I wonder how Subaru will weasel out of this now when there is no convenient Reinhard kicking Elsa's ass lol.

It's not often we see Emilia get mind raped, hopefully we will see some glimpses from her trial too. I don't think she is experiencing what happened in Frozen Bonds but most likely

Yeah I expected as much. We haven't had a real return from death sequence in a while so I figured he would die at the end there.

Roswaal intrigues me. I wonder how much he really knows.

A lot of information was given in this episode. It's hard to see how everything will fit together, but one thing is for sure - this arc is full of conflict.

dont worry about it, dude s a troll every episode he does a comment with the same formula adds ´´meh or boring´´ episode then gives it 3/5
I doubt he even watches the show. He probably just puts it on his list and gives it a low rating just for the sake of hating. Notice how he doesn't even give explanation as to why it's "meh" or "boring"? He just writes the same shit every episode.

First my complaint lol:

"…even farther from being being set free now. "

It should say "further". "Farther" is for physical distance. They're obviously not talking about a physical distance.

Overall a slow episode but ended fantastic....

Contrary to what most people believe, I like the build up to this episode, probably more than the execution later. Everything happen so natural.

Now the Re:Zero real plot finally got back to its rails.

In fact it was already taking too long for his first death (by murdering) in this arc.

Well, now the question is: where will be the savingpoint!?

(Not a Novel discussion, please)

- all the way back to the capital at Crusch mansion?

- At beako library in the mansion? (maybe this was foreshadowed by Rosswall now).

- Just after the teleport, when he met Echidna for the 1st time?

- Or near, after the first trial, when he was going to inquire Trollswal?

- Or just before went back to the Mansion, in the cart with Garfield?

My inocent guess (please don't spoil it): the last one.

Then he will cancel the trip and move back to finish the trials, the only way he could freed Emilia and Garfiel to they help him in face that enemy.

Another hint for that is because the RbD "system" respect his "Achievements". And finish the 1st trial was a successful conquest after all.

Can someone explain why the crystal the Fredrica gave to Emilia almost exploded?
Shouldn't it grant them the permission to pass without any problem? Or could they pass without it?and Why didn't Subaru qurstion Fredrica intentions at that time?

The crystal didnt explode it just teleported Subaru to the Graveyard location the moment they passed the entrance zone.
There was no way to ask Fredrica cause how would they. They only managed to go back because they had a long discussion with Garfield that was skipped in this episode so they could bring the villagers back to their homes.

I think he means why Subaru didnt doubt Frederica intention the moment that crystal glowing and look dangerous. He only doubt Frederica after he talk with Ram.

Another typical Re:Zero episode in terms of the highs and lows; there will be a great scene but of course, I still have quite a few minor gripes with this episode. I always felt like Subaru and Emilia really never got to develop their relationship that much. Like, I think Rem and Subaru have way more of a stronger character dynamic to them, and it's a little hard to relate when Subaru is screaming about his undying love for Emilia. I really loved the introduction of the new elf-girl though, she looks really cool and fascinating. I also really appreciated the scene where we see Emilia teetering on the edge of a mind-break; a rare moment of vulnerability that we never get to see from her. Takahashi did a great job with her performances in this episode.

I almost orgasmed in ecstasy at the sight of seeing Subaru mercilessly killed. God, I love it when he dies. It fills me with joy--sends waves of euphoria through my body. More, please!

I was just praising this new season for the fact it went a long time without a really excessive death scene, but I guess now we are back to square one. Not complaining, as I said before, I live to see Subaru get sliced up and scream in agony.

Oh, 3.5/5 btw

This episode showed us that Subaru had it easy to confront his past because he already knew that he couldn't see his parents again, in contrast Emilia's mind is fucked up

I read the WN so I'm enjoying a lot the diferences between the show and my memories hope they keep the great quality

I will say that the fact that Roswaal had such a long-winded and almost comically grim plan to try and boost Emilia's morale is something I'm debating on criticizing or accepting. Part of me theorizes that this was just extra seasoning by the author to make the story darker and even more fucked up, and another part wonders if Roswaal really believes human lives are just that disposable. Either way, it was funny. Of all the methods he had in mind to erase Emilia's bad name, he chose the one with the most causalities and uncertainty.

I hope Subaru becomes more notable for something else other than how much he wants to bang Emilia and his freakishly low self-esteem. The plot kept me intrigued though, and it finally fed me with delicious gore.

That mansion scene triggered all of my ptsd flags from season 1 and I was not disappointed. But why is the Bowel Hunter back?! Time for Subaru to find out or die trying! (rip)

It does bother me though how seamlessly Echidna keeps locking away Subaru's memories. So they only come back when he's in that dream world with her?

Man such a good episode! Best part was Echidna in a school uniform lol.
(and the OP makes it's return)

I haven't the faintest clue as to how Subaru will deal with Elsa, and Frederica is supposedly planning something which probably isn't good. I wonder what "The question" means and how'll Beatrice reacts to it. Also very eager to know Emilia's past, it seems to really scare her which really interests me (while feeling bad for her.)

Can't wait to see what happens next!

Okay, I loved this episode so much, just as much as the others. I still cannot truly believe that Roswaal doesn't have even an inkling of Subaru's ability. There's no way a sane and reasonable person would truly place their bets on Subaru when Subaru at a time didn't even believe in his own ability. I think Roswaal definitely has to know something about Subaru, otherwise, everything he told him about "believing in him to defeat the most notorious witch cult" was all bullshit.

Also, I'm not sure if I'm digging too much into this, but when Subaru mentioned Rem's name to Ram, didn't it seem like she reacted even just a little to it by the way her eyes look?

I must say the way everything was put in place this episode felt much more organic than the previous few; the dialogues were more natural, the music didn't feel out of place or too pushy. This episode truly felt dark I loved the atmosphere thanks to the great soundtrack and voice acting.

I really liked the way Roswaal was presented. Truly showned how dangerous he can be. However, on the other hand, I'm not sure if I'd have preferred him to be shown a bit less evil - since he's not.
I can't wait until anime onlies know about Roswaal's entire plan.

I don't remember Frederica to be portrayed as suspicious while I was reader the WN. Is this a change of the LN?

I'm not sure why everyone thinks Elsa was dead since she clearly was able to escape after Reinhard's attack back in season 1.

Rewatched the episode, noticed a couple of things, mainly about Roswall.

(theory)

Other than that, I like Ryuzu's voice. She seems like she would be a Witch, but that can't be, since we know all of the Witches. So she looks more like what Beatrice is, minus the fact that one is a spirit and one is a half-elf. There must be something significant about the fact that she is hiding her mouth. She probably doesn't have spiky teeth, so then why? And how old is she really?

Don't know what's up with the contract, and I don't know why and how Echidna is administering the trials to break the barrier around the Sanctuary, when she herself is being held in Sanctuary. I thought someone else was in charge of the barrier for that reason. And why does it have to be a half blood? Why couldn't a half-beast and another half-elf try? Did it have to be a half-elf with silver hair because they are somehow related to Echinoda?

All the doors in the mansion were open. Interesting. Was Elsa going through them one by one to find someone in particular? Or was Frederica trying to stop Subaru from gaining access to Beatrice by keeping all of the doors open, trapping the Forbidden Library in the other dimension?

I never understood why people criticized this when clearly season one was just the start of the story.

Anyway amazing episode, the mystery elements just get better and better. The set up is being handled so well with white fox keeping all the crucial details in the anime. The part at the end was superb too, when I saw the sunset and the credits roll across the screen I could already tell they were going to handle Elsa's return perfectly. Everything from here on is greatness!!

Yeah, I remember gigguk's joke in his rezero video talking about how Elsa never shows up again, and it didn't seem like fair criticism because a long-running series like rezero wouldn't introduce characters that only show up once. They would take every chance in integrating older characters into future arcs, which means Elsa just isn't relevant in the arcs in season 1.

I agree with Subaru, Echidna does look great in that uniform. I did not expect to meet Elsa again at the end. I'm guessing that Frederica, Petra and Rem are hiding in the library and Subaru has to go back early to the mansion to prevent Elsa rampaging again.

I was also. surprised that Roswaal knows about the Witch Cult, it made him look like the mastermind behind the attack. Although his intentions are good, his methods are just mad.

Overall episode: 5/5

Well, I’m like discovering my feelings upon this season, I feel like we got stuck in a problem and the main plot kind of got paused, I feel like the plot was going forward, but Subaru and Emilia got stuck here, and now they must solve this problem to continue, and being honest, the barrier issue came out of nowhere, maybe this arc is gonna be more relevant with time, but that’s how it feels right know. I thought the same as Garfiel, Subaru could pass the tests, but he wants Emilia to earn recognition. So, as Ram thinks, Frederica is planning something, or is just she. Roswaal decision may sound noble, but it looks that he has something in his mind too. Dying again, another level, the same boss.

1. Yes. :)
2. Indeed.
3. No comment. If you want spoilers, I'll send you a message.
4. Well, so far what we've seen is that the stone (most likely) led to at the very least Subaru being transported in the tomb, and might have done who knows what to Emilia had he not taken it himself.
5. What was actually said in the WN at least at this point is that only half-bloods are qualified to challenge the Trials and free the Sanctuary, but no one actually "from there" may do so. This wasn't as clearly stated in the anime. (Subaru can only challenge them because Echidna granted him the qualifications to do so at the end of their first meeting.)

She had actually gone and failed more than two times. It has been only implied really here though: at the very least it was stated that after Subaru's talk with Roswaal another two days have passed, and also Garfiel does say Emilia is traumatized every time, instead of just both times as would be the natural phrasing otherwise.

I'm sure Roswaal has to know more about Subaru than we think. No matter how much he knows that Subaru will white knight for Emilia, that would all be useless if Subaru cannot accomplish anything with those desires. He somehow knew Subaru would be capable of defusing the scheme he created, even though outwardly Subaru does not have any obvious powers. I think Roswaal knows more about Subaru and his abilities, since he uses magic so maybe he can sense something in Subaru.

Yea my thoughts exactly. Considering how pitiful Subaru was during season 1, he was placing quite a bit of faith in him for some very important things. Roswaal totally knows about Subaru, but when will we find out about it? Looking forward to the upcoming episodes and possibly light novels.
