Not being familiar with LN, but reading manga i thought it was pretty good adaptation while feeling it is somehow different and lacking something. People said back there that manga is different/(worse), but i really liked manga version.
Also closer to the ending they started cramping stuff, with one more episode it might've been better. The pacing felt really different, it took me quite a while reading something like 40+ chapters, but here it felt it ended so fast.
Remember while reading, still the same, the weirdest/craziest thing was how crazy Eris was and that made her really unlikeable. As things progressed she definitely changed, but still.
Waiting for continuation and seeing Roxy again =/ Overall 8/10
Tomislavr7 said: Unfortunately, the author didn't have an idea of what to do with the story in the big picture and so it looked like random events occurred just to force some things to happen, most notably the mana disaster or whatever it was called and the "god". There was just no overall plot in this story;
Except that there is a plot and those things happened for a reason, it just hasn't been explained yet. It will be a while but it all does get explained. It wasn't just a "OHH THE AUTHOR DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS DOING" Sorry that you actually have to wait to find out. You know since this was known from the start that it was going to be a split season.
It's bad enough so much has to get skipped to condense this down into an anime.
If anything's written in later on, that's better than it forever being ignored, but still not worthy of any praise. It's bad writing and it still doesn't change the fact that these 11 episodes didn't have any semblance of overall plot. That's a really bad base and the structure can only be as good as the base allows it to be. A good mystery story doesn't make things impossible to relate or discern, but only hides them and their connections well enough while also providing something satisfactory in the meantime. There's nothing of the sort here, and I likely won't bother with the second season to find out whatever patching the author may or may not put into this story.
Really, the only downside of this adaptation was they choice to rush volume 3 out, a lot of info was missed from the cuts they made, which they tried to give back with some degree of success.
I was looking for that scene where Rudeous cries and opens up to Ruijerd more, but oh well, it was good they way they did it aswell.
Great fights for the last episode and in the end, it did not feel much like they were traveling through the demon country, because they did cut out a lot of those scenes, which we see glimpses of with the credits.
Demon country needed more love than just 3 episodes, but whatever.
Really good adaptation outside that, I did NOT enjoy volume 4 as much as 5-6, so I can also guess the beggining of next cour will be a bit slow for most too.
errr...why the heck is Eris so strong!? i mean Ruijerd is already a given but how the heck is Eris that OP and still so young...hmmm maybe for the plot thingy?
like everyone else said...boring final episode for 1st season but w0w! it got a high rating here at MAL!

Alright first off, whoever the hell https://myanimelist.net/profile/1014 is a judgemental moron holy crap. Like what kind of shitty review is this?
The start of the show we see the MC being reborn and still thinking as kind of an old creepy guy. But his character growth throughout the show is amazing, he stops being a creepy guy and truly wants to be helpful. There is so much redemption for this character by episode 11. The animation for this show is absolutely stunning. Some of the best animation I've seen in a good while. As for an Isekai, this is how it should be done. He is forced to basically start life over and not everything is just given to him. he struggles and fights to be the best he can be. Sure he is gifted with magic, but he has to learn how to be a decent human still. I'm honestly so sad this is over and cannot wait for the next season. The show shifting to the actual plot and their adventures has me so hyped. It has been awhile since i've eagerly waited for a show.
Well I tried to like this adaptation to the very end, it was going well but this episode felt so dry and hollow... It's well animated but that's it, I found it hard to connect with the characters and their struggles as I did in previous episodes.
I suppose I raised my expectations too high. I'm grateful they animated this series but this is far from being the perfect isekai people claim it to be.
It was a decent episode still, and despite some questionable moments, a decent season overall.
I wish they'd adapted this section a little slower - I know it breaks neatly at the end of Volume 3 the way they did it and some of the quests that the two groups swapped were completely omitted and some might consider them filler - but it does show how Rudy's mind is working and how Eris is powering-up. Also the showdown with the horse guy in the LN is more satisfying (he basically pisses & shits his pants when Ruijerd's hair turns green). And it explains where the lizard they're travelling on in the credits comes from.
Also they skipped the team meetings where the first thing Eris brings up is "Rudy should stop sniffing my underwear when he's doing the laundry" then she learns how to do the laundry and secretly sniffs Rudy's underwear when no-one is watching...
Rudy & Eris's relationship has developed from him thinking she a spoilt Tsundere and a chore to teach to someone he would kill many people to protect.
Yes Rudy's a pervert, Yes Eris is a violent Tsundere but by the end of this Cour either of then would die to protect the other.
I wonder what some of the haters will make of "Elinalise Dragonroad" - should be interesting....

Yeah, I was caught by surprise at how agile Eris was in the episode. The anime did omit the part where her, Rudy, and Ruijerd trained for a couple days before reaching Rikarisu, but I didn't expect such power from her.
That was a wrap! Its given that Rujierd and Rudy are pretty OP but famn I wasnt expecting Eris to be that strong like she cut that huge ass snake in half LOL. And Rujierd new look doe 👀.
Cant wait for the next season, there really was no climax since it’s definitely still building up for the next season, hope it comes sooner than expected!
Also the top reviews, they dont belong there lol tf
It was a decent isekai
But clearly has pros and cons
Pros-
- Great animation. I am pretty sure it was one of the best animation I have seen for ever seen for a isekai. Even the art style is really good
- great adaptation with extreme details. (By detail like activation of magic to language consideration to money management skill and to MC natural power progression, it definitely appears to have realistic appeal)
- very clever writing skills ( story has depth and the fantasy world development feel's natural. There are many trick dialogue also used to through out the story to cover up story faults. eg - mc was admiring his mother's breasts. so author cleverly put dialogue like "he is not feeling the libido for her" so that story doesn't fall under incest category while maintaining it's perverse view or another eg is Paul was teaching his less than 10 year old son to seduce girls and author cleverly put up dialogue of self realization saying "what is he teaching his son" to lessen the effect of bad parenting )
- kind of good adventure (at least after episode 9 and beyond)
Cons-
-Action is extremely lacking. The most we get is a nobody cameo villan servant and his gang at episode 5 and fight with cobra towards the end. (I feel like the godly animation is wasted on a such action lacking story. )
- Story is not very interesting for me (even with all the well written details). It may be too much slow pace paced for my taste. It took around 9 episode to get to some actual plot development. Even after that I didn't feel plot has much to offer other than from a the adventure perspective or harem/perverse (chick banging) perspective. I don't like harem so I can only look forward to the adventure addition
-Fan service for perverts (not only is the mc is pervert, but the view of author through his work is also perverse. There are details like father-mother banging voices, girls masturbating, every man is shown as hoe, these was even a scene where eris's father tells mc that he will tie his own daughter to bed and whether MC want to bang her or not. The real problem is this kind of perverse behavior is portrayed in a wholesome manner...That's just double standards. Wholesomeness and perversion should not go hand in hand)
-lastly character are well written weirdos. I hate Paul (mc's father) more than protagonist. He is a manwhore shown as a wholesome father teaching his son perversion (even if the son was already a pervert to begin with). I also find scene like MC talking back to his father and how his father turned submissive or how mc manipulated his mother into keeping the mistress maid very unrealistic. No matter how I think a child telling his mother to keep the mistress at home is a invitation for getting a spanking in ass. Real humans should be more bitter and non-wholesome people. (Mushoku Tensei's world is in extreme need of concept of divorce and me too movements). Also the the eris chick is the biggest weirdo, the scene where the demon adventurer asked her (and her group) to join them and she beat the shit out of them, was really the most toxic potrayal of tsundere I have ever seen. It doesn't help that eris family are libido freaks with beastman fetish or every girl in paul's adventuring party is his sexual partner. A lot of characters need genuine counselling (it's not just the protagonist)
Overall still it's better than many isekai , but I can't consider is one of the best isekai. My rating was like 6/10 around till episode 9. But after episode 9 since story become much more richer, It is a 7/10 for me
In the end, I have to say it's like a violet evergardan/Somali and the Forest Spirit style anime made for pervert which happens to be a isekai. No hard feelings but its true
A very pleasant surprise. Enjoyed it a lot, from the monologues to the art style. I do think anyone is missing out a lot if you're simply turned off by all the lewd scenes in the series. Whether that was necessary for story/character building is another whole new debate. Definitely can't wait for season 2!

It started out really good. Story is a bit fast pace but I get it. And then we have the Eris arc when the story is a bit slower and ended up uninteresting (and what the hell the dancing episode all about??) This arc also features so much fanservices that is not even needed at all.
But then we have good stuffs in the end, with suddenly out of nowhere green hair Superd story ended the boring Eris arc
good story, well written and believable character specially the mc who is a disgusting pervert scum no life hikki who act like one that is really great and consistent,i mean how many time in anime character claimed "im a pervert" but actually is not, while here the pervert is actually a disgusting pervert.
the problem mostly in pacing, because of time skip, its understandable because of obvious reason but still, the production is amazing,u can see clearly the passion of the staff from studio bind, they arent playing around here, clearly the best "fantasy" from typical isekai so far, hands down.im gonna wait for second cour.

Again you have this notion that the author just patched things in later on. Sorry but no that's not how it is. There are a lot of details that get explained later on like for example the Mana disaster. No one in the story knows what the hell it is, yet you expect to be giving hints and details about it and it's bad writing because the author didn't? that doesn't make much sense.
" A good mystery story doesn't make things impossible to relate or discern"
Welcome to the first season of Higurashi known as Questions because nothing gets explained to you. You have to watch the second season for it to start making sense. But I guess with your attitude you wouldn't bother.
Again this "season" was cut short because the studio wanted to take a break in-between so of course it's going to seem weird since it was originally supposed to be a full 24 eps. as it is there there is no way they can fit all of the novels within that amount of time successfully.
A friend of mine said this to me and yeah I've seen this so many damn times.
"You know, in mainstream TV and films, directors get praised for dropping something mysterious and then using it as a major plot point later on.
Yet in anime the audience is so dumb that it legitimately cannot cope without being spoon fed information about things as they happen."
Nice team work! Rudeus, Eris and Rujierd easily defeated three monsters! They still need plenty of time to restore the reputation of Superd but at least they are progressing!
This is getting more fascinating! Excited for the next season!
I think it's great that Rudeus has another friend who isn't a child, Ruijerd. They seem to be getting along well despite having different morals/motivations.
Rudy is certainty easy to hate, and I think that's intentional, and more realistic. I'm impressed.
Well, i pretty much really late to the train hype. But this final is very good. They, Rudy, and Ruijerd finally reached the aggreement to be more cooperative. Not to mention that Eris becaming more pretty, cute, and stronger like hell. Looked at her movement. Damn, kid! Also, that Paul and his family missing situations, then Roxy. Well, the complicated matter at that Paul thing can be easily swiped out. Paul could wrapped that shit easily, right? Not to mention Roxy finally had a movement after whats she's done previously. In the end, i just need to see more of Eris and Rudy's journey.
As an overall, its not just Rudy and his too overly done schematic modern plan to got more reputation. Then not just Ruijerd and his overprotectiveness anger against his child idealism. The two different souls reached the conclusion to ended their desperation of the previous failure. Its about time to got more great adventure moments ahead as a better team. That's it. Very solid start, i am satisfied with the direction. Simple. Even though the pace looked very snail. But its fine. Peoples really need these kind of isekai story telling telling. Chill and easy going....
About the character, Rudy, just funny. I don't care hell with the soul inside of that funny boy. Sugita just closed it very well done without much complain for me. The waifus just beautiful. I couldn't explain more with this way as a beneficial to increased my enjoyment. The art of the classic attempt was very good, even though some layer of frames kinda tickling me, and the music theme song really suited well too in these kind of story.
So, if you don't find Rudy appealing, the story just too basic, and the heroines disgusted you like crazy, ofc the reviews shall be understandable. Its just a well-balanced. However, as a cultured person, i mark this one in my 9/10 easily.
Hide and seek is the best offline games on this fatamorgana-called-world-thing. Please comment nicely. I am newbie here.
Cant wait to see season 2. Hopefully next season we learn what that storm was that destroyed Rudy's village. Hope to learn what also became of Zenith, Aisha, and Lilia since they were separated from Paul and Norn. Also I hope Ghislaine is okay. Looks like Rudy and his party will reunite with Roxy and her two new companions at that port city.
Ruddy and eris are getting closer as they journey across the world. Ruijerd bucked himself with the bald cut. It looks good on him. Loved how anime didn't make the last episode big cos its as if the journey isn't over
oh boy i have a treat for u for from Wiki, lets just say he ends up with small harem if u want to know more then spoilers below
Wives
Sylphiette Greyrat
Rudy met Sylphy at the age of 5. When Rudy saved her from getting bullied, he protected her and then they became friends. Rudy taught her magic so that she could defend herself from bullies. Rudy originally thought she was a boy because of her short hair. He had planned to use Sylphy to pick up women. However, one day, after getting wet in the rain and not wanting Sylphy to catch a cold and as a prank, he forcefully stripped her and learned that she was not a boy. She was extremely attached to Rudy and Rudy intended to bring her with him to attend a magic university. When he asked his parents to pay for both of their tuition but was rejected, he was willing to work so that he could earn her tuition as well, seeing Sylphy getting attached and started to overly depend on Rudy, Paul separated them and forbade Rudy to contact home because Sylphy was becoming too dependent on Rudy. They were supposed to reunite in five years once Rudy became 12 and attend a Magic University together, but because of the events of the Mana Calamity caused her whereabouts to be unknown to Rudy. After 8 years, they finally reunited in Ranoa Magic Academy, but he could not recognize her since she was disguised as a boy, wearing sunglasses, and no longer had her emerald green hair due to it turning white. After many encounters, Rudy eventually realized that Sylphy, who goes by the name Fitts was a girl. After Sylphy recreated a childhood event and was able to make Rudy realize that Fitts was Sylphy, Rudy took her virginity after she gave him an Aphrodisiac to cure him of his illness. The day after she lost her virginity to Rudy, he cut out a piece of bedcloth that contained some of Sylphy's blood and put it in a box, worshipping it like what he did with Roxy's panties. They soon got married and Sylphy got pregnant with their daughter Lucy, and son Sieghart Saladin Greyrat.
Roxy Greyrat
Rudy met Roxy at the age of 3 and learned magic and many other things from her. At the age of 5 during his graduation from Roxy's lesson's she cured him of his fear of the outside and for this Rudeus was extremely grateful for. From then on, they only talked by letters. By the time he had split up with Eris, Rudeus had began worshiping Roxy's artifact (panties) and hailed her as his god for what she had done for him. When they were finally reunited Roxy didn't recognize Rudeus which led to him being in shock before she found out who he was. When Rudy was grieving about Paul's death, Roxy came to his aid and had sex with him, making him feel better. After the events of the Teleport Labyrinth, Roxy becomes Rudy's second wife. They had two daughters, Lara and Lily Greyrat.
Eris Greyrat
Rudy met Eris at the age of 7. He went to teach her language, math and magic. After the events of the Mana Calamity, they traveled together through the Demon and Milis Continent. When the trip was over and they managed to come back, Eris and Rudy had their first night together and the next morning Eris was gone. this caused Rudeus to enter a state of depression and he contracted ED. After 5 years, they reunited after battling Orsted and Eris became Rudy's third wife. Due to Rudeus' low skill in swordsmanship, Eris became his partner and swordswoman whenever they set on an adventure. She helped Rudeus during the fight for the crown in the Asura Kingdom, defeating North Emperor Auber with Ghislaine. During the final fight with Gisu, she took on the Sword God Gal Farion with Ruijerd splitting them away from Rudeus. They had two children together, Ars and Christina Greyrat.
Children:
Lucy Greyrat
Rudy and Sylphy's daughter. When she was 3 years old. she had a tendency to run away from her father whenever he came back because she didn't see him as a father but a complete stranger which was caused by him often being away from home. Later on she grew close to him, enjoying the time spent with him and complaining about his work taking him away from her.
Lara Greyrat
Rudy and Roxy's daughter. She has a strong look on her face and she hardly ever cries. The only time she really cried was when Rudeus was going to go to Shirone and she didn't stop crying until Rudeus decided to take Roxy with him. She is also the legendary Hero that the Sacred Beast is supposed to protect.
Ars Greyrat
Rudy and Eris' son. Loves Boobs like any other Greyrat Male. He especially likes his mother's breasts, but he is not limited to just big ones. He likes small ones like Sylphy's and Roxy's to large ones like Rinia's and Pursena's. Like his father, he does not discriminate between the sizes. He does not care much for males and will cry whenever Rudeus tries to picks him up to hold him.
Sieghardt Saladin Greyrat
Rudy and Sylphy's son. He has a green hair almost like his mother and he had a face similar to his father. Rudeus and Sylphy initially thought he is the reincarnation of Laplace and brought him to Perugius and confirmed it wasn't. Also, his real name is only Sieghardt Greyrat, he got Saladin name from Perugius and due to Rudeus and his family already liking his name, Saladin became his middle name.
Lily Greyrat
Note: This section is under construction and revision.
Christina Greyrat
Rudy's and Eris' daughter and the youngest child of the family. Amongst the siblings, she is the one that is most open about wanting to be spoiled by Rudy. She's a daddy's girl and listens to him rather than to her mothers. Rudy was skeptical at Christina's attitude when she first attended Asura Royal Academy as she was naive. However, after three years he attended her graduation and was impressed when she turned around a plot to embarass her in front of the nobles and Ariel. Afterwards, Rudeus showed her he was proud of what she became but was shortly interrupted when Edward, the son of Luke and Ariel, asked for her hand in marriage.
I like how they showed that not everything will go the way you want them to go.
Even though Eris is annoying most of the time but when she fights she's actually really cool. Really enjoyed their teamwork this episode.
Good thing Ruijerd and Rudy fixed the awkwardness between them by talking it out.
Ruijerd is really difficult to handle when it's about kids. I wonder what he'll do if a kid he saved becomes like the one he beheaded when they grow up.
With that thing on the forehead, Ruijerd now looks like an exposed ninja XD
SirTristamSfan said: I checked, they seemed to have removed a lot of monologue. wtf. That monologue is the part which redeems rudeus. Seems like they are stressing more or action component and leaving behind the character development same as sword art online
I think it's fine tbh, they show his development through actions rather than words. Also them adapting all of the Rudy monologues would quickly turn this show into more of a ted-talk rather than a fantasy adventure.
Agreed - the medium of a book is much different, and much more expressibe, than a visual medium. Still, at least with anime, they have more control over expression, and that helps somewhat. I understood that Rudy felt scared meeting Ruijerd - still, I might re-read this arc in the novel anyway, since I'm a monolgue/character fan :P
Can anyone tell me what the garden scene was all about? Im good with spoilers, since we're past that anyhow
also felt it was too shot, man was hoping theyd animate some more since im lost with the manga and dont feel like rereading it. the current arc* in the manga is very meh and i hope they shorten it by a ton as the readers said after that it starts to get better...
I don't really know why I picked this show. Probably a recommendation, but I am surely grateful.
Now, I am not a huge fan of the isekai genre. But this one was different. Of course I enjoyed the moans and the fanservice, it was a great addition, and a reality check that almost every isekai forgets to use as a decoy to attract more viewers.
Sugita as the main neet was another good choice. Overall, I enjoyed it. Great animation, great designs. The music was not memorable, though. The only music I remember is the ending song.
Last episode was the worst in my opinion. A lot of bad drawings here and there, and I hope the time skip wasn't that big. I was really enjoying some squad development, but I guess Asura Kingdom awaits. Hope the second part continues being interesting.
7/10
"Manga readers are annoying, all they do is complain or spoil the anime we discuss in an anime forum. They should really do their whining at manga forums."
Stolen from Janethan23. Add in visual novel readers too
I had high expectations for the Finale (like I always do for any anime). And I can say that it met those expectations. It went dark pretty quick, with Rudy trying to be the last-minute savior, for it to immediately backfire heavily with that brutal execution. Poor dude.
Looks like the whereabouts of Rudy's family members are unknown at least that's the case for Zenith and Norn. Wonder how it will develop on that in the future. Besides that it was nice to see Roxy again, she appeared to have formed a party of her own.
Overall, the anime was a very good experience. The arts, the music, the animation, the story; And the characters, tons of character development, mainly Eris, which went from a typical Brat to a likable character (still kept her violent demeanors, but I like that). Haven't read the source material, so I don't know how it compares to it, but I felt like the pacing was okay. Very few actions, but the very few that were presents were beautifully animated.
With this ending, it really pushes the theme of the series. How rebuilding yourself can't be done within a short amount of time. Even in 10 years, Rudeus has so muc h to learn, an I think this series is so special that they were able to make this finale acceptable.
9/10, definitely one of the better isekais out there, one day they'll stop doing split seasons
omfg, this anime is epic
even with people saying they skipped 99% of the novel, i still think the story is awesome lol . .. then we have lots of ecchi jokes, fun characters, action scenes, story telling, action scenes, i don't think i can ask for much more, specially after how disappointed i was at some other anime this season (like gekidol and Hortensia saga)
10/10 first part, waiting for summer :D
favorite "new girls" from summer <3 ... click sig for older seasons and more possible picks (rip all the other choices)
What a fun ride, this series is just right up my alley, Isekai combined with adventure and a child prodigy with some nice character developments. Too bad we didn't get too see monster fighting scenes, but 2nd season is confirmed so that's an exciting news.
My overall rating is 7 just because this is my first isekai Anime... Roxy's voice artist gave her best, and the pacing was good but only in few episodes, there was a lack of accumulation with some Characters.. I don't want to discuss about those cheap sex jokes by the 34 year old man...... Story was predictable at some places, but show was entertaining. The Character of Ruijard has a curious history
So this is the revolutionary isekai? LOL What is revolutionary here? Hehe~
It was enjoyable just up until the end of episode 3.
People who loved it, loved cause they are SM who love to see little girls getting spanked by a big dude till her face is all messed up (episode 5). Nice! As always people blindly loving this violence and gory shocking moments out of the blue.
Of course, can´t deny the art and animation are very good.
Just stumbled into this and finished it quickly. It's horny... a little too horny but on the whole it just works. It feels wholesome. The world feels generic but interesting enough. The animation is great. It's pure isekai but good enough. I feel as the show gets less letchy and focuses on 'stuff' and better it gets. If the second part builds on the first, this first part will look even better.
This shit was and is so good, I can't believe i've never heard of this before. We just had 2 action scenes in the whole season but they were 10 times better than any other isekai I've ever watched.
They thank us but I feel like thanking them instead.
I like the start of the dead end party. Things got more interesting after Rudy got thanos snapped. Overall I’m impressed with this show especially since those first couple of episodes were so boring
Meh this anime started out great but up until they introduced Eris it all kinda went down hill for me. granted her character did get less annoying but then I was kinda so-so and the superb's tragic backstory it just kinda seems like the same story for alotta recent animes of "dont judge a book by its cover" which hile its a good lesson its just is beeeeeyond overused the whole theming of "odnt be racist toward anyone be they demon, elf, etc. I feel like this started off being super relatable and interesting and it just devolved into a more generic issekai.
6/10
I loved this anime so much that I immediately started reading the novel after finishing watching the first season.
People who wrote those dumb reviews giving it a low rating have terrible taste. I mean, just look at how beautiful are the buildings and the characters' clothes. Just the visuals of the anime make a low rating objectively wrong. And the story is basically just as exciting as the one of Re:Zero.
