Why are there not many child actors in anime?

I never see pubescent kids voicing pubescent kids in anime, which strikes me as really odd. When kids in anime go from prepubescent to pubescent the voice change is way too drastic even for pubescents.

Are there any young teen actors or characters portrayed by them?

That's because the kids and teenagers have their academics, school and college to worry about. And I'm pretty sure they are not allowed to work before reaching a certain age (20 maybe).

Being a voice actor is a full-time job. Do you think kids have the time to have a full-time job?

Cause their screen time voicing any set of role doesn't fit their daily schedule.

Think you got it OP

Barakamon and Amaama to Inazuma have child VAs iirc. Also currently airing SukaSuka seems to have one. But as @Omkar_Nagwade said, they have school and such, so maybe there aren't many of them. Also I heard that seiyuu needs a lot of training and the industry is very competitive so maybe there's a relation to that?

Actually some currently well-known VAs started their career at young age and voiced young children characters (ex: Yuuki Aoi and Hanazawa Kana voiced child characters in 2003, they're in elementary or middle school that time)

Well to put it simply, while I'm not going to say there's none of them (because there are its just very minor) having them in a position of a voice acting career is rather struggling. Especially how it would depend on how the develop through the atmosphere as well.

Lots of seiyuu making their big breaks actually are like 16-20 though, which is still pretty young.

The same thing happens in America. Other than differences in how companies have to work with children (like child labor laws), children are inexperienced, children grow up and hit puberty so their voices change....etc.

One of the few successful(?) child voice actresses I can think of is the girl who voiced the jellyfish in Kuragehime and Ichigo in Aikatsu. She started voice acting like...at age 11 or 12? and has had pretty consistent work since.

Some do, but just remember that get some kid of the street or a professional voice actor's son or daughter to play a voice rather than just using a professional with a naturally youthful voice is going to downgrade the quality of the voice acting. Child labour is illegal so training them is difficult and even getting them to play a minor role might take away valuable time from their studies. Even Japanese high schoolers have a hard time maintaining part time jobs so elementary school students having jobs would really detriment their future. Children aren't our slaves, after all. Besides, if amateurs were taking most of the roles in shows with young casts then voice acting would seem like an even more futile career to go into.

Kids in the west work in dub, kids also works as actors in both japan and in the west, so I dont see how is that an argument.

It's just easier to get an adult because its easier to work with one.

There are "kids" voice acting - but since school and studies is a pretty big and very important thing in Japan - there's no way people would let a child choose voice acting over school [well - in a normal case].

There have been cases when the voices of boy child voice actors changed during the show - I think that's another big point. Because a "sudden" voice change does not always fit the image - especially when the character isn't aging by that moment. [Jinpei from Gatchaman is pretty famous example of a voice change during the show.]

Working conditions in most western countries and Japan are pretty different so I'd say comparing kids working for English dub shows with Japanese anime [Seiyuu business in Japan is really harsh.] isn't a really good point.

i don't said impossible, i just answering why it rarely happened, and it does...

also, seiyuu training is hard, need a lot of time, and has harsh reality... sure, some seiyuu started since young, but they are mainly has relation with entertainment to begin with that make them not unfamiliar with it... it's totally different with westen... not to mention social stigma in eastern when education is still the main concern of kids...

so, i don't said ther is no such a thing, but it still hard thing to do, and kids seiyuu automaticaly become rare...

Except for voice acting being a job. Many of the voices in anime pander to a certain audience and are not realistic kids voices.

This sounds like a strange question because cartoons like Ben 10, Spongebob and fairly odd parents never had child voice actors so why would anime need child voice actors?
