I enjoy reading just as much as i enjoy watching anime so I'd like to see some of my favorite fantasy novels become anime. I think anything written by brandon sanderson could become a worthwhile anime. so what are some fantasy novels you would like to turned into an anime.

Dresden Files
Fables
A Song of Ice and Fire.
A franchise of Discworld adaptations by TRIGGER(because its right in line with their style).

Seconding this. Pretty much the only way we could get a full and faithful adaptation of it considering budgets needed for live action of that scope.

Does Harry Potter count? I know it's impossible but holy shit I want a Harry Potter anime. I think the format would do the story justice. Movies just don't work for it since there's so much stuff (not that the movies were terrible).

Keep some of the cast that dubbed the movies into Japanese (Ono Kenshou as Harry, Fukuyama Jun as Tom Riddle), but I'd also love to see Ono Daisuke as Snape. I have many other cast ideas too. I may or may not have thought too much about this.

Please not Dune, the movie adaptation was shitty enough, and the books become boring after the first four.

Ergo Proxy is really, really close to Do Androids dream of Electrical Sheep (Blade Runner) already, so I'd probably pick Roadside Picnic (Stalker) from the Strougatsky brothers, and maybe Red Mars (or the Martian Trilogy) because hard SF.

I'm also not sure about the Discworld, but I'm a big fan of The Dark Side of the Sun, and that would probably be a nice Trigger anime too ^^.

Woahoho, Dune might sound like a great idea but the infamous movie adaptation is still a blight on one of the greatest novels of all time.

His Sci-fi books are hilarious. They're hard to find but I enjoyed those I managed to grab.

The Incal or anything related to that universe would be great.

Hyperion... gnn I'm not sure. It could be awful.

The movie?

It was awful back then and nowadays all I see is Orson Hodge riding a giant worm screaming like a weirdo.

You just have to look at their track record. It's better Japs stick to their own shitty imagination, portrayal and interpretations of the fantasy genre.

None, but the products from the west they have re-imagined have had awful reception. The way they design characters and construct things from dialogue to body language would automatically kill any fantasy atmosphere.

I'll gladly accept the weeb moniker since I have no doubt I know more about Western fantasy/literature than you do.

In your dreams you do.

Facts are verifiable claims. You have presented zero evidence and only delineated vague terms like "character design" and how the Japanese "construct dialogue" (which, unless you actually speak Japanese, makes your statement fraudulent) to make your argument sound compelling, which would only work if the audience you speak to had no brains.

None of these reason are at all factual, nor do they even come close to representing any sort of inherent weakness in transporting fantasy and science fiction into anime or manga. In fact, we have seen the effect that Western science fiction has done for anime, from Ergo Proxy to Ghost in the Shell.

Nothing suggests that an import would be egregiously executed. The Japanese already love American science fiction, anyway.

In other words, you're a fraud. :>

I only gave two minor examples (Which going off your definition you didn't understand) branched off of one aspect in their works in general which serves as evidence as to why they should stick to their own shit and why they will ruin anything they try to recreate from the west.

Oh nice now you're talking about things being inspired by the west, which I wasn't talking about. I was talking about things being taken and re-portrayed from the west. Completely different. Although while we're on it those two series overall will always be shit stains within the genre.

Also, just because Japanese love american science fiction doesn't mean they the shit they try to put out is ever going to be good. Which it isn't.

Stormlight Archive
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

The Witcher would work well as anime, I'd say.
And Abhorsen anime is an anime I'd like to see very much!

Among others prove that you can have commercial/critical success of adapted fantasy novels, even if the final example is a science fiction spin of a classical story.

I'd add Fushigi no Umi no Nadia to the list.

Wait wha- oh yeah.

Too bad that show has 1/3 of filler content, because it would have deserved a 9/10 without that shit.
