It just has to be better than any other anime I've seen, even with its imperfections. |

I'm not that harsh of a rater in the first place. I rate anime that I watch mostly based on whether or not I enjoyed it. Of course I'll take into account the actual plot and whether it was done well or not, but an anime could have a mediocre or cliche plot and I'll still rate it a bit higher than the average person because I enjoyed it. But for an anime to be a 10/10, then not only do I have to enjoy it, it also has to have a really compelling story. Just because I really enjoyed an anime doesn't mean it has a good chance of being rated a 10/10 or 9/10. I've watched many anime that I had a great time watching, but because of its plot, character development etc. it didn't deserve getting a 10/10. For example, the High School DxD series. I really enjoyed watching it and still do, but I just can't give it a 10/10 because in reality it doesn't deserve it. |

When I really like something minor flaws it might have don't really bother me so I won't be very critical of it. So in that case, it's a 10. Sometimes an anime I like has some bigger problems then it's a 9 or 8. |

I’m not too harsh when giving anime 10s but I do have certain things I look for: 1. Did this anime change me or inspire me? (ex A Place Further Then The Universe (a 10/10 as of airing)) 2. Did this anime have a likable cast all around? (ex Haruhi Suzumiya, K-On!) 3. Did this anime make me think? (ex A Silent Voice) Is it overall a 10/10 experience that I would recommend to anybody? That’s what I look for. That being said I would consider any anime I rate 9/10 to be a favorite as well, just not one that Id recommend to everybody |

My standards for a 10/10 anime are that I have no standards for anything and anyone, anything is a 10/10 but at the same time nothing is, and the reason for this is because who actually cares about how other people score things. |
every single one of my forum posts is dumb and invalid except for 1, I don't claim them it was a different person it was all fake |

Well I haven't rated anything with 10/10 for me to do that the show would have to be perfectly entertaining and keep me invested for the entire run time witch is something that hasn't occurred up until now |

I hardly ever give a 10/10 rating. But my standards would be that it must have a good cast of characters and maintain my inteterest throughout the series. That’s what makes a great anime. |

it has to be an anime which truly made me feel something else, even with it's flaws that it had i was able to ignore them, maybe even crying over how good it was that also left a void to some extent. the reasons as to why fmab and gurren lagann are my only 10s. |

I generally give pretty high overall scores for anime and manga, however, I only have two that I have ever rated 10/10. Looking back at them there is nothing that sticks out as making it FLAWLESS. I can criticize my ten rated anime/manga heavily but it is the ability to make me overlook these issues and walk away from a series feeling completely happy and satisfied that warrants a 10/10 |

ChiisaiInu said: I take the MAL rating system serious and find too many people rate everything from 5-10 usually 8-10. I find these people to be either dishonest, ignorant of how a rating system works, or that I just cant take them seriously when they rate or review something. Personally unless your new to anime if your mean score is 7+ I think your doing something wrong. There is no wrong way to rate anime. The reason behind the difference in rating method is difference in interpretation of the little words next to the score. According to those little words next to the score 4 = bad 5 = average 6 = Fine 7 = good 8 = very good 9 = great Imagine a person think almost every anime he have seen is great. Then an "average (5) anime" for him is basically the same thing as a "great (9) anime". It would make sense for him to spread his score at both 5 or 9. However, even the meaning of "average" is comparative, "bad" (4) and "fine" (6) are not. A "very good" anime to a person can be below average ("comparatively bad"), but it couldn't be just "bad", so it won't make sense for that person to spread his score around 5 instead of 9. I am a person who takes the later approach (literal interpretation). So I'm rating starting from 6, because if I finish watching an anime, it is definitely at least fine (6), even though it can be comparatively bad. Just like food, if I'm eating it, it is at least fine, even though it could taste comparatively bad. |

There are some things that make an anime perfect i.e. 10/10 for me, 1. A compelling plot which makes you think and not just follow along 2. Relatable characters and higher the number, the better 3. Must bring out an emotional reaction from me quite often 4. Fabulous art, an intriguing world and settings 5. Some kind of a message expressed as a whole, I prefer positive ones. As some observation, all the anime I have rated 10 have amazing OPs, EDs and soundtrack but the reverse scenario is not true. They also have a higher number of episodes i.e. 20+ because I like my pace slower, multiple seasons is fine too. There is always a romantic subplot that pays off in the end, its satisfying to see a ship sail. But of course many anime can have all that and I still not feel it, so the final point still depends on a feeling. A feeling that it is worth a 10! |

A 10/10 for me is an anime where I can't find any flaws, I actually feel heavy emotions and of course enjoy it a lot. It makes me think and might actually change me as a person or make me realize what kind of person I am. Apart from that, as these are also the criteria I have for a 9/10, it just has to feel like I can't give it deserves less than a 10. I do put great consideration into this though because they are the cream of the crop to me and even when decided I question myself if it's really the only justified score. Usually the highest score I give is a 9. |

Characters, art, dialogues and plot. But, the most imoortant part is wherher or not an anime stays true to what it is, like the anime never breaks character. An example is if a comedy with no plot for 9 eps, suddenly comes up with a plot for the sake of giving it a plot, that deserves a 4/10. |

I didn't give many 10s, but for me there's not much difference between a 9 and a 10. I also don't go on every thread and praise them to high heavens. But if I rate an anime with a 9 or a 10 then I really liked the story, characters, art/animation, and soundtrack. That's available for an 8 too, except maybe I got too annoyed by a character or something. |

Not sure. I don't rate things since I think it's kind of silly, but the best things I've seen, heard, or read usually evoke some sort of emotional response from me. Something physical that excites me or moves me in some way. Or maybe something that gets me to think about something in a totally different way. Something revolutionary. |

10/10 is something I LOVED and found no problems that bothered me. Or the anime excelled at something and I found it very beautiful, so even if the anime had other flaws, I can forgive them because of how beautiful this something was. 10/10 can be something that blew my mind. Something that captured my heart. Something I found as new. *** S;G is a masterpiece for me...It was an easy 10/10. When I understood the mechanics, I apprectited the anime even more. S;G was the door of VNs for me. Angel Beats, has a big plot hole -I have seen some explainations, but yeah, still a plot hole-, but I can forgive it because this anime was very emotional and had a good story. Boku no Hero Academia S2, the anime is amazing from the beginning to the end, but what made promise this anime a 10/10 when it finishes airing is episode 10 and the beautifully animated fight which was the best I had seen since a long time ago. Chunnibyou, I can talk about how cute and beautifully animated it is. But the major reason I gave a 10 is that it was what I needed at the time I watched it. Something funny/romantic FMAB, I gave it a 9 Because the truth about father's plans sucked. Then it became let's go all out and destory everything. |

Must meet these requirements: - It fits my preferences of the type of anime I like (which is usually action, super power,...) - Have the ability to easily move my emotion (no matter if it is intended or not) - I don't find any of the main cast annoying - I find myself very attached to one or more of the main cast (and other major characters) - The relationship between the characters must be deep and great enough to born a new OTP - Glorious music to add to epic moments is a plus - Distinctive and somewhat original story in it's own way - Must contain some form of bromance or very deep or complicated bond between the main cast - Has multiple epic, unforgettable moments - I find myself extremely hyped everytime I watch it - I find myself rewatch it unlimited times - I find myself buried in it's meta, theories, character analysis, fanarts, fanvids, fanfics, doujinshis for years to come |

if my enjoyment is a 10/10 mostly? But also when an anime hit me so hard that all my emotions are on the ground, and I felt like I got stabbed in the heart maybe, or just when I reeeally love a good lineup of characters in the show, good characters certainly make a good anime, doesn't matter if the plot is good or not. Like HxH 2011 wasn't a 10/10 only because of plot, it's a very simple plot, but the characters and everything the show was all about, the arcs and the awesome choreographed fight scenes made up for everything. |

All a 10/10 anime needs to do for me is to move me in some way or the other. Flaws and problems I have with it are instantly nullified and relegated to unimportance if it manages to do that. I don't believ in valuing negatives and positives equally. So if a show manages to do that then I'll immediately baptize it with a 10. Well, that or be Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei which I can't stop flinging tens at for some reason. The above, however, has only ever happened with one show. |

I don't really have a clear and definite description for a 10/10 show, even if I had one it'd have to be a very broad definition as I don't think being deep, thought-provoking, philosophical or having compelling characters and a well-written plot is a prerequisite for a 10/10 show like many do. For me a 10/10 show is a show that engaged me in a way that none ever did, one that I want to return to for years to come. |
