I do not care if they had production issues.

For starters, how is the production of this anime so poorly managed that they have issues so grand that they have to make an episode filler? It’s not like there was a huge disaster that affected the production, they just couldn’t manage on the schedule that they created.

Furthermore, what frustrates me the most about this is that this was not a special like The Promissed Neverland’s 5.5 episode, but it REPLACED an actual episode of the anime. Does this mean that content will get cut or will the pace be sped up? Will they extend they release the actual final episode as an OVA? This episode greatly affects the series as a whole.

To clarify, I know that the people working on this series are doing their best to make this anime great. But that does not excuse the incompetence of the production manager that could not keep the production on schedule, or even worse, could not even come up with a competent production schedule.

I get what you say but you have to keep in mind that they are doing 3 anime this season and they just don't want the real episode to be bad or anything so they did this recap. I still think this episode is pretty useful for some people bc I know some that didn't get some stuff in the show.

I understand that you have a more forgiving outlook on this episode and the reasons behind it. I guess I hold studios and their creators to higher standards. If you take on 3 anime in a season then you have to be prepared to produce 3 anime in a season. That may be on the higher-ups at CloverWorks for taking on too many seasons and/or on the supervisor for the show’s production, but either way there is inexcusable blame to go around.

Also, I agree with you that this episode was probably good for people that didn’t know entirely what was going on, but I don’t think that is a good thing. It might be if it was a special or something like that, not as an actual episode in the anime. What is the point of having interpretive elements in a show if you are just going to explain it all in the middle of the series? If you make a complex anime, then the audience is going to have to put some thought into interpretating it.

If you break it down for them then that lowers their investment into the series because they don’t have to look closely at the characters, their actions, and the world.

this isn't a "must watch" episode as it IS just a recap but i feel like it was put together pretty well. it's definitely good to watch if you're confused about some things , or if you forget things easily :D

it probably would have been better to have the recap after we find out more about rika and momoe , but it might be a bit weird to have a recap that close to the end of the season depending on which episodes that would be shown in.

if you have a spare 20 minutes then i'd say to give it a watch , 'cause we DO get some nice commentary from acca and ura-acca.

Who at clover works though having 3 episodes in 1 season was a good idea? TPN was always a mid series now horimiya and WEP get fucked over because of it.

While watching the recap I was trying to find a blog I found at the weekend that explained the production process for WEP and why the schedule has become unstuck. Basically each episode is directed by a different person and a small support team ties it all together, and that they'd run out of resource due to other commitments.

I found a post referencing "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide_(Durkheim_book)" as a possible basis of the series.

Bingo Found it again - I'll stick it in a spoiler tag as it deconstructs episodes 1-7...

Also Any streaming services planning on doing an English dub of this? I'm fine with Subs but my wife and another of my Anime nerd friends are "dubs only people".

Honestly, I just hate recap episodes. Like, it’s a simple enough plot and there’s only 7 episodes. If you can’t remember what’s happened you clearly don’t watch tv shows.

I don't like recaps. I didn't like it in Hunter x Hunter and I don't like it here. The only interesting thing was at the end whenever Acca asked why I didn't trust them. Idk bitch maybe because you give off a drug dealer and also pedo vibes.
This is easily the best show this season for me and I await next episodes because the story is just phenomenal, this one was just meh. I wish they made 11 episodes and cut that one out.

Unless you're confused about the story, there's absolutely no need to watch this episode. It's just a recap with Acca and Ura-Acca (egg world dolls) narrating what we already know.

That being said, watching it never felt like a chore or waste of time.

After reading through the comments and the situation behind the studio behind this show, I gotta say you have to be really unemphatic or dumb to drop it just because of this episode. Anime is not free, someone's gotta make it and, unfortunately, not under the best of conditions nowadays. Be thankful for what we got so far, it's probably a far better option than rushing an episode so that people will later complain about the quality instead.

True. As a recap this is a decent one. Its not because of the recapping story, but mostly because i just too attached to the four girls already. So i just decided to point this as a decent recap. Still, its kinda suck knowing that there must be a trouble going on with the studio when producing the next episode. Its really sad, tho, there's nothing much i can do rather just waiting more to the next week to see whats goin on behind a certain story, especially with Ohto Ai.

Wonder Egg Priority seemed to slowly loosen down its priority to a certain popular series, one episode sacrificed to strengthened their saggy schedules strict program. The original concept somehow loosen the spirit of the makers too. Still, let my blabbing just evaporates in the air through the concept of a silent majority.

Thats it all from me.

12 episode shows have no business including a recap episode mid season. I get that this is probably due to studio production issues, but I sincerely hope this isn’t counted towards the episode count of 12 we were told. I’d probably not have thought twice about it if the episode was labeled 7.5, but as of right now it is not, on any site I’ve seen. Very disappointing, and hope it’s not an indication of the quality we can expect of the conclusion. Atleast it’s not the worst recap I’ve seen, I guess.

I loved this recap lots. Last week's episode was a heavy one and the last 4 episodes might focus on one girl each so I'm a fan of that plan.

The actual recap was the type of recap that I like. It didn't just clump together a bunch of scenes but instead, they took the time to add commentary which I loved. Info dumping + character review was nice too and I'm very happy with how this week turned out.

I can't wait for next week.

As of this posting, I've seen a hell lot of nasty comments here about dropping this series since this episode was a recap, y'all have no shit-ass right to call yourselves "anime fans", and are just the same as any insanely popular but toxic fandom community out there.

Just as our good ol' bud @deg had re-iterated, the extensive source is this:
https://blog.sakugabooru.com/2021/02/27/wonder-egg-priority-production-notes-04-07/

And also props to those who pointed out that it was an unplanned recap with production issues. Clarifications must be needed here.

Remember, CloverWorks is handling 3 shows this season. and it wouldn't be a surprise that Promised Neverland already had a .5 episode recap, and WEP was (eventually) made out to be the same.

Rather than @ me to call out my bluff, re-watch this recap again to find out what you've missed in the last 7 episodes and piece this intricate masterpiece of a work altogether for now. Be thankful for what we got so far.

production issues is usually the go to for recaps and this show has been doing some black magic with its visual quality it's kept up this whole time only worried if we'll have enough time to finish it properly with it now being 11? episodes D:

Ouch, it was a recap episode. I had doubts if I really want to watch this episode, since I have Tensura 2 to watch too. But I did continue, and it was alright for a recap episode.

Of course, not many people like recap episodes, especially if people already knew the point of the series, like me. But eh I'm gonna take it. Although this really pushes the worries of the anime's production in consideration, since it has been 7 episodes of solid bangers and quality episodes. Also F for this episode's MAL rating, the number of people scoring this episode below 4 is A LOT. Well...this was a waste of time.

To be 100% honest, this recap episode wasn't even that bad. While it was definitely not needed during a 12 episode seasonal, the producers did put some thought into how they structured it. It was actually pretty engaging, and it helped clarify and refresh the past information we were given.

Hopefully next episode is a banger.

Lol, surprise recap out of nowhere. Guess having three shows at once is affecting CloverWorks' schedule after all. So unfortunate.

Well, all things considered, I think it was indeed a pretty decent recap episode. Hope it helped those people who needed a little reminder about all the things that have happened so far. As for me, I had the chance to pay more attention to the show's OST and man does it have some pretty good tracks.

But my god, all the people whining for a recap... it's like watching kids throwing tantrums on the floor. Seriously these spoiled brats...

Who does recap episodes in this day and age? What purpose do they serve? If people are watching episodes every week, they probably don't need it (a week is not that long of a time span). If people are binging the series after it finished, the recap episode is even more useless. Just, who are recap episodes for?

Even Kana-chan (Aikawa Kanata) doesn't know that the 8th episode will be recap (I have checked in MusicRay'n Generation 3 staff official Twitter), hmm, maybe it's really the production issues around that (or maybe she forgot, hmm she also have long-term more ambitious Idoly Pride this year, not only just this season, so yeah, it's kinda mysterious, but I don't need to overthink that) ...

IMO, it's alright, even necessary for having a 30-minutes summary recap for "digest the whole story plot in its entirety in this Wonder Egg Priority ". Yes, you know, from episode 1 to 7, we are almost completely confused by "what really happened in Wonder Egg Priority?". This is actually natural, because anime is actually a medium for "telling a story", and not all can have the ability to elaborate on what is shown well (compare to other animes who have more light and straightforward story, a story with a completely clear plot of the opening, conflict, resolution, and ending). Nah, they answered that with easier narrative in the episode 8.

It was planned, or not planned beforehand, I quite agree with this, and I think since the first episode, we should have a thing like this. CloverWorks (and Aniplex, of course, Sony Music Japan) just does the best for the fans (thanks GOD, my opinions about 'Anemoneria' songs have been heard. I know, they can't possibly forget their main interest in this season, and I still believe that according to what they uploaded in Sony Music Japan YouTube channel).

(the anime next door where Kana-chan also voices, as an idol (ekhm, she is also Narumiya Suzu in Idoly Pride), with a drama that has yet to end but having the depth of the story and the many "mysteries" in the plot, also make a 30-minutes recap summary digest video to support the audience so they can enjoy the second half of the anime, because of the mysteries of the story will be opened one by one in the second half).

AHH, I don't want talk about Horimiya, I have watched this too, and I think they will not get the thing like this (the story is already light and still getting light). Also, there are many parties who work on the Horimiya anime production committee besides of CloverWorks, Aniplex, and Sony Music Japan (after this season there will be Horimiya's live action dorama, one that fans are also waiting for).

Pardon me, there seems to be a classic misconception within fans regarding "anime production time". I myself don't believe that the anime was done suddenly, even if there is a problem about technical, I think it's all about post-production affairs. This project has been announced since October 2020, and the trailer has been launched in December 2020, how could this anime be an anime that was done suddenly using labor employed for 20 hours a day, all of a sudden? Moreover, they are already going to sell Bluray/DVD right?

Does anyone know if this for sure counts as one of the twelve episodes? Are they maybe taking a break between episodes to finish/polish animation? Overall, it was still somewhat entertaining, obviously I wasn't hoping for a recap episode though. It would kind of suck if this was one of the twelve episodes, since the anime is so short I think having an entire episode dedicated to recaps is a bit silly.

Yes, it's officially 8th episode. It's already announced in official website and official Twitter account.
What's wrong? This also has to do with the matter of broadcasting Wonder Egg Priority on Japanese local TV (Nippon Television and partners, they are actually part of a producing company anyway).

FUN FACT: In Japan, Wonder Egg Priority actually airs around 1 am JST on broadcast TV stations. Furthermore, WEP was released for the first time on the Hulu Japan service (still a group with NTV), about 1 to 1 and a half hour earlier than at partner TV stations. So, technically this anime isn't designed to be on TV either, actually.

(The scheme looks like Idoly Pride, maybe this is the future plan of Sony Music Japan).

Ah, I see, thank you for the quick reply. After reading more of this forum I understand the situation a little bit better, and I understand that CloverWorks is stretched pretty thin this season. I was just worried that having a recap in such a short series would be bad for the series, but honestly it hasn't really hurt my interest in WEP.
