| averaging my interpretation of all posts of the first page, around 12.6048% watched anime, and 3.189425926% are active watchers i think a bit more watched, and a bit less are active... maybe 20 and 2 ? the definition for "someone who watches anime" is kinda subjective anyway |

Out of 3.3 billion who have internet, I would estimate 1% watches anime. Arent you being a little pessimistic? although i agree with most of your points, There probably is a lot of people who are ashamed of anime and dont say they watch it, and only 20% of japan? :P. Im pretty sure a lot of people read manga there and most of them should watch anime at least once a few weeks. So when we crank up 20% of japan to lets say 30% and add another 1% for people who keep watching anime secret, we could easily say around 100 mil.. I think that'd be a more optimistic approach :D |

| I've heard that 60% of Japanese people watch anime which makes up 76 million people already. There are plenty of anime dubbed into Korean, Italian, and French that aren't dubbed into English because those countries have more of a market for anime. There are also a lot of kids anime and Ghibli movies which are dubbed into several languages since they have a diverse appeal. I know that certain anime are even popular in developing countries so there aren't any countries we can simply cross out as "not watching anime". I would say the percentage of people currently living who have watched at least some anime (let's say 20 minutes or more in their life) is at least 10%. The percentage of people who watch anime regularly would be far lower. I would guess that at least 50% of people who have watched some anime have either not watched any anime on the internet or do not consider it to be their main way of watching it. |

| Its a very open question as the answer would depend on if it means "regularly watch anime" (like once a week for example), "watch anime non-regularly" (like once a month) or "People who has ever watched an anime at least once". I'll would put money on it being 0.75% of the population or less. But its hard to guess since I don't really know the number of people who watch anime in Japan before having to include everyone else. |

Chinese Anime Watchers: 28,500,000 (twenty eight million). - Anime watchers in the USA: ~7 million (I'm sure there's more if you count people who have ((only)) seen Sailor Moon or DBZ or shit.) | I can tell some of you never talk about anime in the real world. Someone said they doubt even 40% of the worlds population have even heard of anime. Excluding maybe some 3rd world countries, pretty much everyone under 30 years old have atleast heard of anime. Doesn't mean they like it. Half of them would probably call it that weird Japanese shit. |

| I can't believe no one mentionned hentai yet. I'm pretty sure most people who visited those specials website have at least watched one of them. And these website are some of the most visited website on the internet. Also I've seen a stats somewhere that says that sazae-san is watched by about 70-80% of Japan. And Doraemon is very popular in Asia. There are also some very old series nobody remember today, but our parents probably watched without being aware they are anime.
