The more episodes I've seen, the more convinced I become that Kumade village is one epic place to live: surrounded by forests, in the mountains, no cell phones, "game trails for road",.. hell yes, sign me up!

Yoshio's probably got the best job ever. He's basically loitering about all day, playing at the shrine with his cousin and a bear, has a bunch of relaxed old geezers as his co-workers, one of which brews his own doburoku. Again, where can I apply? He even has a badass chick on a motorcycle chasing him. The only downside is he tends to get punched a lot, is as dense as a black hole, yet (maybe because of that) scares women by invading their private space too much. Those are just due to his character though, I'd still take his job any day.

She really is a country bumpkin, making a scene in front of that shop just drew more attention to her. Oh well, at least she found an ikemen at the escalator.

I've met a lot of country bumpkins in my life all over the world and none of them were as bad as Machi. I'm with Natsu on this one, how does she expect to go to school in the city when she hardly shop in a mall with a chaperone.

I guess her spazzing out at the mall was supposed to be endearing, honestly, I was just annoyed.

Also, she's suffering from a teething fever? Isn't she in middle school? LOL I've never heard of a teenager suffering from teething fever.

Natsu was SOOOOO adorable as a bear cub. I know he was suffering from a fever/illness but he looked so cute watching chibi Machi prepare some leek porridge for him.

lol @ Yoshio turning around on the escalator and elbowing Machi in the face

Dang I can see how growing up in the countryside could get you a little nervous around big crowds, but dang, Machi gets super over the top embarrassed...

naww seeing both of them take care of each other when they were sick was so sweet!

lol does the very beginning of the ED remind anyone else of Shake It Off? :p

That was really awkward at the mall. Then it escalated so quick it just ended up being a wailfest that was annoying on the ears. And then it was all Natsu's fault in the end??

...I don't get it. It's pretty obvious this is all for comedic effect, but I didn't find myself laughing at all this episode.

I really did like it though. Perhaps it hit too close to home, especially the scene in the shopping center. Machi wouldn't want to enter certain stores in fear of how others would judge her, which is very, very similar to how I felt when I was younger. The moment she snaps had a potent effect on me as well, it felt like I was watching the materialization of the thoughts I would have in those situations. Sometimes, you just want to run away, which in hindsight would only make things worse, evidenced by Machi's embarrassment being heightened when she finds herself scaling up an elevator on reverse. Admittedly, the appeal to this episode was very personal for me, and I appreciate it. It goes further into showing the consequences of her time spent in isolation, or more specifically, in the company of very few people. And a talking bear.

Machi and Natsu's "reconciliation" didn't help either. Machi sees her faults, but then defaults to blaming Natsu for the ordeal as a means to vent out her frustration. There's a term for that phenomenon, I'm sure of it, but I'm too lazy to do the research. What I'm trying to say, I think, is that it's very common for socially "inept" individuals like Machi to realize what's wrong with them, but ultimately fail to come to terms with it as they presume it would make them less of a person, and desperately try find a scapegoat, in efforts of being able to be comfortable in their own skin. I'm finding myself too easily able to project onto Machi's character, with the exception of her constant wailing.

Loving it too deeply, I guess.

Why is there no "Psychological" tag on this show?

Weird pace.

While there were some funny scenes, it felt really unnatural to watch almost 20 minutes of crying.

I don't know, it stopped being a hillbilly's overreaction and started to feel out of place.

Machi is visiting more various places, glad for her getting more experience, she'll be closer to her city dream, I think.. Though, maybe not much, but hey, still visiting different kind of places can be useful..
Yeah, she used escalator, saw different people, many shops.. Girl seeing more of world..
Poor girl.. She really needs to get used to crowded places as well..
But I hope she'll gain experience.. I mean, she already dealt quite well with people, who were rude, drunk, also semi-bullying Hibiki.. I mean, she dealt with quite a lot already.. So I believe in her.. ;p Hope, she'll believe in herself as well..
And Kumai is being self-critical parent now.. Well, I guess, he's old, and he'll be alright?.. Kumai, you did alright as well.. Well, maybe you could have done more in teaching Machi, but really in being the way you are, you taught, how it's usually taught in real life.. And if she'd want to try living in the city, it's good that you were like this, really.. She needs to get used to all kinds of people, being criticized or some other things as well.. If you'll want to teach her more - do that.. But how you were so far - it's alright.. Really, just decide, what you wanna do now with Machi, "dad"..
Aww, wholesome talk between them~ ;p
What Machi did with Kumai during night?.. ;o Come on.. We didn't really needed this, man.. ;p
This anime is getting great.. It's about Machi growing, really.. It doesn't go too well all the time.. But life is like so.. Yeah.. I already am satisfied with anime, it already feels like it was a good watch.. ;P
