Ever take long breaks to help you "miss" anime again?

My hobby of watching anime often takes a backseat to my hobby of playing video games.
This often results in me just playing video games and just not watching anime at all for a very long period of time.
Sometimes months.
But when there's nothing "good to play" in regards to video games and when I have allot of free time on my hands where I'm doing absolutely nothing, that's usually when I'll actually start binge watching shows.
And it's refreshing to do so after a long break.
Anyone do this on purpose though?

I decided to stop watching anime for 6 months and restart anime in June. That's because of my exams though, and not because I do it on purpose to miss it.

The first time I really got into anime was around 2010, when I only watched shounen like Fairy Tail, One Piece, Naruto, etc. And I stopped watching in 2012(I think), and started to get more into reading Marvel and DC comics, watching super heroes` movies, series and such.

By the end of 2014, I finally got into anime again, and it was a great experience, because there were so many new good ones to watch, a lot of friends to talk with, a lot of anime games to play, merch to buy and stuff like that.

I also take breaks from specific animes/manga, like I'm currently doing it with Gintama, Snk, MHA, and some others that I got tired of watching/reading, but I hope to get motivated enough someday to catch up with these

I switch between video games and anime sometimes. Depends on what I feel like doing at the time.

No, for me, taking a long break from something makes me realize I dont need it, and I end up doing that thing less and less. I took a 4 month break from anime once, and now I struggle to get through my backlog. I once took a break from my favorite online game once, and now I only get online for an hour every other week.

Yeah i do this sometimes too but never consciously. Honestly my gaming has gotten very behind the last few years because i picked up cross stitching and its easy to cross stitch and watch anime but not cross stitch and play video games. :P but i have been debating on only doing anime in my weekly sessions with my friend when she comes over to watch with me and trying to get caught up on some of my games.

Not really, I've been balancing anime, manga and video games pretty consistently for a while now without thinking about it. The only thing I take breaks for is video games that I play regularly, too much of one game can burn me out but with anime and manga there's plenty of different stuff so I never lose interest.

Basically the same for me.

Everyday I stay away from anime is a blessing upon my name. A few more months and I'll be out of this hell.

See ya, weaboos.

I take long breaks because I get burnt out, but not with intent to get back into it.

My long term memory is so good when it comes to anime, that its almost impossible for me to enjoy a show again because I can recall a good 80-90% of what I watched even if I watched it 3 years ago and have never touched that show in that three years. I don't even need to watch Rabu Raibu because I have pretty much memorized the entire show, except for Sunshine Second Season, to the dot.

We're like twins almost lol. I can enjoy a show again only if it is truly entertaining on more than a basic level.

Ever since I became an anime fan ever since 2012, I haven't taken any breaks that last long for more than a week. Even then, I watch 1-2 episodes within that week. Though, obviously, I do some stuff other than anime and that is enough for me to feel refreshed, finishing an anime and diving to a new one is always exciting for me hence I will never get tired of it.

I'm on that "long break" right now lol

Though not out of choice, work has prevented me from watching pretty much anything --;

I haven't taken any breaks since I started watching anime regularly last 2015 but it was so busy last year (it was hell). I didn't watched any anime for months and I find it hard to get back into it.

I bounce between Motorsports and anime frequently. Not much going on in the motorsports world right now beyond WRC and Formula e, so Anime has my attention.

I barely watched anything in the past 3 months. I am fine. I had longer breaks anyway - like 2 years.
