When you think about it...it kinda is...

People get mad when their waifus don’t get picked, waifu wars are never ending and ultimately no one wins.

Still, it is fun, so...I don’t know...

It is destructive and has been going on for years. As long as there are waifu potentials then there will always be naval wars. There will be ships sailing but the unlucky ships will sink. I'm probably the worst admiral since all my ships have sunk.

what's wrong with waifuism is not waifusim it self... it's the obsession... just like anything, really...

nah because if you watch the show without a a waifu bias, you can spot which waifu wins. Waifu wars comes from ignorance of the plot.

i guess there are a lot of things in anime that are not healthy.

-Waifu adicciton
-Imouto fetish
-excessive desire for an isekai sceneario
- anime with ecchi in the "how am i suposse to show my parents im not a pervert with this show" scale
- etc..

It´s is nice to have a 2D character that represents what do you have as an ideal for the perfect woman / man, the problem is when you take things to far.

What you're talking about there isn't waifuism but best girl wars. And yes they're stupid as fuck and does nothing but reduce your enjoyment of various anime so for your own sake you should stop doing it. This doesn't take a genius to figure out

I actually think it’s very possible to like 2D characters and still be social.

The lines only get blurred when you start to fantasize about 2D in such a way that it affects what you do in the real world in a very negative way.

Other than that, I think it’s harmless fun...

Waifuism reduce birth rate, and high birth rate is the root of poverty. so I'd say that waifu culture is actually constructive.

Is destructive? Yes, pretty much.
But, does that means is necesarily bad? Not at all. Things wouldn't be that funny if we wouldn't have people salty because their waifus were savagely rejected.

You say these heretical things like "waifus" in the plural and it horrifies me.

Not really, humans need something to fill their minds and funnel their passion into. Be glad that so many people's attention is on stupid wars over their favourite 2D character, rather than actual shit that people could get hurt over.

Same applies to fanaticism all over the world over celebrities of all sort, it's the exact same obsessions over a different unobtainable figure. If they weren't being destructively obsessed with waifu wars, they'd probably be destructive obsessed over some other trivial thing.

Is it destructive for their lives? Perhaps if they take it too far. Is it for me? No because their lives are none of my concern.

i usually go to bed at 5 in the morning and wake up at around 9 so i'm not sure if that counts as seriously sleeping

sleeping sucks anyway though

think of all the cool shit you could be doing while you're sleeping, could be using it as downtime to do things you like but nah, gotta go to sleep 'cuz tired

sleeping is bullshit tbh

Why do you people only think M.C always picked the Tsundere one ? Plenty number of show didn't choose this route. Naruto for Exmaple
