Akatsuki no Yona - great twist accompanied by pretty good soundtrack Death Note - this one really got me hooked Death Parade or Death Billiards (if OVA prequels count as first episode, that is) |

The death didn't work for you because the build up was not effective for you. Nothing you're saying here contradicts my original point. Also I wonder how many times I'll have to quote this post: tl;dr you don't need to be emotionally invested in a character and he/she doesn't have to be important in order for their death to carry a meaning or have impact. |

Oh I'm sure it goes on to be a fine title but it's staying in my dog house until I've cooled off -- in like 2 or 3 years time maybe. OT, I don't have any that really, really stand out.
