| Age 10 is about the time when I might consider recommending GeGeGe no Kitarou (2018). It aired in Japan on Sunday mornings at 9 am and is generally considered a "kids' show." That said, it looks like no other such show I've watched in terms of the issues it raises. I strongly recommend watching a few episodes to see whether it is something your sister might like. | Some of these suggestions, e.g., Madoka, are not really appropriate for a nine-year-old. Even something like Angelic Layer includes some dicey issues like Misaki's weird relationship with her mother. For some kids with complex family structures this could trigger difficult feelings. Having children as protagonists does not guarantee that the show targets a child audience. |
