Ok, once as a joke I called my dad a pedo because I was laying on my stomach on my bed and my dad randomly spanked me on the ass (I know, this sounds weird!!) but I know he’s not a pedo or anything, I just more said it as a joke, and he pretended to be all offended by it and that but we just have that sense of humour. I once even told him that he was a gay prostitute in another life. We say things that are a little twisted and joke about them even if in some families saying this to a family member may be offensive, but if you’re not hurting anyone by saying it, does it really matter!? Even though I myself don’t think this is a big deal, I remember saying this to someone and expected them to laugh about it, but instead they were saying how I was being disrespectful which kinda hurt, because I’d never do anything to disrespect my parents. They compared it to rape jokes saying that even if it’s a joke to me, you’re not thinking about the victims, but if you applied this thought process to calling someone a pedo, you’re assuming that the paedophile is also raping children, which we all know is certainly not the case. So MAL, what do you think about this? Is it ok to joke about a parent being a pedo? Is it disrespectful anyway because there are some things you just don’t joke about!? Discuss! |
