I'd like to know what you think is the anime with the strongest start (in the title I said 3 episodes but it could be 1 or 2). A start so good that you couldn't stop watching after that and it fully captured you.

In recent memory, I'd have to say Domestic Girlfriend. After watching the first 3 episodes I had to binge that shit.

Some of the most addictive first episodes are to be found in some of the most popular shows, partly being responsible for their popularity. Death Note, the original FMA, Code Geass, Attack on Titan etc... All of those have first eps that are really good at hooking you and making you want to binge. They introduce some sort of mystery that you want to know more about, while also being exciting and tense to watch and doing a good job at introducing the world and main characters and the kind of intense atmosphere you can expect from them.

Idk about being the 'best' from a critical perspective, but just in terms of catching you hook, line and sinker I always think of these mainstream classics. They got so many people into anime, and to do that you need to hook them immediately. Usually people aren't very patient when they are trying out something new, which is why most anime don't become gateway anime even if they're fantastic. It needs a special kind of anime with a certain type of first episode to become a gateway anime.
I probably regret this post by now.

Kingdom - I'm so hyped after watching even its first episode. It's like I've been watching it for 2 hours, but literally it's just 1 hour. Its first 3 episodes was great, one of the reason I loved this anime so much.
Death Note - Almost everyone knows this anime. You'll always see positive feedbacks regarding this anime. Yeah, its first 3 episodes was strong enough to make you hooked in watching its entire series.
One Punch Man - Yes, the 2nd season was nothing compared to its 1st season. OPM leaves a satisfying feeling everytime he one punched his foe. In my opinion, the first three episodes was good. I just love to see Saitama one-hit ko'd his enemies.
Shingeki no Kyojin - Who could forget how this anime shooked the entire anime community? It's groundbreaking how this anime made its entrance. One of the best survival anime that had one of the strongest early episodes that makes you begging for more. I remember how it always feel like it's a cliffhanger everytime an episode ends and had to wait for a week for the next episode.

Since Kimetsu no Yaiba isn't in my favorite, I would go for demon slayer for sure because of how stunning it's animation. Naruto for a shonen, and to name a recent comedy in memory it was asobi asobase.

The first 4 episodes of Monster which constitute the prologue of the story are pretty damn good and totally hooked me.

1 hour episodes like the GTO and Psycho Pass one are pretty cool too.

One of the most memorable first episode for me is Cross Game, it destroyed me and set up huge expectation for the future episodes. It doesn't get you hyped like the 3 anime titles mentioned below but it emotionally hooked me and the best kind of anime tend to do that.

Code Geass, Attack on Titan, Death Note all had great first episode too.

P.S. Use first episode instead of first 3 because it's kinda arbitrary number.

Speaking only about the first three episodes, I guess no other than Death Note left me the strongest impression. The sense of genuinely wanting to know more on how the story would unfold was really intense.

The most recent ones which got me with their first episodes were Banana Fish and Promised Neverland. Older ones would be Death Note, Attack on Titan and some more, but these are the most memorable for me at least

Boku Dake/Erased. That first episode was so strong, and it stayed strong for the first half. Too bad it didn't stay that way, with the showing ending on an AWFUL conclusion, but I had insanely high hopes after that greatly executed first episode.

I really loved the first 3 episodes of Re:Zero, unfortunately those were the best of the whole show (IMO). Rest were still decent though.

Definitely Akame ga Kill's first episode was dope. I remember watching it a few years ago and it struck me so hard that first episode. I couldn't stop watching until I finished it. It is overall a good anime, in my opinion.
Also, Monster began pretty strong. My all-time favourite.

Within two episodes, Lain had completely taken my brain over.

Karekano, Haruhi and Gakkou Gurashi were also already brilliancies by the time three episodes had passed.

Shingeki no Kyojin: The first 7 episodes are shocking. After that it goes downhill for my taste (then it becomes a rollercoaster).

Gantz: It is impactful, and the first mission is very shocking (especially in the manga).

Death Note: Very interesting way to show the main character and how he thinks (also, Mamoru Miyano added a ton of layers into Light by putting the voice of him).

Naruto: out of the big three, this one for me is the best in terms of showing what the show is about, who is the main and how the world revolves.

Made in Abyss: As soon as you see it you know it will be an experience.

Tantei Opera Milky Holmes Season 2 has the best first three episodes ever. Literally the best episodes the franchise has to offer. Runner-ups are Cross Ange and Kotoura-san (the latter becomes average after the first few episodes).
