| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Navarone Stronghold Arc STARTS!!! What better way to have the pirate crew start from ground zero with no money, gold or ship? ...Make them land in the middle of the world's strongest Marine Fortress/Prison!! Although landing in the middle of an inlet with all that land to hit is VERY VERY slim, this looks like a pretty decent start back on blue water. I love how ALL of them try to be conspicuous but they really don't hide themselves very well at all. |

| This was a funny episode, way to release a bit of tension after the relatively long Skypiea arc. New ED was nice too, funny bit where Nico Robin's second picture was just her with more books |

| God this episode was funny af XD Best moments had to be Zoro walking into the middle of the lake and nearly being run over by a ship and ofc Luffy doing the peace sign behind the marine dude while Sanji's just like "wtf, man?" From the preview, looks like we'll be getting a hell's kitchen-esque cook off between Jessica and Sanji...tho he might melt when he sees her lol |

| This is impressive and a much needed breath of fresh air after Skypiea. One of my major points of criticism for One Piece has been its portrayal of the navy. This was more so the case early in the series, as now we've gotten Helmeppo and Coby training under a non-1D-evil-obstacle of a navy captain, and we have smoker going against the corrupt nature of the navy. However, in filler or canon in general the navy are the worst characters in One Piece, something that somewhat goes against the theme of not judging a book by its cover(not all pirates are bad, not all navy are good!!)... It's great that we're getting an arc from their perspective, with a captain who is intelligent and is characterized to be a person, not a weak stand in opponent. Super glad One Piece is taking this approach. So, all the Straw Hats escaped separately. Robin has grown on me quite a bit since she was introduced. She has a nice dynamic with most of the Straw Hats, her with Usopp is particularly cute. I was actually concerned that Zoro was going to head straight for the doors to the fortress to kick some butt. I suppose that could still occur... To have a fast paced and somewhat light hearted arc about escaping from the heart of a navy fortress makes me excited to see more. Whoever said this was good filler last episode was right, this already seems better than some of the canonical content! |
| For a fortress so impenetrable, it's a pleasant surprise for the Straw Hats to find out that most of the Marines in there are quite incompetent. It's very amusing to see them infiltrate the base, that's for sure. I hope that they'll get the treasure back by the time they get out of there. That Commander of theirs is sharper than he looks. |

| This is definitely one of the better filler arcs. I was going to skip it, but I think it'll be worth revisiting after all. From one major detour to another, I love being able to take quality breathers on this grand adventure. |

| Aside from the movies, I skipped the fillers so far in the story, but I heard that the G8 is very goodl. honestly, after Skypeia being a heavy arc it's nice to have a little break of silliness! |

| Interesting new arc starting. Good to see the marines again. The new commander seems really smart and a good guy. Interested to see how this goes. Especially since they are all split up. |
| Looks I had a good feeling about this arc because man this was pretty funny for an episode as a whole and that scene I saw when I was a teenager that I mentioned previously? It was in this episode! It was funny then and it’s funny still. Just Luffy sneaking behind a marine officer was just priceless and Sanji just reacting to the situation with his usual snarkiness this time delivered by Eric Vale in the dub. XD I’m really liking the dynamics here. Usopp is getting paired up with Nico Robin which should be interesting. Considering I’ve been a long and drama heavy arc like Skypiea I think G8 will be exactly I need for the next couple of episodes of One Piece. A nice refresher from the main story personally. Plus the Commander for the Marines here seems pretty intelligent from what I’ve seen so yeah this filler arc has promise I think. Once again very funny episode here, very funny episode. |
