| Episode explained a bit on the backstory, but wasn't that exciting overall. I suppose you can call it ok. I enjoyed Bea playing with Shannon. I actually don't believe her "friendship" at all. Every little kid learns that you can't trust witches. XD But I really can't think of any way to find BTW, those people posting for the sake of having the first post in an episode discussion are really ridiculous. I can't believe what mindset one must have to be able to embarrass himself so much by saying some random things that don't match the actual content of the episode and revealing that he/she didn't watch anything at all or a RAW which he/she didn't understand at all. That's so idiotic. Lately in pretty much every episode discussion of "blockbuster anime shows" you can skip page one because most postings there have no worth at all. |

| I remember while reading the novel that, though I liked this part, it felt a bit dragged on. Well, the anime managed to pace it really well, so no problem at that. I was actually pleasantly surprised at how well directed this episode was. Overall, I'm starting to enjoy the anime more and more. Sure it can't be compared to the epicness of the original material, but as an adaptation, it's actually ok till now, only getting better and better. Plus that they're including lots of game BGMs. If I did have to pick one thing I'm displeased with though, it would be how they cut Bern's hint from the Tea Party of the previous episode. I'm referring to her explanation that Beatrice shouldn't be regarded as a single witch/person/whatever, but rather as a Oh, and on another note: I'm actually liking the art quite a lot, it's much much better to have an epic story with not-so-great art than a not-so-great story with epic art. TOMITAKE FLASH! ftw. Brass knuckles ftw. Eva whispering in that voice in someone's ear: do not want. |

| I've watched the sub now. I really don't like how they handled the Kanon/Jessica stuffs. The school festival scene wasn't that funny in the anime :< And Eva's wispering sure was loud Oh well, it was still okay. I can't wait for the next episode since it will have the best mother ever ^_^ |

| Boring episode. Not really bad...and actually pretty good for the show, but just ok for me. I'm glad that I got an big answer involving Shannon, and a little one regarding Kanon, but I'm not liking the idea that they seem to be pushing regarding believing something so hard that it becomes real, and Jessica talking to Kanon about creating a separate self inside of herself seems to hold deeper meaning. I just don't want this to be the point of the show, so that's probably why I hate it so much. Either way, I still think that Beatrice exists. It seems that the idea that her power comes from people believing in her is pretty solid, but I guess I'll have to wait till the next game to be wowed. Also wasn't a fan of the skipping around in time. It wasn't necessary. Why didn't we see why Shannon changed her mind and broke the mirror? |

| What changed Shannon's mind is that 'everything would remain the same', which meant that her relationship with George wouldn't go anywhere. She would remain furniture and George would marry the person Eva picked for him. In the visual novel, Beatrice was a lot more mean to her before Kanon showed up and told her to stop bullying her. She would repeat the cold words Eva spoke to her, telling her to know her place that she's just furniture. That emphasized the point that refusing her offer would mean she would stay as and would forever be furniture. |

I thought the length of Shannons date with George was really, really short. Since they cut so much of it out. A lot of the things that make Umineko great just can't be carried over right when it's so rushed. They're managing to keep the plot together. But the characters, which is a lot of what Umineko is, are suffering greatly in every way for it. All those little things in the conversations have to be cut to keep the core of the conversation. Kinda sad, but this really is pretty good for the time they have. If you were to compare this directly to the VN it's crap though. |

The first twilight in the first arc would just now be occurring if it had the visual novel's pace. It's just like when a book is made into a movie. It has to speed things up and make cuts. |
| I think this is the problem, based off of not messing with the source. Deen just doesn't know what Umineko is. Maybe they have a better idea than the average viewer, but it's not enough to make a coherent and compelling adaptation. You can't forsake characters, and so far they've only done enough to do the bulletpoints of the plot even though there seems to be a lot of excess in the show stemming from Deen trying to say "Hey this is like Higurashi!" Kanon still seems wooden, Shannon looks like a puppet, and George and Jessica still seem blah. What was the point of Jessica having an asthma attack like that? I have to assume that it becomes important later on, because it was done so awkwardly that it has to be a set up for something. But they did do a good job with Beatrice, even though a lot of that exposition with the mirror and being tied to the land and whatnot was very generic and uninspired. |

Only episode 5 kept the same impact as the VN. I do understand that the characters are going to suffer much development. And they only have 26 episodes for something that could take 52 episodes and still be decently paced. This episode still gets a 7.5 - 8. I gave much of the first arc 4s and 5s. ;( |

Jessica's asthma attack is because her bronchi are weak. She had one in the first arc too, right after Kanon died. She fell to the floor coughing. |

Anything you think now is influenced based off what they've done later on. On another forum, a lot of people have been playing the VN and posting their impressions as they go along. How they feel about the characters isn't far off from what he feels. |
| To tell you the truth, most people find the beginning part of EP2 really boring. The Shannon/Geroge and Kanon/Jessica relationships are too in your face. Shoving them down your throat. I've played all 4 games and I can say I don't particularly care about either relationship. |
| First 4 and half 5 were fucking awesome. 2nd half of 5 confused me so i was expecting some information at this ep. Sadly i got boobs/singing/love talking and tea chi-chatting. This episode was total shit and first time in my life i ever dropped an ep from a series i fucking love... I hope next ep will look like more of the first eps |
