Even if Japanese mainstream society is becoming more liberal (according to a friend of mine, who's a JP conservative), the government, and for some reason, the Otaku demographic, seems to be becoming more and more Nationalistic. We see this with Gate, all the military moe shit (Girls und Panzer, Kantai Collection), and all the historical stuff getting adapated. No idea how representative this is outside a very small group of people who fund the anime industry tho. |
