| I think you’re too obsessed with labels OP. Everyone is different. Just because they like a different type of anime than you doesn’t mean they are an elitist. I like LOTGH and a few of Yuasa’s shows and wouldn’t consider myself an elitist. |

I'm not one of those people, I have this (insert ecchi or popular shounen) in my favorites. Even though the rest of their list is as textbook and predicable as it gets with the same shows from that pool of 25 or so shows that everyone knows are elitist shows. They are basically one of those guys that says they aren't racist because they have a black friend. |

| Yes, these "elitists" that spend all their time worshiping "prolific" MAL reviewers are quite problematic. They spend so much time liking anime different from my tastes and surrounding themselves without people they like. It's personally very concerning and I don't feel safe anymore without a loaded M-16 within arms reach. Before this problem gets out of hand, I have an idea to stop it. A Humble Proposition for Countering the Followers of Elitist People From Being a Hindrance to MAL Users or Anime Fans, and For making them Helpful to the Community. It is a gloomy sight to weeaboos, who peruse this great forum, or travel in the web, when they see the threads, the comments, and videos crowded with elitists of little sex, followed by three, four, or six children, all of poor taste, begging every reviewer for a donation of wisdom. These weeaboos instead of being able to think for their honest understanding, are forced to employ all their time in wandering to beg intelligence for they are helpless infants who, as they grow up, either turn thieves of content for want of work, or leave their dear native community, to fight for the pretender in Anilist, or sell themselves to the Youtube. I think it is agreed by all parties, that this prodigious number of children in the arms, or on the backs, or at the heels of the elitists and frequently of their worshiped reviewers, is in the present deplorable state of Myanimelist, a very great additional grievance; and therefore whoever could find out a fair, cheap and easy method of making these children sound and useful members of MAL forums, would deserve so well of the website, as to have his statue set up for a preserver of MyAnimeList. But my intention is very far from being confined to provide only for the children of professed elitists: it is of a much greater extent, and shall take in the whole number of infants at a certain mental age, who are born of pseudointellectuals in effect as little able to support them, , as those who demand our charity on Patreon. It was more aimed at the OP, seeing the sheer amount of elitist related threads we're getting here (but I'll reply you anyway). It's just that from what I've seen actual elitism is extremely rare, but complaining about it is dime in a dozen. Insecurity is the only reason I can think of why one would feel the need to be so defensive and loud about such a fringe phenomenon. Of course, if you disagree you're free to enlighten me what the reasoning is on your part. Well, unless you think that everyone who likes psychological anime is an elitist, in which case they're really common, myself included. But I thought the point of this thread was to be against people who dismiss anime just based on its genre, hm? |

| For anyone curious about Doremi, there's an insightful review. The user who has written it is apparently dead, but it's better than guessing. Of course you could also simply ask someone else with Doremi in his favorites. |

From my childhood memories and from the few new episodes I watched: they deal in a very interesting way with someone's problems and they can get very adult / not so childish like you would imagine they were in an anime for children. I think there was a good episode about grief and also divorce etc. It's educational and pedagogical for children in first place and as I can remember it's just sweet. But I didn't have too much interest in it as a child, because it looked so sweet. I still don't understand why you would think it's so much better than anything else, but to each their own. xD The final season of Doremi (which is supposed to be the best one) was never dubbed in German, therefore no one who watched the show back on Pokito has actually seen the part everyone praises. That would sort of explain, why people who watched it many years ago never call it a masterpiece. |
