Watching movies or anime fansubs is now officially a crime in Germany and will be punished. Prior to this it was always some kind of legal limbo, but not anymore. The only thing I can do now is to commit suicide use Crunchyroll, but CN really doesn't have that many anime I'm interested in and CN Germany has even less. FUCK MY LIFE |

Well uh Idk. Its a form of entertainment so him not watching stuff even if it isn't as very constant its still gonna be a pain in the ass. Heck PR has shit shows and all and if they tried to enforce something like that I would rather be a pirate :T even though I am. I won't deny that I watch on illegal streams so. |

You're acting like there is no way to watch anime in Germany. But there are actually plenty ways to watch. If you're not satisfied with Crunchyroll or any of the other streaming services such as Akiba Pass or AOD - then how about import UK/US releases? |

It was illegal all the time and nothing will change. Some jap company would have to sue. They couldn't be bothered with baka gaijin in the past and they won't start bothering now. Local publishers have always fought against illegal streaming of licensed anime but the pirates were always smarter. No one will be sued because the uploader are the main target, not some fat virgin that streams a show. |

I remember some of my friends stocking up on downloads before they went to study to germany for a year because they deemed it too risky to illegally down TV series and movies over there. And that was like 8 years ago. http://www.settle-in-berlin.com/illegal-file-sharing-germany-letter-cease-desist-warning/ I don't think this is anything new. e: okay so apparently this new law makes sure that streaming is treated the same way instead of being a grey zone. Sucks to be a streamer, I guess. But it makes sense. I'm still pretty sure this won't be relevant for non-licensed series since there simply is noone who would pay lawyers to seek out people who watch stuff that nobody has licensed in germany anyway. |

You and I are in the same boat (not exactly). Your Chancellor declared fan subs illegal in Germany, here, the CEO of Sony India decided to replace Animax- a channel which airs anime 24x7 with no ads except anime ads- with a channel with cancer inducing kids cartoons made locally. That is fucked up. FUCK MY LIFE too. |

If you apply the laws from before the internet era, it was not unclear at all. Of course, some people could argue about it in court and avoid a too harsh judgement but only by playing on words. But it was still illegal: you don't have to make and write in the Code a law about stealing an egg if there was already a law about stealing... In other words, it changed nothing apart maybe allocating a specific sentence/amend to this case in particular. @codephat It was, always has been and still is. No matter if the cultural product license is owned by a company in the country or not. |

Wow I see a lot of people talking about things they don't know. Stop it guys, they can control what pages you visit and what you download. Now they said that streaming is illegal. But no one will get sued because of it. And don't forget that this was just a judgment from the european court. It's not a law yet. Every case needs to go to court and be settled individual and that costs much money. |

A few months back, Supreme Court of India tried to ban all porn websites for all public domains. The backlash was huge, very huge. Though that's not to say we don't fulfill our sexual fantasies by raping some random woman on the streets. I expect this to last only for a week or two. If not, we may very well witness history in making where bunch of weebspeople try to impeach a government so that they can fap to their waifus illegally. |
