"Tchijevsky found that fully 80% of the most significant events occurred during the years of maximum sunspot activity. He maintained that the "exciting" period may be explained by an acute change in the nervous and psychic character of humanity, which takes place at sunspot maxima.

Tchijevsky discovered that the solar minimum is the lag period when repression is tolerated by the masses, as if they lacked the vital energy to make the needed changes. He found that during the sunspot maximum, the movement of humans is also at its peak."

Interesting that we are currently living in a period of low solar activity since 2008 and we're seeing all sorts of craziness going on in the world right now in the Middle east and Europe.

What do you think?

Discuss.

I think it does yes, but probably not to the extent you're thinking of. Vitamin D production is kinda vital for energy levels, so it's pretty natural to get more tired during winter when the days are (generally) shorter. Not only that, but our energy levels also drop when exposed to less light.

You'd get answers to those basic questions if you were taking psychology classes. Yes it does; sunny = happy, energetic .. cloudy/rain = depressed, sleepy, less hyped to do activities.

Of course not. Why do you think no culture has ever worshipped the sun? Because it's insignificant and inconsequential to our lives. We just take its benefits for granted, and it has no effect on us beyond the physical.

It's true since my mood is depending on how the weather is. Less depressing when you're in a tropical island where it's just sunny and hot all year but I'm more comfortable with the four seasons that we have since I dislike insects and pollen.

It's pretty obvious that the sun is an important component to us humans but I think to blame the "lack of sun"(even if that's true, as per what the article said) for the current crises from 2008 to 2015 is a really stupid thing to suggest. I mean, for one, there are plenty of times in history where "worse" stuff has happened. Compared to, well, if the article said 2008, everything before 2008, then the world was doing way shittier with all that sun light.

Yes, it makes me angry.
"Go away sun bring on the rain!"
Also I hate when I'm driving towards the sun and I can't see shit.

Precisely, which is why if I feel like going somewhere I wait until ~7 for this time of the year.

I think it definitely has effect on human activity to some extent
I don't know much about it though, so I can't say too much
But I do know that little sun exposure can lead to vitamin D deficiency
And depression is one of the results of vitamin D deficiency

I don't know what strange Sun cult your from, but the sun is actually Apollos golden cart gliding across the sky each day. Praise the sun, praise lord Apollo.

Greenland has summers without nightfall, and that causes insomnia, which makes Greenland a suicide-filled place. Add that to hardships in life. 20-25% of people in Greenland tried suicide.

This is just one example.
