I want to recommend some anime to my little sister. So far she’s liked aggretsuko and Ranma 1/2 so anything not that complicated, no ecchi, and no gore thx

Little Witch Academia (TV) is kinda in this type
If she's more into girlish (?) things you can try with simple school idols anime like Love Live
New Game! and Tamako Market are really simply and nice to watch anime too

How about Inuyasha or Sailor Moon? I remember these were popular with girls back in elementary school. Also you probably can't go wrong with any of the popular Ghibli movies.

Almost all studio ghibli movies are good for kids (I wouldn't say princess mononoke though).. Here are some I think would be a good choice:

My Neighbor Totoro
Ponyo
The Secret World of Arrietty
Kiki's Delivery Service
Castle in the Sky
Whisper of The Heart
When Marnie Was There
Spirited Away

(They are all available dubbed making it easy to watch for younger people*)

Other non- Ghibli Movies:

Daisy a Hen into the Wild
Lu Over the Wall
Mary and the Witch's flower
Oblivion Island

Series suitable for kids:

Ronja The Robber's Daughter
Muumin
Heidi
Tokyo Mew Mew - (Or Mew Mew Power is the english version, but only has half the episodes)

Urahara is very underrated in my meaning. And it suitable for kids many anime's have males as mc and they are the heroes .But in this is all about the girls and I think a girl may appreciate other females as lead instead of males

Otherwise the precure series are also very tamed with strong females as mc

Skip Beat!

it's a good inbetweener, though it's usually saved for early to mid teens because of the heart break portion that drives the beginning of the anime. You can watch some of it yourself to get an idea of what I'm talking about. Absolute masterpiece of a rom/com

kinda is the right word since the Imaishi episode has some sexual undertones (well Imaishi is a pervert) in this case yuri undertones like Akko almost kiss Sucy if i remember right

but if the kid is fine watching Naruto and Sasuke kiss then there is no problem

Your safest bets would be Studio Ghibli movies or movies like
Your name
Or
Weathering with you.
Yeah, finding a fitting series is hard if you wanna do it legally.

The follow-up series, Chi's New Address, streams at Crunchyroll.

There's a 3D remake on Amazon Prime which I've never watched. I liked the original 2D series quite a bit and am not a big fan of most 3D shows.

For 10 year olds, it's the perfect time to learn the sort of life lessons that are brought up in Fruits Basket... things like the loneliness of being different, that bullying can have serious complications, that even people who seem perfectly content can be suffering from things you don't know about. It's an anime that I've always wished I watched when I was younger, but I wasn't into subbed anime at the time (original fruits basket is best fruits basket)

Be wary of what young ones watch. Media they consume will affect their perception of the world. As an example, my younger sister was left unattended watching TV. She watched many garbage and/or age inappropriate shows including but not limited to harem trash Hayate the Combat Butler and lots of Kdramas at the age of 7. Grew up consoooooming lots of KPop and APop Ariana with lyrics promoting and normalizing bad behavior. She's already gone through multiple boyfriends and involved in cheating multiple times, just like her very empowering feminist idols.

Little Witch Academia sounds like a great choice!
Studio Ghibli films like Spirited Away are a must
Kaguya-sama: Love is War
Maybe even The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya

Age 10 is about the time when I might consider recommending GeGeGe no Kitarou (2018). It aired in Japan on Sunday mornings at 9 am and is generally considered a "kids' show." That said, it looks like no other such show I've watched in terms of the issues it raises. I strongly recommend watching a few episodes to see whether it is something your sister might like. Watching it together might generate some interesting conversations as well.

Some of these suggestions, e.g., Madoka, are not really appropriate for a nine-year-old.

Even something like Angelic Layer includes some dicey issues like Misaki's weird relationship with her mother. For some kids with complex family structures this could trigger difficult feelings.

Having children as protagonists does not guarantee that the show targets a child audience.
