The worst thing wasn't the awful animation or CGI, the plastic-y character designs, ever-present eyebrow twitching, or the atrocious writing. It was the grating auto-tuned Alvin and the Chipmunk voices from the entire cast. What made it worse was that it was in English because I could only find it dubbed. The synopsis sounds like there'd be an interesting story but aside from some fight scenes it was immensely boring. Part of the boring also stems from the length. While it does need its length to tell what it wants to, perhaps would've been more tolerable to watch if it were split into OVA episodes instead. With the English dub being the only available option I won't bother criticize the acting and script as it'd be unfair towards the original. |
