Which Genre of anime that you can't stand could you watch if it was mixed with another genre?

Example 1: You hate sports anime, but you like Romance-genre anime. Having the MC in that romance being on a sports team and briefly showing games while his/her loved one is watching or cheering them on, while following their dairy lives and their interactions with each other.

Sample anime: Suzuka.

Example 2: You hate romance, but you love sports anime. Having the MC have a crush on a main or supporting character while highlighting most of the training and games while maybe using said crush as an motivator that helps improve the character's performance and goals.

Sample anime: Kuroko No Basuke and Tetsuya's interactions with Satsuki.

Which Genre would you include with a Genre that personally prevents/slows you down from watching an anime and why?

Note: Not trying to turn 1 Genre and get rid of the other, but to add some or more elements of a genre to make it watchable.

I don't really like ecchi but when they mix it with school genre, I'd love to watch it. For example Shokugeki No Soma and Saenai Heroine no Sodatekara. I dont really like ecchi mix with magic and supernatural thing.

I liked the basketball in one episode of Clannad because it had a major emotional point but I don't like it otherwise. I like mechs anime when it's more character focused like Geass or Gurren Lagann.

Ecchi is almost always mixed with something else, the nature if it requires that it be mixed. Souma is my limit for ecchi tbh, at least there it is used in a hilarious way, most other ecchi just tries to be borderline hentai or ridiculous over done (as in ruining scenes with it).

So yeah with ecchi it needs to be a 90/10 split with something else. It happening occasionally and being timed correctly is w/e for me, but constant random ass panty shots is a no go.

You apparently don't understand the poll/question at all. It has nothing to do with sports. It only uses them as examples. Read all the other posts and you might be able to actually understand the question. It's all in context. There is nothing limiting the genres here...

Can't stand Psychological

I don't see it working very well with a Harem, but I'd still probably give it a shot just to see, so long as it didn't try too hard to be more psychological than harem I might enjoy it.

A Genre I can't stand is either Horror or Mecha.
If the story is more on the Romance/Drama/Action/ Supernatural/SoL and has bits of horror here and there, I wouldn't mind watching it. Same goes for Mecha Anime(Yes, I haven't yet watched Eureka-7)
I can be easily tricked into a Show if it has a Romance Genre. Lol..

I was never able to enjoy mecha. I've always had a slight aversion towards it. However, if you add some mystery and/or psychological elements in it, id watch it. And maybe dial it down with the robot fights.

Same here man, I enjoyed Bokurano only due to the added psychological/mystery elements. I also don't really like sports anime either though.

I happen to love sports anime. It's like a super power anime except they're pretending it's sports.

I like mastermind anime, but I'm not really into Mecha, it's a stupid way to make characters OP without doing anything for it (just my opinion).

That's more true for super robot shows, such as Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, or TTGL. Real Robot shows are different. Of course some real robot shows mix in super robot elements, such as in SPT Layzner the main mech, Lazyner, having a signature move.

Ecchi and Action.

While it's fairly common to see a action anime with ecchi, what I don't like is action anime with fighting sequences full of ecchi. You know, shows where the girls clothes explode off like they're made of paper. Shows like Ikkitousen, Queen's Blade, Valkyrie Drive, Freezing, etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch them, but not for the same reason I'll watch a regular action show as the action in action/ecchi shows is often terrible to the point I'm often sighing at how dumb the fight scenes are.

If I want to see boobs and stuff, I don't want it during the fight scenes. You can have anime with both genres but keep them apart during the anime.

It's why I got bored of DxD, which was an exception cause it was more comical at first but dropped it when it started trying to be more serious and yet still did it and why I enjoyed Shinmai Testament a lot more where it kept all its hardcore ecchi scenes out of its fight scenes.

10% Harem, 90% Horror.

As in, the MC gathers a huge harem then they all die unbelievably gruesome deaths.

Maybe throw in some Psych too, with the MC going insane in the end.

Hentai + slice of life: There's only one, and it looks pretty bad. I think this would be a better task for manga.

Horror + shoujo ai: could be interesting. Again, it's better too look for manga in this case.

Mecha + school: It would be fun if it was a mecha-based school rather than just school-aged kids piloting mechs. I actually have seen a few anime that contain these two genres (namely Code Geass and Date a Live) and I enjoyed them.

Romance is for example two people who love each other conquering obstacles. Anime "romance" is for example trying to confess after two seasons of random sh*t.

Whatever man...The simple process behind two charactes developing a small crush for each other and slowly strengthening their bonds and feelings until they finally confess to each other is golden for me...

Then they don't because teasing you is funny in some way. Their relationship stays static from the start to end.

That's only if the adaptation don't cover the confession or if the focus wasn't the romance in the first place...Either way, you know they will like each other and you will ship them regardless...shipping is at the core of the fun behind the romance genre...Actually, I should change my quote: "Everything can be improved with shipping"...Now I think the misunderstandings are cleared...Romance is the main contender for shippings because there's a higher chance that it might sail (regardless of adapted conclusion or not), so you can ship them with confidence, hence Anything/Romance is better...

I don't like mecha, I even usually dislike mecha action scenes.
But since this isn't usually a genre in itself, but just a typical element used for one purpose or another, I end up having the "mecha genre" as fourth most favourite genre here with
between 85 and 115 titles weqring this (meaningless) genre tag.
I liked Gurren Lagann too because it was an overexagerrated hommage show with a somewhat continuous story.
(I choosed the first option.)

I like to facepalm now but it is pretty rude so I won't. Most shows are not worth shipping because they just tease you, it is just a waste of effort. If you still want to do it I can't stop you. So go ahead and do it. Then there are also enough serious shows where romance won't improve it at all and causes the oppsite effect: ruining it.

Nah, go ahead and facepalm all you want...Cuz this is starting to go just like the "Hentai is better than Ecchi" discussion we had earlier, you know, with the whole "they just tease you" and "you won't get what you seek" excuses...it's simple, I just don't seek for anything, I just enjoy the moment...If you watch anime seeking for some reward on the end of the road that's fine...But I don't need no reward, or rather, the road itself can be rewarding enough for me...

And of course, if I urge so much for a conclusion I can just go read the source (at least when the source is a manga)...

Though there's no genre that I outright dislike, the one genre I really don't care about is mecha. I tried getting into it once, found the concept of it boring. I haven't watched a huge deal of mecha for this reason, but the ones that I have watched had another element to them, such as basing it around a romantic comedy. Unfortunately, it still didn't persuade me.
Doing nothing of importance.

hmmm, I can basically watch any genre as long as it mixed with Slice of Life. Like I don't usually like mecha, but robotics;notes because it focused more on drama and daily character interactions.

And usually romantic sub-plots make things more enjoyable for me :D makes things like action more interesting.

Normally I can't stand romance, but Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo is one of my favorite anime of all time. Only series I ever got the feels from and the only reason I watched it at all was because it had the same type of Time Manipulation theme as Steins;Gate. Future Dairy also had Romantic elements and I loved it. So 75% Scifi/Horror/Psychological works with 25%ish Romance or less. I'm not going to get rid of Romance altogether because it is a sign of maturity to be open to a Genre before dismissing it outright, although I do have Genres I prefer over others.

I hate comedy.
I can't laugh on stupid staff, I just can't.
Once it's alright but do NOT force a joke, anime please.
Though I like shows with comedy elements such as: No Game No Life, Charlotte. But it should be kept at a minimum level in those shows.

Sidenote: I personally think that there can be a comedy anime that suits me well, maybe I haven't found it yet.
Note for the sidenote: please don't recommend Gintama. I've seen highlights and felt like "That crap is the #1 on MAL God Damn...." - no offence, I just don't like it.
