Whenever someone hates Black clover they just say it's a rip off of Naruto and I have read Naruto only upto the chunin exam arc and I haven't started watching/reading black clover as of yet.So for those who have watched/read both Naruto and have caught up to the latest arc of Black clover how much of a rip off is Black clover of Naruto exactly?

i have watched all naurto and currently watching black and have caught up with the manga also. I don't think they are similar from character to the general vibe of the show. In black clover i never a dark vibe its more of a wholesome show but naruto had some good antagonist and successful gave me a villain vibe. I don't like comparing show but both being shounen they will have some similarities.

But then again, even Jujutsu Kaisen has a lot of similarities from Bleach but still it has a rating more than Bleach.

my guess is most new anime fans haven't watched bleach maybe binge 300 episodes is a pain so for them it's an entirely new experience. I personally am not big fan of JK but i still watch it but its still no where close to bleach fights obviously it's a new show so too early to judge

I'm up to date with BC and have seen all of Naruto.

You could make quite a few comparisons between both shows, given that they are both SJ titles.

But given what I've seen from both series, I wouldn't say that BC is a rip-off of Naruto, it's more like it's become the modern day Naruto (if you get what I'm saying).

i have watched all of naruto and am caught up with Black clover (anime only). They are two different shows but of course like any other anime you can always compare them. Both being set in a "fantasy" world where people use "magic" and where both MC's have the dream of becoming hokage its the perfect recipe for the classic "x is a rip off of y". Those are basically the only similarities between both shows and the pokemon evolutions too but it wouldnt be a shounen otherwise.
I wouldnt say BC is a rip off of Naruto but more like it takes some inspiration from naruto

I'm up to date with BC and finished Naruto and find most the similarities that tend to be levied against clover to really just be surface level ones and nothing more. It's in the same vein as those who used to call bleach a yuu yuu hakusho ripoff.

I've watched all of Naruto (and even up to date with Boruto if that matters) and I'm up to date with Black Clover and there's about as much similarities as when comparing any two shounen series.

Of course you can find some similarities VERY GENERAL, NOT REALLY SPOILING SPOILERS AHEAD I GUESS??? IDK like wanting to become the Hokage vs. wanting to become the Wizard King, but I wouldn't say they are too similar or that BC was a copy of Naruto. They take such different directions with things.

Black Clover is trash without even a single hint of originality.

Naruto may have been a rip off of Dragon Ball, but at least it set out to deliver something inspired.

Black Clover is just Naruto carelessly thrown into a food processor.

Recency bias, JJK doesn't touch how iconic Bleach is. MAL ratings are bleh, if there were more older shounen fans on this site, JJK would never overtake YYH like it has.

black clover is a little like naruto but just wizards... and stuff.
not just naruto, its basically every shonen combined to be honest.
I don't hate it, but a lot of it really is just different cliches and ideas but set in the variant of its own world.

but yes i unironically am in love with Noelle.

It doesn't even have a hint of originality?
Then the chances:
1. For a single moment of originality seems too far.
2. For a single original scene are looking impossible.
3. For a single original episode have to be a dream.
4. and a thought of one original arc cannot be imagined.
DAMN! It's not a rip-off, it's actually Naruto!!!

Very good that you take inspiration from your enjoyment medium. You are an inspirational to us fellow MAL users as well. I hope that I will try to see my entertainment medium as an inspiration as much I can.

Oh I see, it's a carelessly made show.

Black clover and Naruto are not a rip off
By rip off most of them mean - Naruto are the base/best example for most of the shonen tropes. By saying black clover is a ripoff of naruto them mean black clover is using shonen tropes. That it. There is no particular real similarity. If there was kishimoto would have sued Yūki Tabata in court.

Most prominent similarity in the series -
1)Naruto and Asta (protagonist) both are underdogs, orphan and sometimes annoying or childish to many people because of their ideals
2) both also have rivals who are in main cast ( I find rivalry shown in both series are different styles)
3) Both protagonist goal is to be the top position (hokage in naruto and Magic emperor in black clover)
3) Both series have wide varity cast at focus
4) Both has a villan group ( though the every thing about the villan group is different)
5) Both have magical technique - Magic in Black clover and jutsu in Naruto

Even most of their similarities are actually surrounding the protagonist. The story itself is very different

I have only watched 60 episodes of Black Clover, so Im not the best person to talk about it... but the anime is more of a copy of Fairy Tail than Naruto

There is barely any progress in the story, and its very childish. But it does have some interesting characters which makes it a bit easier to watch (exactly like Fiary Tail)... Naruto on the other hand is much darker, and has some good arcs

There are definitely some similarities between Naruto and Black Clover. Both main characters strive to be the leaders of their countries; they both grew up with the odds stacked against them; and both have lively personalities. Both I don't think the stories and the characters are 100% similar to Naruto. Even though Naruto was noisy at times, I don't think he's as loud as Asta is. Also, Asta's relationship with Yuno is completely different from Naruto and Sasuke's relationship. Asta and Yuno have a healthy rivalry where they both support each other in their journey to becoming the Wizard King. Whereas Naruto and Sasuke grew apart and became enemies at a point when Sasuke saw that Naruto was getting stronger than him. I also feel that the personalities of some of the characters in Black Clover can be a bit exaggerated at times. The personalities of the cast of Naruto had a balance between being cartoonish and realistic. But despite the differences between the shows that I mentioned above, I love Black Clover. I always like animes where the main character tries to overcome the obstacles they're presented with. Also, I feel that one of the things that makes Black Clover stand apart from Naruto is its exploration of dark elements, such as demons, tragedies, etc.

Ok I will be honest,

When I first started watching Black Clover I really thought it was a Naruto rip off but now that the story has progressed both in anime and manga it has started to look like its own unique shonen. I have high hopes for Black Clover and I hope it lives on my expectations.

I would say that Black Clover is more of a rip off of Fairy Tail, generally speaking from the settings, characters, the exaggeration, and the overall vibes.

After watching Naruto and those other big name battle shounen anime, I think that all battle shounen are the same at this point. Their purpose in the anime industry is to sell out basic writing and cash in on the nostalgia.

I have watched both. To put it in a few words, BC takes all the good aspects of various battle shonen (like Fairy Tail, One Piece, Berserk, Bleach, etc.), not just Naruto.

Here is a post of somebody that summarized all the influences of BC: https://qr.ae/pNmqWG

Yeah. The Naruto fans fear that Black clover will be big as Naruto so they are hating with an invalid reason. We also can't say it's a rip off lmao because Black clover is about wizards and Naruto is about Ninjas.People need to learn the difference between Rip off and inspired.

true but not just black clover. Everytime a new shounen pops up a retarded naruto fan will call it a "rip-off". As much as I like be naruto as a kid, me and my friends even copy their hand signatures, I can't stand the fandom right now. When jujutsu blow up they also called it a naruto rip-off and gojo is a rip off kakashi.

But to quote your question, it's not a rip-off and for me, this is just my opinion, black clover has the best world building, setup, and cast on the modern shounen era. The buildup can lead into a massive arc. It may take inspiration from the original big 3 but it can take it to another level and done it right. It also has a good set of cast that have different traits that can leave a unique impression. Also black clover focuses more on it's supporting characters, for me I didn't like Asta at first cause they were focusing more on different characters but he really grew on me as the series progress. Also this may not be related but the thing that pulled me in this series is the medieval setting with norse and greek mythology elements

Yeah. Also they don't know that Naruto is also influenced by many tropes of Hunter x Hunter.
