Some time after I started watching anime, there was this new animeme arising, many of you might've heard about it, it's the "You are already dead/Omae wa mou shinderu" meme, so after I looked into it I found out the original clip, remember that guy saying "Nani!!" in my native language it means a completely different thing, so I was like "I gotta find out what this means", after my research I found out that "Omae wa mou shinderu" means "You are already dead" and "Nani" means "What". From that day forward, I never forgot what Nani means, now it only feels natural whenever I hear nani, I already know that it means what.

Through my years of watching anime, I have learned several words like these to the point that sometimes I don't even have to look at the subs. I have learned over a thousand words probably (Just an assumption, could be higher could be lower), words like Dakara, Boku, Kimi, Omae, Anata, Aishiteru, Kotowaru, and many many many more words.

So, what are some words that you learned by watching anime?

I've picked up a lot of words but my favorite is 火山 (kazan) meaning volcano because it sounds like the greek (and general balkan) word for cauldron and it kinda fits semantically.

I also know that Yankee characters often have a specific speech pattern where the angrily roll their R's

And that a Yankee is a bad boy

i liked how you mentioned about how certain words are similar to your language yet means something else. as for me, aside from the usual common terms we all pick up from anime, i actually paid a lot more attention to those words that sound exactly the same in my language, and there are actually aplently!

e.g san po in japanese means a stroll/take a walk, in chinese 散歩(san bu) means the same as well!
ji kan (time) sounds like a chinese dialect (xi gang/時間shi jian) and si gan(시간) in korean, they all sound very similar when you pronounce it

many times i just automatically understand certain random words they say, they sound very similar in chinese & korean, that was very interesting for me :)

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there

ara ara "From some hentai on youtube and yes it was a milf that said it."
sugoi dekai "From Uzaki-chan wants to hang out."
kamimaschta "From the Monogatari series."
oppai "Hm probably from Uzaki chan too.
aishteru "From RE:ZERO Season 2."

And there are ofc many other standard Japanese words anime watcher usually know like "oni-chan","Baka" or "nani".

"Sasuga" and "Yappari" stands out to me because I can't really translate those to English or my native language.

"Ganbatte" also something I like using in my language, but notice I don't know how to translate that to English.
