It wasn't popular at all anymore. It has been consistently ranking last place or close to last place in the rankings for over a year. The sales went to the lowest they have ever been. The current volumes are even selling lower than the first two volumes did when they were first released.

Also the current arc in the manga is probably one of the worst arcs I've ever seen in any manga or anime. I didn't really enjoy the arc where the anime stopped that much but it was still by far better than the final arc of the manga. I've never before seen sales decrease this fast for a manga and the final arc was probably the nail in the coffin.

im just curious if it gets a real ending or did they just keep it with an open ending ?
did they give the mangaka some chapter to end it with a proper ending ?

because i had it with incompleted anime / manga

We still don't know if the ending we got is the actual ending or if there's more. Basically there will be three bonus chapters in a different magazine under a different title, but it's not made sure what kind of chapters those will be. The last chapter had the messages "END" and "Last chapter" written on the last page.

I would say the mangaka had enough time to wrap everything up since that arc has been ongoing for about 50 chapters. If there really is nothing additional, then my guess would be that the mangaka screwed up with scheduling and didn't fit everything he had left to do into the remaining chapters. Long running manga like Shokugeki no Souma are most definitely given an advance notice of when they should try to wrap up their story if they're getting cancelled. Because it takes longer to wrap up long running manga than a new series.

The last chapter actually dropped today, or at least the last chapter in WSJ. It's still only a scanlation, so it hasn't been officially released as of yet. It's still very disappointing and basically doesn't wrap up anything. Unless those three bonus chapters wrap up the rest, it's basically an open ending. I'm guessing they have to. The last chapter was still pretty bad content wise.

After the way the manga has developed, I'm astonished people can get their hopes up for this.
I think people just aren't aware of how bad it gets, but it is one of the few times i can think of where even the die hard fans turn on the series. We will see if the anime somehow salvages it or at least lessens the blow. The ability to adapt multiple chapters alone makes it less painful i think.

I really enjoyed everything up to the Central arc. I'm an anime only, and while I wouldn't say the Central arc is horrible, it lost a lot of the appeal which the previous arcs had, plus the slideshow really didn't help at all. It's a shame really especially since I have yet to see a manga reader even try to defend the manga following the end of season 3.

I suppose I'll tune in to season 4 when it does air, but I won't be expecting much.

if you think Central arc was horrible wait until you see the final arc. it made Central arc look like masterpiece in comparission

So more erotic reactions to food, exploding clothes, ecchi, boys with sharp looking eyes and colourful hair, ecchi, food porn, ridiculous cooking techniques that you would never see from Guy Fieri, a bunch of shady villains that look down on MC, ecchi, and of course, Isshiki’s well done rump.

Who in their right mind would think that doing this is a good idea? The studio can give it their 110% when doing this and it will still come out as shit. Not much you can do for an awful story. Only downhill from here on out boys.

Despite the at times, lackluster animation. It is still quite catchy and dramatic. Plenty of comedy elements, too.

As someone who likes cooking, I also find interest in the cooking aspect as well.

The stills themselves are done well. And the food animation is also excellent.

This, and all the other half-spoiler comments, are now making me think it's going to take a downturn...

Oh well. I will still watch it, and judge for myself. If it's not as good, I'll just rate it lower than the other seasons. :)

Wow. The series has all the potential in the world and thats what they come up with. That sounds almost as bad as the Usagi Drop manga ending. It's like a bunch of college kids got high and started saying "you know it would be cool if x person cooked with this!" "Way to think outside the box bro! Add it in!" My god... your average fanfic writer could come up with something better.

Not sure if watching that disaster would make me laugh or depressed.

To be honest Blue arc had the potential to be the best SnS arc but the writer messed up everything.
Like Blue is literally The Central with higher stakes now.

At this point i'm hoping for an Anime original ending.

I kind of want it to end on a good note, so do you think they might sacrifice some comedy for romance instead. Or some fanservice for a little harsh reality. I doubt they will, but the show going in more serious direction should help it, I mean the cooking is most importand, but how about instead of comedy and ecchi we add some romance and drama, I mean cooking isn't alwais fun like Souma's dad showd us last season..

My heart goes out to all the underage anime fans expecting anything good at all to come from J.U. STaff after OPM S2, and even better, the anime now starting to cover where the series turns shit. How nice it must be to be blind and full of hope/hype...

Anyone knows how far they'd get with adapting the Manga - with 12 or 24 episodes? With the manga finished I hope the animation will eventually (if not with this then with 1-2 more seasons) fully adapt it.

And I have already watched that much ... so I'll stay until the end. (Heard though it would get a bit worse and I already thought it got less good. After thea beat Erinas father there probably won't be any more good enemies left. I guess it is good that the manga didn't run endlessly like your usual battle shounen that gets repetitive.)

but maybe they'll do some original ideas to make the story better also OPM S2 was decent stop nitpicking any stupid reason you know that the anime industry is rough for some animators or directors so don't be like "oh they ruinnnned itttttttt" they're trying with what they can do

"dude stop criticzing!!!!"
OPM S2 shouldn't have been """decent"""", calling it decent is an insult to actual decent shows out there. It was garbage. The editing was terrible, the sound design was god-awful, the pacing was attrocious, the """animation""" was non-existent aside from maybe like 40 seconds to a minute each episode thanks to one guy who was overworked almost half to death still somehow managing to produce extremely well-made cuts purely out of passion.

Do not defend J.C. Staff's incompetence, by doing that you're defending the practice of rushing out series under terrible deadlines/overworking employees already earning jack shit just because you don't want to hurt the feelings of a faceless corporation. OPM S2 should have been absolutely fantastic like the first season was, it was atrocious and failed in every way as an adaptation, comparing it to the manga is an absolute joke. They rushed the adaptation in under 4 months despite it being YEARS since season 1 was finished.

Don't accept mediocrity, have some actual standards mate, J.C. Staff are a shit studio that prioritize making money above all else, which is why they treat their staff like shit by trying to hoard and release so many seasons of anime at once to print money without caring about quality/caring about actual fair work schedules for their employees.

also did the manga gets a proper ending or did they rush thing in just few chapters

there wil be one more arc after this, if this season have more than 24 episodes then they might can cover the whole manga but there is nothing really interesting to look forward after central arc in my opinion but it would be great to see everything in anime adaption.

nope it was SAVED and the guys who worked on it did their best and i know what the anime industry is having also can't you ever think that we'll get fixes in the BD Verison so it might not be like S1 but who cares it was known that it'll be hard they'll do something like S1 because the industry isn't in a position to do that it's more depends on circumstances too

also J.C.Staff is not the most anime studio that is overworked only because most of the anime studios are overworked too even Bones , Mappa and I.G are overworked the whole Industry is OVERWORKED so the joke is on you !
and if you think J.C.Staff are greedy as you think why they did get help from Studio LAN in episode 8 , 11 and 12 i mean they could just not do that and let OPM S2 die and get the money easily and they tried to not use CGi on genco and just using some mixture between 2D and 3D drawings i know it's not the best idea but for a situation like this it's the best option instead of using CGi and it's not like they wanted to ruin his design they did this to make it easy for the animators to DRAW i mean i bet they cares about their shows and animators i know it's predictable to misjudge them since yeah they do mistakes but by a reason it's not like they're lazy or anything but basically they know what to do and they try to face this rough anime industry pressure which isn't easy as you think so they're not like what you say , they're trying , the animators works by their choice too i think , so don't talk like they were forced because it doesn't seem to be the case either Aoki even seems not bothered and was just having fun and studio LAN understand what they're facing unlike you the viewer who just don't care and want to blame them also they're the kind who release much anime in a year it's their thing since the 90s but that doesn't mean they didn't care about their anime's quality because you know the answer in their classic anime and they're still the same old studio but in a different circumstances that's all

also mediocrity isn't bad but it isn't good either i know that and i know that it should have been great but wait for the BD first and have some patience and in the end all the blame should be put on Banadi and TV Tokyo since they could have waited until J.C.Staff becomes more ready instead of just doing it on the time they're wanting it to be ready without caring about the quality of the season
J.C.Staff not even part of the production committee they're just working for hire it's NOT THEIR IP but i bet they wanted to do their best in a known IP like OPM but not in a situation like that and the animators that are overworked by them as you say is not really the case it's just they have to do that it's their job and Banadi and TV Tokyo who wanted these results and who decided on time not JC so it's like we are obligated to do that job but it's not JC's decision ofc Plus Bandai and Shueisha being brutal to work with as the only two members of the committee doesn't leave Sakurai and JC Staff with much space or freedom to work and it's a much worse case than Toei's case with Dragon Ball Super and Tokyo Ghoul Re's case which both Toei and Pierrot aren't should be blamed too since they aren't in the upper top of the production committee it's shueisha so that's why i defend JC because it's unfair to blame them actually and it's just a waste of time to blame them too since in the end they're were HIRED to do that there's a difference and you should be grateful that they tried their best even with the hardships of it instead of moaning like baby and i Bet if they were having time it might be in the level of Fate UBW's animation and designs if not in the level of S1 since it's hard dude just face it
