include porn and erotic content creation in general, one of the main characters of Comic Girls draws an official hentai release, one of the side plots of Welcome to the NHK involves the MC and his friend trying to develop an eroge game, etc. |
