| I've always insisted that DBZ would have been far better if Vegeta had become the MC after his "redemption". Goku has always been such a nothing character, while Vegeta has had actual growth and development throughout the series. |

| Honestly, I would have preferred Mordred/Shishigou duo to be the protagonists in Fate/Apocrypha. They were way more interesting and enjoyable to watch than Jeanne and her beloved Sieg... I don't have anything against Jeanne but the inconsistencies of her character throughout the series were too noticeable for me to fully like her. |
| My favorites are usually side characters. Some examples would be Reigen from Mob Psycho, Hisoka from HxH, Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha, Minori from Toradora!, Levi from SNK and Aizawa and Todoroki from My Hero Academia. |

Swapping out the MC would change so many dynamics for almost any given show, it wouldn’t necessarily make it better, in fact it could even make it worse. So I’ll just list side characters I found to be better: Gin, Kisuke, kenpachi > Ichigo Might Guy, Itachi > Naruto Killua, hisoka, killuas dad and grandpa, chrollo, feitan, and half the other HxH characters > Gon Kurama, hiei > Yusuke |

| You don't have a good story without a good supporting cast, so my favourites side characters are: King Kashue from the Lodoss world; Reigen from Mob Psycho 100; Kaito Kid from Detective Conan; Aizen from Bleach; Sakamoto and Takasugi from Gintama, being Gintoki an awesome character; Hijikata from Golden Kamuy; Takamura from Hajime no Ippo; Megumin from KonoSuba; Aomine from Kuroko no Basket. And the legendary ROY FOCKER, from SDF Macross. Better stop here, too much characters in mind. |

| Many replies in this thread suggest that it would've been better that some side/supporting characters had been the main characters of their respective series instead, since they were more interesting or appealing than the actual main ones, but I disagree with this. These side characters are made sometimes more appealing on purpose; because their presence is what precisely helps to counterbalance the relevance of the main characters and what helps to avoid that the series consist in "one man's shows", where all the attention is congregated in the main character and all the rest nobody cares. Narratively speaking, that isn't very appealing, and doesn't work much. Imagine for example if Karma had been the MC in AC. Would anybody have cared (that much) about Nagisa if that had been the case? I doubt it. |
| Goddamn, you don't know how badly I wanted Laura to be the main character of Aikatsu Stars! over Yume. Cause one, the show would finally have a main character I like, two she's the main character I want to see succeed, and three she deserved everything that Yume got so much more but alas the writers cucked her success until the end. Literally, she and the other side characters are the reason I even watched that show despite knowing how it was "Yume's show" lol. |

| I've always wanted to see the villains perspective in the story and there are often times where I prefer side characters much more. I love the main characters from hxh but if hisoka was a mc as well, regerfrwgSF that'd just be amazing. I'd also like to see Jonouchi(Joey) from yugiohs perspective of the show. |

| Levi and Erwin from Snk? Actually, even with Historia spotlight in 3 season it became a better show, worst main characters ever. Todoroki from BNHA could be a great MC, but Midoriya is fine too. Akashi from Kuroko no Basket, I feel like there was too little screentime for pretty huge psychological problems... |
