I feel like people sleep on My Hero Academia's OST, maybe because people find the show to be overhyped to some degree. "You Say Run" definitely is not the only good theme of the soundtrack, in fact, I'd argue that there isn't one bad theme in the entire soundtrack. I'd go out and say that MHA's soundtrack is actually pretty underrated.

the OST i've listened to most is that of Ginga Tetsudou no Yoru, composed by Haruomi Hosono. usually i don't remember the music after i'm finished watching something, but that one just stands out too much for me to forget, i definitely recommend at least checking it out. also, shoutouts to the CCS and FLCL OSTs

- Both Fullmetal Alchemist anime (though I lean more in favor of '03)
- Anything by Taku Iwasaki (Gurren Lagann, JJBA Part 2), Hiroyuki Sawano (Kill la Kill), or Shiro Sagisu (the Berserk movies and 2016-17 anime)
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has gone through 3 composers, but I could never call a single one's work outright bad (the worst it can get is Hayato Matsuo's score for Part 1 being pretty bland and forgettable for the most part)
- My Hero Academia's one consistently good aspect has always been Yuki Hayashi's top-tier music throughout
- The entirety of the Berserk franchise is just non-stop godlike music

I could go on and on, but that's everything I've got for now

Yuru Camp. It shows how powerful a good background score is.

Date a Live. One of Go Sakabe's finest works. Each ost is fascinating to listen to.

Whether or not an anime is good or bad, for me its probably the OST that would leave a mark (arguably up there with its story). There are times wherein I watched an anime because of its OST. I am fond of collecting Anime OSTs and would be glad to find something new from suggestions.

Sharing some of my favorites (most are melancholic, sad or nostalgic) :
1. Code Geass - continued story, if i were a bird, stories, innocent days (watched it for the plot, rewatched because of its OST)
2. Aquarion Evol - gekkou symphonia, Aquaria Mau Sora (reason I watched this because of its OST)
3. Rurouni Kenshin - Kimi wa Dare o Mamotte Iru, Departure, Isshin Tenpuku Keekaku (really hits you hard with that nostalgia, also it feels you are transported to edo era japan)
4. Gundam Seed/Unicorn-NT/IBO - (I usually play Gundam OST when I build gunplas)
5. Bleach - Invasion, Treachery, SoundScape to Ardor (Though there are some OST from Naruto and One Piece that I like (Sadness and Sorrow/Mother Sea), I would say that Bleach OST is better overall among the big 3 from that era imo)
6. FMA - Brothers, Lullaby of Resembool, Trisha's Lullaby

There are too many to mention to be honest. I'm mainly looking for OST as an album btw. Not really looking for OPs and EDs, unless really good.

With this out of the way, Tatsuya Kato, Hiroyuki Sawano, his students Hayashi Yuki and Yokoyama Masaru as well as Kensuke Ushio are the best composers in the industry. The.

Code Geass has a fantastic OST, totally agree with OP.

Made in Abyss has a god-tier OST from Kevin Penkin; he's continued his brilliant work in Tate no Yuusha and Kami no Tou. I believe Kevin Penkin is the composer who sets the highest bar for this era's anime soundtracks.

Kimetsu no Yaiba which I'm currently watching also has fantastic music, even without the spectacle known as episode 19.
