If you are going to give AOT a 3 why bother watching the second season?
On a general note, if you give a low score to something in the first season why continue with the second unless you have read the manga/LN/VN (idk).

For fun sake. There are people who didn't like it if they are enjoying it. They would prefer to have torturous experience and thus rate anime like boku no pico 10.

Also why you gotta make a forum post targeted at me, Inori?

There always is a possibility that I will like the next season more, you know. For example, the 1st season of K-On is 5/10 for me and I was reluctant to giving the 2nd season a chance but it actually turned out way better and I gave it a strong 8/10. Also, Maria Holic - I scored the 1st season 4/10 but I enjoyed the 2nd one much more and I scored it higher.

I can't understand to begin with why you're allowed to rate after the first episode. Sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me.

Because an opinion can be formed even after 1 minute and because you can always change your rating if you change idea. If YOU don't want to rate it, YOU don't have to.

"You should watch the second season, because it gets better."
"You don´t know, if something is bad unless you watched it."
"Why should you watch something, if you know you hate it?"

Perhaps they like the animation or OSTs and watch it for that reason. Even if some people don't like AoT storywise, they may agree that it is nicely packaded.

Generally speaking, sometimes it can happen that you like the sequel more for various reasons.

One Piece episode 914 & 915 & 1027 were a mistake and 957 brought the salvation - FMmatron

Keeping that opinion in spite of whatever happens after is a bad idea but forming an opinion as soon as you see something is pretty much inevitable as shallow that opinion might be. The thing is that opinions can change, just like the scores.

Whatever you like. I'm still gonna stand by my point that rating after one episode seems pointless to me.

i dont know who youre referring to, but if i start something, i always want to finish it. i don't like stopping myself from seeing the complete story. I keep up with tv series i think got mediocre, i watch every ova, and side story in anime related to something ive watched before even if some of these side stories are weak and a bit boring.

if someone didnt give attack on titan season 1 a very high rating, that doesnt mean they cant watch to see where it goes. maybe theyre opinion will change on the series as a whole if they stay with it, even if they think the first season wasnt really enjoyable for them.

(this is from someone who loves attack on titan, hanji and mikasa are two of my fave characters in an anime, and i loved seeing their storyline so i give it a 9, which is probably very high but if i enjoy something a lot i give high ratings)

It's a generic you, not you you. Some people like to update their score based on the last episode they've watched or just show more or less how they received that episode/episodes. This mostly happens with people that are following the anime weekly. Also sometime it's quite interesting seeing the peaks and drops in ratings as reaction to certain key episodes or events on https://anime-stats.net

Mhhh... I dunno but, rating a series not 1/10 and shitting on it just seems more genuine. It looks more real.

Frankly most people are only watching it despite disliking it because it is popular. It's also good for discussion.

For me personally, I'm rather indifferent towards AOT but the first season's animation and soundtrack did enough to warrant me giving the second season a try.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

I think some people just like to complete series even if they dont like it. From my past experiences I've disliked the first season of some animes, however I still watch the next season in hopes of it changing my perspective, which some have!

A multitude of reasons. Curiosity. Because they want to be able to join the immense amount of discussion about any show as popular as this. Because people are still stupid enough to not accept any criticism from people who haven't seen every second of something. Or out of a professional duty as a reviewer. Or, of course, to be obnoxious to the fans.

You don't get the psychological aspects of scoring. 1/10 people will just assume you're trolling or baiting and not take you seriously so the goal of pissing them off will be harder to reach. 3 or 4 claims legitimacy and not just being an irrationally hateful score. Much better effect usually.
I probably regret this post by now.
