Which anime, in your opinion, has the best interactions between its characters. Friendship, romance, rivalry, family. Which ones stand out the most ti you?
Sword Art Online has amazing and unique romantic interactions. Kirisuna is just♥️ . Kiriyuji and Yuukisuna are amazing BrOTPs.
Zetsuen no Tempest has the best friendship, the one between Mahiro and Yoshino. They're amazing and unique. The romantic department is also very noteworthy.
Fairy Tail has the best wacky mofos in anime history. NaLu and Gruvia are awesome pairings.
And CLANNAD has the best comfy family moments.

What about you, guys?

Jonathan and Dio's rivalry is how everything started and I will always love their interaction even though part 1 wasn't the most entertaining

Non Non Biyori probably, everyone plays off each other so well, and they're great when alone too.

The arguments, dialogues and the next level of teasing, mocking and snark is unparelled by any other anime.

NaLu was cute and all(this a lie, never liked the ship, never will) but the fan service and especially the in the last season where Lucy 'warmed' Natsu, at this point I was done and honestly wanted to shoot myself. It made their entire relationship so retarded to watch.

Another thread another time to shill Rokujouma. A series of full people maturing from the start of being enemy to a full blown family. Those that want to kick each other out to those that cannot live without each other. A love story transcending time and space.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

3-gatsu no Lion has pretty real and wholesome interactions. The best part of Cowboy Bebop is their banter with each other.

Big agree with 3-gatsu no Lion, also bunny girl and SNAFU are great, these are some of the anime I think of first when I think about non-generic characters

Nothing can beat the Monogatari series especially when that series is mainly successful because of its characters' interactions. I'd also include Bunny Girl Senpai but that kinda dropped off after the 2nd arc

Grisaia series I'd also put up there

Immediate answers coming to mind are Yuru Camp and Azumanga Daioh.

The characters may be simple and clearly fit for comedy or polar interactions. And yet they don't feel staged or artificially enhanced for that purpose. In Azumanga Daioh there's a lot of background action, visual jokes, character acting dumb inconsequentially. In Yuru Camp jokes often don't "land", they don't have a punchline, there is not a call for attention on them. They're just respectful observations of group dynamics that happen to be funny and endearing by spontaneity and not by emphasis.

Characters feeling natural together, feeling fine and belonging in their own environment, is for me a major element that defines the quality of character interaction. Particularly if it's going to stick with me after a while. Of course I do appreciate emphasis as well, but the lack of can be refreshing and it can end up creating a meaningful attachment to shows that on the surface seem modest and lacking in stakes. These two shows manage to excel at this in a more consistent way than many others.

They are both pretty great as well in understanding the fundamentals of group dynamics because they understand individuality and how that creates nuances. It's so fucking common that characters end up defined in a rigid way and perform the exact same role towards anybody else, that relationships inside a group are portrayed as simple combinations of their trademark character traits together. In Yuru Camp Rin is an introvert, and yet her interactions with Ena, Nadeshiko, Chiaki and Aoi are very clearly different, like for instance being uncomfortable with Chiaki and endeared at first sight with Nadeshiko despite both being the loud and enthusiastic type. Azumanga Daioh is even better at this, and pretty much a comedic gold standard in this aspect. In a group of 5, later 6 characters, you have distinct interactions for every combination you can make with them, which are apparent even in group conversations.

It's hella relaxing and joyful. It's cute in a down-to-earth and innocent way rather than a *puppy eyes* "oneeeeeee-san" kind of way. I almost never re-watch anything, but I've watched both seasons and the movie 3 times over. It's like being in the nexus from Star Trek Generations.

Haikyuu!! has the rivalry/friendship between Kageyama and Hinata. Which is amazing from Hinata's end and annoying from Kageyama's end.

I could watch Araragi and Senjogahara monologue at each other all day, let alone Monogatari as a whole.

3-Gatsu is boring. Bunny Girl is meh and blergh and SNAFU has my ultimate Ice Queen Yukinoshita. And the last one is a masterclass of character interactions.

Hyouka has Chitanda which is cute, kind and entertaining. The misteries were intriguing. And the animation and directing shots were outworldly. 13/10 to be more precise. And I said it was boring not bad. Also prying into someone else's score to try to make a point is tad bid childish if you ask me.

Red x Green is the best rivalry of all time. Cute, wholesome and baddass.

First one that came to my mind is Little Busters. Such a loveable bunch and a somewhat balanced ratio of male to female which is kinda rare in this sort of anime. Unlike Clannad where each girl basically disappears when her story arc ends, the Little busters cast sticks around and regularly interacts with one another.

The cast of Love Lab has a great dynamic too.

Konosuba second season first came to mind, only because that's why I remember it being far superior to the first season, far better character interactions and a lot funnier.

Durarara is another good choice, plus the RailDex series.

Kumoko, i mean Shiro from So I'm A Spider So What. I wonder if there is S2 to prove that. Her interaction with other characters were wholesome, hilarious and unexpected.

Umineko also has one, Furudo Erika. She isnt there until S2 exist.
