What's the biggest anime example in your eyes of:

A. A series with a weak or comparatively underwhelming first season that gradually improved the longer it went on and more seasons it got?

B. A series with an great/amazing first season that kept falling apart the longer it went on?

A. Baki. No more shit CG and it actually feels like there's a protagonist this time around.
B. Gundam Seed and destiny. It seems like they didn't know what to do with the character of Shinn so they ended up remaking the first season/series but worse.

The main Grisaia series had a notable massive increase in quality when it comes to its anime.

Fruit of Grisaia wasn't bad but it was too rushed and some scenarios genuinely felt comical at times due to how badly adapted it seemed, but the Labryinth OVA and the Eden of Grisaia were genuinely excellent. Especially the whole Yuuji past storyline that got dedicated quite a lot of time, and seeing him go through what he did to become the guy he was in the present. It went from a disappointing, rushed mediocre anime to a really damn good one by the end.

A: Attack On Titan- Although it had a lot of hype and was still a good series. The other seasons just keep getting better and better and I can't wait for the final season.
B: Fairy Tail - I was a massive fan of the first season, second season was still really good but didn't quite live upto the first. However, the final season really wasn't great. I still enjoyed seeing the characters go through the story however if I wasn't engaged in the characters from the pervious seasons I probably would have dropped it.

1) Haikyuu!! Kept getting better and better leading up to the amazing 3rd season (4th was also amazing and the new season will rock for sure)

2) Boku No Hero Academia is just sad, they try to keep it interesting but can’t last season was super boring

Major overall quality increase for me was Symphogear. S1 went rather extremely rocky in the production and story department as it was trying to find its sense of identity. With a new director and a change in staff, Symphogear looked and sounded visually impressive starting from s2 and kept up to that level, reaching a peak by its final season. The thematic showcasing and narrative direction also drastically improved as well as its sense of self awareness.

Major overall quality decrease would be Gintama. First four seasons were some amazing stuff, but afterwards, the series’ direction and comedy just didn’t feel right at all. It lost a good part of its charm with most of its characters and the comedy didn’t click as effectively as it previously did. Perhaps it’s because it started to take its overarching plot a bit too seriously. Just my opinion, though.

I think we can all agree the top 2 violators, would be 7 Deadly Sins and OPM, J.C. Staff fucked OPM up.

I want to watch those someday but the Visual Novel dating crap of the first season is so derivative and boring.
Shoot first, think never.

A. I think One piece fits this description as it started of really slow and gradually got as the story progresses imo.

B. Bleach had an amazing first 60 episodes and then it experienced a dramatic decrease in terms of plot and story progression.

Agree with you on both of these. Super excited for the new Haikyuu season.
I rewatched BNHA recently and season 4 was definitely my least favourite season. I don’t read the manga so I don’t know how hype the next arc will be but I’m hoping it will be pretty good.

Date A Live Season 3. The reason why is that the studio that made the first season and the studio that made the second season are now defunct. J.C. Staff took on the project at a time when they were working on way too many projects. This resulted in all the shows they were working on then to have a poor quality. It is very unfortunate that that happened.

A. It will be Re:Zero series. Season 1 for me was memorably okay even though I rate it 10 because of high potential. With Season 2 coming out, it really rises the peak for fulfilling the potential into its promising level. It provides more depth and layer within the plot progression, and the point of this series is lucid although it’s still in a starting point yet. Thus, Arc 4 is a marching point of its development. I read the latest WN chapters, and it continues to be gradually darker and deeper with devoted theme and substance. Of course, there are some prominent development which makes it more charming too.

B. Naruto, it has very intriguing premise at the start, but man, the final arc was anticlimactic due to absurd execution as if the moral and narrative standpoint falls flat because of Naruto’s vapid and underdeveloped ideals. Boruto sequel is the proof for superfluous resolve from Naruto Shippuden’s final arc.

I will try to speak objectively about scores and popularity:

I haven't watched it, but I believe many people never heard of Symphogear before it's last season make a way to top anime ranking in this site (8.5+) when airing.

In the opposite, DRRR!! S1 was a big thing when it was airing, but less and less people talking about it in the following seasons.

Yama no Susume, Tamayura, Kiniro Mosaic, Takagi-san, and Yuru Yuri are some that took a bit of time to get rolling but were well worth it when they did.

Aikatsu (first whole series of 4 seasons was great, but the spinoffs could never reach its quality) and Chuunibyou (movie was good, though) are two stand outs. A lot of the time when I'm warned that a sequel is bad I just won't watch it.

Attack on Titan is one of the shows which nailed it. You know when you read a manga and realize that the anime has not even scratched the surface but not just for some random anticipated shounen 1v1s but the story as a whole..?, that's what is insane.

Clanned was a massive improvement for me especially the 2nd half of Afterstory.

Show's like like Naruto , Bleach, BNHA ( particularly S4) etc degrade a lot even though there are few aspects here and there. Also One piece is just unpleasant specially in the latter episodes and I just can't comprehend how it's fan base considers it as a best shounen. Its mediocre. Its like out of 900 epi I watched , only 150 were somewhat significant and this just reduces the quality of the already average story.

There are many more but these are the Main stream ones who have pretty significant changes.
Subjectivity is a joke on MAL. If you implicitly bring in subjectivity in your counter argument, you've already lost the debate. Also this website is a fankid infestation , have pity on those kids by ignoring there quotes as they have absolutely no clue what exactly is going on.

Though I do not think that The Monogatari Series started weak in any way,I have to admit things got way better once we reached the Monogatari series second season.

My Hero Academia started of decently as a moderately entertaining shounen that was a great time killer. But as the seasons went on it started getting more and more repetitive with its story structure and I finally lost interest in it after the 4th season bored me to death.

this doesn't fit exactly but

hayate the combat butler ended up getting new animations, story, tone and new voice actors(dub) which made cuties and can't take my eyes off you, a whole new anime for me. I just had to drop it because it was to different.

princess resurrection also changes the mood and artstyle with their new OVA which is a hit or miss depending on if you like the manga or not.

in general I don't really notice the animation as much or care about it unless it is really bad

A. Mob psycho 100 started out as weak but it got so much better in the second season.
B.i have to go with seven deadly sins. It's season 2 was so great but in season 3 I haven't even watched it I just watched a few seconds clip of Meliodas vs Escanor and after watching it my first impression was nope I'm not gonna watch that shit.

I was fine with opm s2 to be honest. At least it wasn't bad as seven deadly sins right?
