| An important point to consider with this is also the cost of life in Japan. It's crazy expansive and should be a lot harder with such a salary. It's not a 3rd world country were you can easily get by on such a salary. Pretty sure these animation studios are not in some rural village but in the bigger cities so I doubt that these salaries (especially the lower ones) even cover the rent for some miserable room. |

From what I saw, they are a freelancer, so the payment is usually delayed and the amount of money they receive each month is not fixed. There are no bonuses either (in Japan, annual bonuses can reach around six months worth of salary). They also mention taking long breaks. Nevertheless, that still feels way lower than it should be. |

| I don't have deep knowledge of the economy in Japan but that just looks dirt cheap. Their monthly pay is almost three times lower than the minimal wage of where I live. It's just disappointing coming from a developped country. Also, I feel like most companies take advantage of animators. Oh, it's your passion ? Then I guess, you don't care much about the money, uh ? And if you don't like the pay, there will always be someone more naive to replace you. |
