ChaosSaviour said: ratio 4:3? 16:9? what do you mean by that? 4:3 is the old style ratio from anime, you can tell when it has black bars on the sides. Modern HD video is usually 720p which is widescreen, or 16:9. Although for some random reason 8bit made Grisaia in 21:9. |

| No, it doesn't bother me. I used a 4:3 monitor until November 2013, and I survived watching 16:9 content on it (as long as it wasn't in HD or contained lag-inducing subtitle effects) just fine. And if I was fine watching 16:9 content on a 4:3 screen (as presumably most people were in the early/mid 00s when 4:3 screens were more common), why should I have a problem with 4:3 videos or games on the 16:9 screen I have now? Heck, I wish I could get Starcraft I and Warcraft II to correctly display pillarboxed on my current screen, but no such luck. | Yes 4:3 makes my eyes bleed, that's why I've been holding off on some older things to get remasters so I can watch them at the proper resolution. On a related note, apparently Ninja Slayer is going to be 4:3 to go for the retro feel and I don't know how to feel about that. |

| No. If an anime was originally 4:3, then I'd prefer to watch it in its original 4:3 aspect ratio, even with the black bars. I can't believe there are anime sites where their video players stretches 4:3 anime to 16:9, making it look distorted. I used to watch old anime on websites like that, but now try to find sites where it displays the aspect ratio correctly. |

| Believe it or not, I run a dual monitor setup where one screen is a 21" 1080p display and the other is a 19" 1280x1024 display, because it was old and lying around and nobody uses it anyways. Useless for gaming, but for almost anything else, the extra screen space is nice. And, of course, I can run old games/video on it and boom, no black bars. Unfortunately it's a shitty TN panel with really washed out whites, poor color contrast and noticeable gradient banding, whereas the other screen is a fairly nice IPS display that has none of that, which makes it far more noticeable than it otherwise would be. But at least it doesn't have black bars? |
