Obviously there are many pros/cons to each place.

Do you like the lively hustle and bustle of the city, or the quiet, BORING, relaxed ambience of the suburbs?

There's also the factor of proximity for your daily grinds (work, school, etc)

I personally am a fan of living in the city. I feel like It suits me more, and the thought of not having to waste 2 hours a day just to commute is refreshing. Plus I love how close everything is to me (School, Work, Mall, Bars, etc.) Plus you can actually have a wider social circle living in the city, as friends are of closer proximity to you, etc.

The Suburbs are way too boring for me IMO. My parents live in a neighbourhood where everyone is literally old people central, and there is nothing to do. It's always quiet, and the only thing nearby is a subway sandwich store, and a chinese supermarket plaza. >< Not to mention that the city's civic centre is boring as well...

Maybe if i was married, settled down with kids and stuff, i'd want to move into the suburbs...

Discuss.

Living in the city is better, you can't get a good coffee out here.

Exactly.

I would take living in a nice small condo in a nice part of the city over having a car and living in a big boring house in the suburbs.

I live in the suburbs and always think the city life would be fun but I don't know. Maybe give it a try for a few years someday.
Though living in the northwest burbs of Chicago means it's not really bad where I am compared to some of the boonies I've been too.

I'll give the suburbs the edge for being more peaceful although being more sheltered at times in nature while I'll give the city the edge for being more fun although being more more crowded at times.

But I'd say my city isn't really that bad compared to others in my country.

I'm not much of a party goer so I'd have to go with suburbs. Peace of mind is worth a lot more to me than something always going on. Cities can be loud.
I can make my own life exciting. I don't need the city lifestyle.

The city overwhelms me to be in for too long since it is so crowded and busy, so I would much prefer to live in the suburbs. It's nice to be able to drive into the city when you want to (like maybe a 20-30 minute drive) and then return home to a more peaceful environment.

I can walk aimlessly in both and never get lost. I've met all kinds of people in the city but in the suburbs is like a peaceful ghost town.

Suburb, I hate crowds, I don't like to shop. and I don't need the pollution or the congestion from traffic.

I rarely eat out so nothing about the city is really that appealing.

Speaking as a long time city dwelller I can tell you that it ages you rapidly, destroys your mental and physical health and general well being. You are under constant stress from all angles. The suburbs on the other hand are a long slow pointless death. A regional community like a small to medium town, or a property in the bush near to one or some peaceful place near a beach but with all essential amenities is ideal. Not recommending a small country town, that is often the death of total despair and desolation surrounded by gossips and drunks.

I'd rather live in a suburb that is reasonably close to the downtown core. That way you get the best of both worlds, more personal space with convenient access to bussinesses and governement services.

Of course, buying properties in such places cost a good amount of change considering than demand is much higher than offer.

Seems like death everywhere. >< Though I admit that I like this comment a lot.

As for me - wouldn't know. I live in a sleeping district in a big city (30 min of public transport to the center of the city). Maybe that counts as suburbs.
Used to like the center more, when I started to study there. Was even ashamed of the bland area around my home.
Lately I tire quickly from the center. I have even started to avoid the main streets - too many people, too many tourists, everything too fast and hysterical (though my city is considered to be "slow"). And sleeping districts offer easier, even if not so fashionable shopping. There're more parks. But there're also too many people... (500 000 in only my district, so policlinics and government institutions are always overcrowded.)

I am sorry. I guess, I've written a lot of nothing. In short, I think that it's probably better to live in a quiter area, but not too far from a city.

I've lived in the suburbs for awhile. The city is about a 20 minute drive from my town. I've always liked the suburbs. It has plenty of open space, a closer community, lakes, parks, etc. It's sort of peaceful, but I get how it gets boring at times. I'll probably be moving out in a couple years to a place much more city like. Suburbs are great for settling down, but I'm not quite for that yet. I'll probably be living the city life or moving around a lot until it comes to the settling down time.
