I have seen a few somewhat reliable stories of people being prosecuted and having jail time for having 2D images of lolicon or something on their computer. Having 2d images or video is something I don't think should be illegal anywhere, not that I'm even a lolicon or anything. In Japan I believe it's legal but the laws in my country and others seem really vague, a fictional character's age is irreverent, you could say they're 18, 5 or 60 so how can they be underage? And even if you say they are, it's a freaking drawing, who is the victim here? Also does it matter if you actually have it on a hard drive or on paper, or is simple web browsing sufficient as evidence? It seems most hentai could be claimed to have underage characters so why don't websites get shut down? |

It would only happen if you were being used as an example, same as with piracy. don't worry about it, the chances are extremely low. |

I'm pretty sure in most places it's legal, although a tad bit questionable. Must have happened in some obscure country... |

Yes you can, its illegal in many countries. The law recognises a for a proxy child, hence why slapping 18 on a character isn't sufficient. As for why it's illegal, that should be obvious. For one it's disgusting and for two because those who view it might turn their targets to real children. I know that's a controversial topic for some people on here, I don't know whether there is a link or not, but it would make sense for there to be one. Someone who isnt geared that way isn't going to be watching that stuff. It's illegal where I live, apparently because there is a link. |

He was talking about lolicon which is what I was referring too. Not all Hentai is illegal, just certain types. And no, watching something doesn't mean you will carry out a certain act in real life. However it's illegal in some countries because they have found that people who watch that stuff often go on to abuse. That is their reasoning. |

I don't have study sources, I don't care about people's right to whack off to loli's so I'm not really interested. If they want their interests validating, they'll have to call those who make the laws into question. The reason it's illegal in my country is because studies have found that there is a link. |

I don't think having hentai on your computer is illegal. At least, where I live. Although, I heard that someone got arrested for having "Boku no Picu" downloaded in their computer. The guy got charged with "child pornography". |

Yeah fisting and "squirting" is a bit silly, they have called it "obscene", it's classed as extreme pornography. I understand rape and stuff like that, but not fetishes like that. While I find it squeamish, I don't think that should be illegal. |

Its a silly idea, the whole point of those laws is to protect real children but cartoons aren't real nor can you claim pre-crime because they resemble something. Otherwise we might as well start throwing people in jail or bondage porn and violent video games. Are they too not apparently substitutes? someone who plays call of duty should go down for murder charges following that logic. They're killing digital people, just like someone getting off on pencil drawn characters. |

No, Lolicon is actually disgusting, no subjective about it. This is because molestation is actually disgusting and paraphernalia that supports it is disgusting too. Call of duty isn't the same. You can play call of duty for entertainment, your reasons for playing aren't to fantasise about doing what you see on screen. Lolicon, there is no other reason for watching it. |
